These are my favorite videos that I look forward to each week! Your positivity gives me courage to just start creating! I'm a detailed painter, so doing these exercises with you each week helps me to loosen up and not be so hard on myself!
That’s great! It’s easy to get lost in detail work. I’m glad you enjoy these videos and find them helpful! They have helped me a lot with building confidence to keep going when I feel like I’ve messed up! We can all be a bit too hard on ourselves at times. ❤️😊👍
The end results are wonderful! I think most people who think they can’t draw give up after 2 minutes. It’s so good to see what you do to finish your sketches.
Thanks! You’re probably right. I think doing multiple speedy drawings really helps challenge the want to quit. It really makes me want to keep going and finish the drawings. I’m glad you enjoyed the final results! ❤️😊👍
This was wayyy to much fun!!!❤ At 39, I am finally tapping back into drawing, painting, coloring,,,overall just bringing out my creative side again, and this warmup is just what I need. Please continue to do more warmups😎. Thanks
I can’t express how satisfying it is to see you add the detail and water. I’m always smiling watching you go back and bring your 2minute sketches to life. I love watching you use your neocolors twos!
Another fabulous video thank you so much for sharing. Always a delight to watch 😍blessings to you and your family and all of your subscribers from Ontario 🇨🇦 🙏
I like the gourds the best, I really liked how they looked at the end. All of them were great and I will admit that I couldn’t do what you do so let that be said. In the landscape painting I wanted you to bring the tree branches on the left down a little more. The leaves on it would fill in that space where the far back tree line just stops. I hope you can figure out what I’m saying. If you could only hear me telling you what to do from my chair you would laugh your head off and tell me to be quiet!! I really look forward to Sunday morning, having my breakfast and watch your videos! Such fun!!🥰🎃
Thanks for sharing your favorite! I definitely see what you’re saying with the tree branches! It’s funny how much you don’t see in the moment, or how different things stand out to different people. I love the feedback! I’m so glad you enjoy the videos! ❤️😊👍
@@artbyheather … I don’t think I’ve told you but I’ve been teaching Decorative painting for over 40 years now, yes I’m old! I’m 72, and yikes!! One of my strong points is being able to “see”, in my students work whether it needs something or is perfect. I can’t draw well, and never have. In my field I didn’t have to, back when I was learning to paint we had tons of painting books and patterns available to buy published by artist. They found they could make money teaching and publishing their work in this field. I can paint and teach and can sketch a little bit but not like you!! I enjoy your channel so much because I love watching you create a beautiful piece of art starting with scribbles. You are very talented and I know you have encouraged many people who didn’t think they could draw, to give it a try. And found out they could and had fun doing it! 🥰
That sounds like a fun profession! I had a feeling you might be an art teacher/artist. I love helping people get motivated to try. I think it’s the hardest part of learning art skills. The second hardest part is not giving up on yourself. There is so much potential out there and joy waiting to be tapped into. I’m happy to be of help in any way! 😊
@@artbyheather … you were very perceptive to have a feeling about me, I am definitely more of a teacher which I love doing. (Though I definitely can paint ☺️) The joy of helping a student learn a new skill and to find happiness in their accomplishments is unmeasurable. I believe you feel that when reading the comments you receive. All the ones I’ve read a very complimentary to you!! You are wonderful at getting people motivated, and reminding them to have fun. This is your sketchbook etc. Since watching you, I’ve gotten my grandchildren, who are ages 12-20 to do 2 minutes sketches. Someone decides what the challenge will be and we all do the same thing. We use the same crayons and woodies as you, minus a paint brush. All you hear is laughing, and we have such fun! I got the idea from you Heather, and watching your videos, so thank you for that!!
I love doing these 2 min sketches with you. I love pushing myself to capture the picture in 2 mins. If YT would let me, I'd show you how mine came out. It's going to be fun coming across these in the future. I did mine with water soluable oil pastels. I thought I was gong to love the pumpkin table, but I liked the tree on the tree on the field best. Thank you
That’s great! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! I wish I could see them too! I have oil pastels on my wishlist. I didn’t know they made water soluble ones. I need to get a Patreon going so everyone can share their pictures. (if that’s possible) Thanks for sharing your favorite and sketching along with me! ❤️😊👍
Closet genius! It’s incredible how you legitimately just scribble the color ideas onto the paper and get the big first past done. That’s the intimidating part! The first hurdle. Then you’re free to just make it what it needs to be, and your true genius comes to light. Amazing as always!
