    I have the white A-Spec with red leather interior. I really like the car. The seats are extremely comfortable and I love the sound even if it is coming from inside the car (can't tell). The red is a real eye catcher. It seems to be in short supply which makes it even more unique. I love the handling. It really feels tight to drive but still smooth and comfortable. So far I'm happy with the decision to buy an A-Spec.

      Clifford Trott my local dealer had far more red interiors than black ones. In fact, they had to do a dealer swap to get my black interior.

      Do you also like the lazy and old transmission? Or the fact that it’s last in it’s class for performance? Definitely does NOT feel like a $45,000 car.

    I’m not a big wood fan in the interior, which is why it’s perfect, they put that trim in the aspec and wood in the others

    I currently own a '16 TLX Advance but will very likely replace it within the year with an '18 TLX A-Spec. The A-Spec treatment, while mostly cosmetic, really transforms the rather bland styling of the non A-Spec variants. Looks so good.

      The same basic sport sedan feel of a TSX with great utility, superb suspension and the build quality Honda utilized to compete in Europe against Volvo, et al. High compression Civic SI VTEC motor. I stumbled on it a year ago to replace an RSX. I would love Acura to produce either a TLX or ILX wagon....it would be on my short list.

    I've always been a lexus, bmw, audi fan. But this TLX has so much to offer at a cheaper price than its competitors in similar builds when equipped with certain features (Lexus doesn't have Android auto and their AWD system doesn't seem to do as well as Acura's system does). I'm shopping the TLX against the IS 350. Thanks for the review

    My dealership has been recently trying to get me into this car. I'm currently in a Honda Accord V6.
    The lease would stay nearly the same since my credit score and income has increased. So I might consider it.
    But from a buying perspective.. this car does not merit the extra $10,000.
    The infotainment on the Accord is better.
    278 HP compared to 290 HP... the J35 can defiantly put out more power with mild factory tuning. The Acura should have at least 300 HP. ( Yes I'm complaining about a 10 ho difference but the sound of 300 or higher would boost their sales)
    The seats are superior in the Acura for sure and the seat cooling makes me happy, the Accord has only seat warmers but sadly I live in Florida so their useless. The seat bolsters seems very comfortable.
    The hard plastic on it disgust me. The Acura is supposed to be a premium vehicle there's no reason to cheap out on plastic.
    This car is much heavier probably due to SH-AWD but weight reduction would be great.
    The fake exhaust is completely idiotic. It looks pleasing from far away and once you get near you look and say "oh their fake.."
    The car looks way better than before but Honda themselves is moving on to sportier vehicles Acura should have improved more than they did in the sports appeal.
    The Accord will no longer have the V6 engine so I truly hope that means that Acura will make it their own and make improvements on it. The J series is an amazing engine that can take a beating (trust me I know my friend runs his on 20 PSI so frequently he's used up more gas than what we were fighting for in the recent wars)
    Great review by the way quick and to the point! You've won a subscriber.

      Some good points. I own a V6 Accord and the TLX A-Spec. The biggest difference by far is the SH-AWD. I love my Accord, but there is no comparison in performance. The AWD system in the TLX is awesome on corners. You just can't get that from FWD.

    The exhaust isn't any bigger. Those outlets are not actually part of the exhaust, if you look, they are not even connected to the muffler. The sound is 90% pumped in.

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      ya I mention that in there, it sounds very artificial. I'd pull the fuse on that system and do an aftermarket then have a real beast of a car.

    • @bostonasphalt2
      @bostonasphalt2 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I plan to do that to mine. I want the sound I hear on the inside to be coming in from the exhaust on the outside not the speakers. Though for what it is, I think they did a good job with the active sound

    Have 2 Acura's love em.......TypeS and 6spd A spec, but SPOILER ALERT..problems with 9spd ZF trans......Acura need to bring 6spd back and pls be unique, don't want a Ford front end on an Acura

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      agree, although the new Fusion is pretty stunning, but I see your point. Although that "slash you with a knife in the face" front end styling was more homage to Nissan/Toyota than it was original Acura.

