Super grateful for this. I remember seeing this in the theater with the woman I am now divorcing. Never thought this day would come. Here it is. “Next time you see me - THINGS WONT BE ABOOOOUUUUT THE SAME!!!”
LOL I saw this in a theater too with my ex-gf. There was a quiet revenge when this one came on. She also lied and cheated the last six mos of our relationship. But then...I did too with the porn and chat rooms. We really hurt each other back then. But we're wayyy cool now and both dating other people. So funny how that works out.
I have a good story. Turns out I share a September 8th B-Day with Pigpen. That's why I must have loved the blues all these years. Well I was in this blues band in Boston and we did You Lied, You Cheated and I was the singer. We even recorded it in a pretty good studio. So when we were totally finished with the cut the drummer in the band said to me: All That's China is Not Gold?????" Boy was I shook up, guess it was clear that my gateway to the blues was Pigpen and the Dead, but not really since I had listened to B.B. King and Jimmy Reed and T. Bone Walker and the Allmans and so many others. But it was funny. The guys let me have it. Never made that mistake again and cleaned out the wax in my ears. Long live Pigpen, the Dead were a earthier, more raw to the bone band with you. Can't believe this video is 50 years old. Be well everyone of a certain age and have fun, you never know what's next.
Great song by GD and Pigpen (Ron McKernan). I also saw this in the theater with my ex last fall. And yes, same circumstances as he sings about. I got so tired of her lying and cheating I dumped her in 2018. So when they sang this, I just looked over and smiled/smirked. Just a piece of revenge that was not planned out by me.
The One and only Pigpen, what a Gem is rite.Great video clip this is very very rare footage grate audio and Video yes Thankyou whoever dug up this Classic Old Grateful Dead. Danger CT,USA
72 was a good year, I think that 77 was the best and they did have some great shows in the late 80's. I have downloaded every concert from 66 - 86, I only have 10 years to go.
Have you listened to the original Junior Parker song? Same title, also on TH-cam ... Junior Parker was Al Greens cousin, or so he says on Take Me to the River, also on TH-cam, which takes me back to my undergraduate days in Cambridge, Mass hearing the Talking Heads version live in the late 1970s. I am old 👵and TH-cam is giving me a 2nd childhood. :) 👊 Open Source and Net Neutrality 👊🌎☮️
This is way under played in my opinion. Ditto with pigs superior Good lovin. Lots of boot cassettes used to have um. Its kinda hard to handle. Hee ( old man's smokers cough).....hee h...h...aahhhch. diggin it, thanks.
At 1:15, what is that thing it puts on his tongue before playing that blues harp? Or dows he take something outta his mouth? I play guitar a little and blues harp too, but I never saw that! Really curious!?
Rubbish. We knew the artists, man. I listen to jazz and blues all the time. This “white kid” saw Bob Marley. Give me a medal. How virtue signally can you get.

The best is 4/26/71, Duane Allman on slide and Pigpen singing/harp to Elmore James' It Hurts me Too on the Internet archive.
Thanks!

Well, it's a true, true saying, all that shines is not gold
Like the good book says, you gotta reap what you sow

I may be wrong about this, as I just play drums sometimes with the blues guys, but he may be wetting his fingers before he goes in on it.
Wasn't it "Last time you see me?" for Pigpen -- he doesn't gig much after this
Ucking Fay !!!!
It's a doggone shame these groups ripped off those black artists and fooled white kids into think theses songs were theirs.
Rubbish. We knew the artists, man. I listen to jazz and blues all the time. This “white kid” saw Bob Marley. Give me a medal. How virtue signally can you get.
those black artists thanked God that white kids started finding out about them and bought their records by the millions.
