Insomnia, restless leg syndrome, frequent nighttime awakenings, excessive daytime sleepiness, and many others, are all common complaints for people with PD and these challenging problems can affect your quality of life. Our special guest Dr. Maria Ospina is a movement disorders physician and she took audience questions about sleep and PD and offered tips to help you improve your sleep issues.

My husband has been trying carbidopa levodopa for almost 3 months. He is having so much stomach problems and we’ve cut down the Rx and finally stopped it. What do you suggest?

I was drawn to this video as I have a fellow “Parkie” who is having trouble with middle of the night waking. I used to have this problem, but have found that the combination of Magnesium Glycinate (2 x 1 20 mg), 3 mg of extended release Melatonin and a fourth dose of Sinemet PR (Levodopa extended release) all taken around bedtime, has helped me immensely.

I am grateful for this information. Thank you! I have experienced so many of sleep difficulties you have discussed with clarity hand I appreciate your insight and helpful suggestions!
My inability to establish a restorative sleep regimen has been affecting daily life negatively in every respect, physically, mentally, emotionally and spiritually. My efforts to sustain myself and engage in programs I need to stay alive, join uplifting activities that bring me happiness and joy, preserve time to connect my dear heart to my children, grandchildren, friendships, that are make life worth living are challenged by fatigue and exhaustion. I am suffering a estrangement and grieving the tremendous loss of support from diminishing involvement resulting from lack of motivation, apathy
Sleep deprivation has accelerated the progression of my symptoms, I am enduring insidious, painful OFF episodes occurring too often. My ON time is becoming buried time used to catch up with lost time and I am overwhelmed and unavailable to my friends, my family, myself.
This issue has negatively impacted my emotional wellbeing by causing confusion, misunderstanding, conflict with all of my caregivers. I am feeling an anticipatory dread as night time approaches. I am anxious and feeling unsupported They are frustrated and with the situation, my resulting behaviors and decline. We are feeling hopeless and unhappy..
Do you have suggestions for a new direction , ideas?

In July last year, I started on Parkinson’s disease TREATMENT PROTOCOL from Natural Herbs Centre ( Natural herbs centre ). One month into the treatment, I made a significant recovery. After I completed the recommended treatment, almost all my symptoms were gone, great improvement with my movement and balance. Its been a year, life has been amazing