    • @melissacosta3620
      @melissacosta3620 7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I work for Acura the 9spd ZF trans has been completely retuned and perfected. 2017 Acura MDX has had no issues and all the tlx I have driven have no issues. That was early 2015-2016 models 2017 tlx my dad drives has no issues as well.

    • @longhand335
      @longhand335 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Maybe so, but tell that to all the Buyers of the 2015 and 2016 models......And it wasn't just the trans, it was also the infotainment system.... And this also included some Honda models as well. And I won't even mention the CVT problems.

    The v-6 model needs a dual clutch transmission, than maybe I would consider it.

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I love dual clutches as well. Supposedly the new ZF 8 speed used in the Giulia, by Audi, etc is supposed to be as fast as a dual-clutch but also smoother. I never thought a good dual clutch had that much lurch, but for some markets people complain. :(

    So, did you get a ticket? And you need to be specific which Audi/BMW/Mercedes models you are talking about. the Audi A4? or S4? The 330i? or 340i? The C300 or C43? Yes, I know the TLX is priced with the A4/330i/C300, but as a reviewer you should be specific.

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      No, luckily he wasn't even there for me! Also I did mean A4, C300, and 330. All those other cars C43, 340, and S4 don't line up well (IMHO) until Acura has a turbo version of the TLX.

    • @privatestockrecords1
      @privatestockrecords1 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      People do prefer a T2.0 over a V6?? I own both, a VW CC with T2.0 and a Accord V6, off the line the T2.0 is quicker from 0-60 with minor Turbo Lag, but at top end, the v6 continue to pull where T2.0 power drops after 4500 RPM. RDX return to V6, They are both nice, if you are not racing down the line, I prefer a V6 for linear power delivery, and a little boost when the V-Tech kicks in. dont all the German cars you are comparing with the TLX have a small turbo 4 cyl? I would prefer a V6 SH-AWD over.

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony Young good point. I compared it to the V4 Germans vs their v6 because they are similar in price/power. I would prob take an S4 or C43 over the Acura if it weren’t the $$ difference.

    • @privatestockrecords1
      @privatestockrecords1 6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Ferrari Dave Car Reviews I did replaced my 2015 TLX V6 AWD advance with an Audi S5 prestige due to a shake found with TLX rear diff at hwy speed. I have videos on TH-cam documenting the problem. Do check em. Absolutely no regret with the switch. I did purchased the Acura based on your review, unfortunately, it has been repaired more than 6X at the dealership and they still couldn’t find the solution.

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anthony Young really sorry to hear that. I also reviewed & loved the S5, so am glad you’re enjoying that! I’ve heard good things about Honda/Acura reliability- so maybe yours is an early production thing. 🤷🏻‍♂️. I recommended Alfa Giulia too, hopefully not too many people don’t have reliability issues off buying from that review, haha.

    The Acura TLX is nowhere near the same level as German RWD competition such as the BMW 3-Series or Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The Acura TLX is best compared to the Buick Regal. I think I would go for the all new 2018 Buick Regal instead of this unappealing refreshed 2018 Acura TLX. Acura is the car brand you choose when you can't afford the European luxury marques. You get what you pay for with the Acura TLX, a really nice Honda Accord.

    • @DFWsCars
      @DFWsCars  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      gedaman have you driven this new gen? I own/owned all 3 of the German competitors (well AWD w/ the A4) and would respectfully disagree with “nowhere near” and strongly argue nearly good enough, where the Germans can’t justify the price difference. Is it as luxurious as the Benz, nearly (interior is the big difference) - is chassis or engine as good as the BMW? not quite but this car can hustle, as well balanced between the 2 as the b9 A4? almost.
      I agree with you on GM tho, they are killing it! I’d almost take the new ATS/CTS over the Germans having driven the new ATS V and reviewed a CTS V.

  • @DMunee1410

      agree on the looks. well it's pretty competent, but does feel a bit "heavier" than say the A4 or the 3 series, but overall pretty close to the non AMG C class. The engine is the biggest area of improvement, it's hard to beat a Turbo.