Thanks for your kind words! I think it’s the painter in me. I taught myself to paint before learning to draw. When I start a painting, it’s just a lot of messy color marks and then I build it into the final piece. That’s also why I love the NeocolorII so much, because it’s easier for me to learn drawing skills. ❤️😊👍
I like the last one the best! 🥰 The reference has the most color range in it. You brought all of it out with the little flowers! 🪻 They are all gorgeous fall colors, and you did an incredible job portraying them!! 👏👏
Thanks! I agree! I actually found that picture first in my Fall/Autumn search. It had everything I was looking for in a fall picture. Thanks for sharing your favorite! ❤️😊👍
I’m trying to loosen up in my art lately and this would be a great idea for me to try. I always think it needs to be ‘perfect’ but I am definitely going to try this. I’ve never drawn with anything other than a pencil. Eeek. 😊
I was the same way. These timed drawings have really helped me to get looser and not too focused on details. I would suggest doing more than one or two at a time though. I think by the 3rd or 4th drawing your brain really switches its focus. I hope you enjoy giving it a try! ❤️😊👍
I think the biggest transformation was the field with the trees. That came out beautiful. Next favorite is that basket. I was like there’s no way she’s going to get that one to come out. And I love it. The blanket looks perfect. 👍
Hear me out: one specialty video where you don't show us the picture or tell us what you're drawing until the end 😆 I have fun seeing the elements from the photo come together and your thought process has helped me a lot when it comes to making quicker sketches. But once it would be fun to try and guess what it is as you're drawing haha
I actually love that idea! I was honestly thinking of doing that for a livestream.. if I ever get the courage to go live😅. But I think that would be a fun video to make also! It’s like virtual Pictionary, only not trying to guess a word/phrase. ❤️😊👍
Wasn't sure about the trees in the 2 minute sketch but you really transformed it. The sky through the trees is one my favorite things out of all four sketches, plus the way you fixed the road. The hay under the pumpkins was also great, wasn't sure how you were going to handle that but I love what you did and it looks very hay like. I think my least fav is the basket of apples but mostly because it's floating in space. 😊 It needs anchoring. Love watching your videos, they inspire me to step out of my comfort zone. Gonna have to dig out my neocolor II crayons and play along.
Thanks for sharing your favorites and least favorite! I agree, the Apple basket needs something more. I’m glad you enjoyed it and hope you have fun with your Neocolors! ❤️😊👍
I love watching the transition from warm-up part to finished piece. You take something that looks admittedly a little basic to truly beautiful! Thank you for sharing!
I love the last one. Fall is definitely here!!! Great job and easy going, fun. I always love seeing the transformations from sketch to finished product. Thanks for sharing!
Really, really love these videos!! Always looking forward to them and most weeks I paint along. Very fun to do, good practice and they help me to loosen up. Thanks Heather ❤
That’s great! Thanks for painting along with me! What kind of paint do you use? (Acrylic, watercolor, gouache,) Maybe I should give it a try with acrylic paint sometime. ❤️😊👍
But now you got me thinking about using other materials. I think now I want to draw the same object with 3 or 4 different artmaterials and techniques and then compare them. 🎉❤
🤣 I’ve opened a door of possibilities now! You’re reading my mind! I was thinking about one image in 3-4 different techniques. Using different materials would be fun also!
Welcome! I started doing the blank sides at first, but they’re mostly covered in smudges from the other side rubbing off. That’s the only downside of a spiral sketchbook. The pages are too shifty. I might still try to fill them though. ❤️😊👍
I loved the *thought* of the second one xD. Overall my favorite to draw was the second one and favorite to paint was the last one. I think partly because I tried using watercolor in a mixed media sketchbook and I learned I'm not a big fan of it.... (mixed media paper for pure watercolor, that is.)

Thank you so much! I’m so glad you enjoy it! ❤️😊👍
I love your 2 minute sketch along videos. It really gets me going, like I am almost siting right next to you painting along.
That’s so good to hear! I’m glad you enjoy them! ❤️😊👍
I absolutely love the last one so much! It’s so beautiful and definitely encompasses fall! And I agree, it 100% belongs on a calendar😊😊
Thanks! I’m so glad you liked it! I really love it too! It was so much fun to finish! ❤️😊👍
these are so cute! I've been loving using neocolour, they're so fun 🥰
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed them! ❤️😊👍
Impressive on so many levels. Agree with others who remark on your positive attitude. Thanks so much for posting these. ❤
You’re very welcome! I’m so glad you enjoyed it! ❤️😊👍
From mess to masterpieces there great, especially the last one with all that stuff. Well done 👏
Thank you so much! ❤️😊👍
