Even more amazing is that Dimash is a Kazak speaking vocalist and this is a Chinese audience without French translation, yet he still made them cry.😃 This performance was the Historic moment in time when the outerworld discovered Dimash. When Dimash performs at his three hour concerts, people come from 60/70 countries for the chance to see him live. I’ve been to five and I’m 79. He sings in many languages, opera thru to rap, dances, directs, acts, models, plays instruments and is a very spiritual, respectful, intelligent, patriotic, loving humanitarian. He calls his fans dears, as we are as dear to him as his family. Try Stranger from New Wave 2021 which is in English..

As an unknown wildcard, Dimash, at age 22, opened the new season of The Singer in Jan of 2017. This is a Chinese competition for music professionals. Dimash didn’t win it ( he was runner-up) but he stormed China and ended up working there for 3 years. The Chinese Dears love him to bits.
Dimash got his masters degree in 2021. After that, he wasted no time in attaining his goal of achieving the highest degree of education. Recently, I heard that he is planning to defend his doctoral dissertation this year. As a Dear, I look forward the day when he will be officially called Dr. Dimash or Dimash Qudaibergen, PhD. That is another aspect I like about Dimash. He did not forget the value of education. Moreover, it appears that he is properly managing his income as he is putting up businesses right and left.

There's a LOT to unpack with this performance. You have to understand that it was more than just his brilliant performance that makes this whole thing absolute perfection. This was season 5 of the popular music competition "Singer" (previously "I Am a Singer") and this was the first night of that season. The audience is made up of 500 members of the Chinese music industry- artists, producers, and other industry professionals- and the contestants are all well-established musicians in the Chinese music scene who are basically looking to either revive their careers or accelerate them. Unlike American music competitions shows you cannot audition for "Singer" you must be invited by the producers; a producer had caught one of Dimash's performances in a competition and thought he would make an interesting novelty wild-card addition to boost ratings in the upcoming season. Prior to the first night the producers rank the artists based on how well they feel they will be received by the audience, with the artist they feel least likely to get votes performing first. Dimash was not only the youngest competitor in the show's history but also only the second non-Chinese competitor in the show's history and mostly unknown outside of his home country. He didn't speak the language and his performance style was very different, plus he was singing in French so he was ranked the lowest to win over the judges and therefore performed first. So... Consider this: The other performers, who had no knowledge of Dimash, are sitting backstage waiting to perform and watching this. Ultimately they end up chasing after him for the remainder of the season! Can you imagine? And this was just his opening performance! Not to mention that in the 7 1/2 years since this performance which propelled him onto the global stage he has continuously worked to perfect his craft. And this song, while a beautiful showcase of his range, isn't the top nor the bottom of his vocal range. Dimash was 22 when he wowed China and the world with this performance. This was his first performance in the sing off there. He did not know Mandarin or English and was as lost as he could be language wise. Now age 30, having completed his doctoral studies before turning 29, he has studied classically/operatically since just before turning 5 and still training, He is also trained in contemporary and pop vocals plus he is trained and plays several instruments. Dimash has perfect pitch and is an entertainer extraordinaire as he is also a dancer and adds other moves which wow the crowds. He is tall at 6'3", an athlete, philanthropist, and travels the world in concerts.

I am SURE you've gotten a ton of support from the 'DEARS', by now!!!!! They are a strong bunch of folks that are super dedicated to Dimash. I have watched Dimash for over 7 years, now, starting with the song that followed this one, as the 2nd installment of the 'Singer ' competition that kick started the International scene for Dimash. He had been singing in a few near by countries, by Kazakhstan. He was this show's youngest, and 'wild card pick' to appear on the show... he wasn't yet quite 23. I can't imagine when new people see him for the first time, now, 7 years later, with the songs that he has been doing, in recent times. Although, he's been on a steady , uphill trip!!! His amazing training, instructors, and mentors , let alone natural ability, have been his basic history. You've got alot to listen to, and be amazed, now that you've gotten started!! have fun!!! Dimash is not about range, as incredible as it is, he is about storytelling and emotions and serving the song. He is perfect in every register, even when the entire song is just in his mid range, and is great in every style and technique, but most of all he is a soul healer.
Well said and I agree. My world has changed since finding Dimash. I struggle with depression and often hoped I wouldn’t wake up the next morning. Made huge decision to not only leave my home (rarely do) but to go from US to Prague and Düsseldorf for Nov concerts. Trip of a lifetime if I stay brave until then. I value the emotions he conveys deeply. We are fortunate to be here to witness Dimash.

Wow! Thank you for your honest reaction to our beloved Dimash. Welcome to the amazing wonderful world of Dimash. This performance was back in 2017, when he was just 22 years old. He went to China to participate in this singing competition as a wildcard contestant. He was the youngest singer among all other well established Chinese singers on this reality show. He went, only with a translator, not knowing Chinese and very little English. But you can see and feel his talent and skills and his total control over his many voices and most of all, he completely embodies the song and makes everyone who heard it feels the emotions of the song. Hence the goosebumps and chills and people crying. I am considered a recent Dear (Dimash fan), because I only discovered him last summer (2023), but I was instantly impressed and instantly hooked and can’t go a day without listening to his voice. It’s that powerful and that amazing and that magical. Listen to ALL his songs. He is not one to give in to music industry commercialism. He stays independent and creates music that he wants to make and spread his message of love and peace to the world. He came from a very musically talented family, but he also worked extremely hard to get to this level. He is classically trained. He just turned 30, and probably already finished his PhD in musicology. Dimash IS MUSIC 🎶. Besides his otherworldly talent, he is also a kind, humble and respectful human being. As an unknown wildcard, Dimash, at age 22, opened the new season of The Singer in Jan of 2017. This is a Chinese competition for music professionals. Dimash didn’t win it ( he was runner-up) but he stormed China and ended up working there for 3 years. The Chinese Dears love him to bits.

Dimash got his masters degree in 2021. After that, he wasted no time in attaining his goal of achieving the highest degree of education. Recently, I heard that he is planning to defend his doctoral dissertation this year. As a Dear, I look forward the day when he will be officially called Dr. Dimash or Dimash Qudaibergen, PhD.
That is another aspect I like about Dimash. He did not forget the value of education. Moreover, it appears that he is properly managing his income as he is putting up businesses right and left.

There's a LOT to unpack with this performance. You have to understand that it was more than just his brilliant performance that makes this whole thing absolute perfection. This was season 5 of the popular music competition "Singer" (previously "I Am a Singer") and this was the first night of that season. The audience is made up of 500 members of the Chinese music industry- artists, producers, and other industry professionals- and the contestants are all well-established musicians in the Chinese music scene who are basically looking to either revive their careers or accelerate them. Unlike American music competitions shows you cannot audition for "Singer" you must be invited by the producers; a producer had caught one of Dimash's performances in a competition and thought he would make an interesting novelty wild-card addition to boost ratings in the upcoming season.
Prior to the first night the producers rank the artists based on how well they feel they will be received by the audience, with the artist they feel least likely to get votes performing first. Dimash was not only the youngest competitor in the show's history but also only the second non-Chinese competitor in the show's history and mostly unknown outside of his home country. He didn't speak the language and his performance style was very different, plus he was singing in French so he was ranked the lowest to win over the judges and therefore performed first.
So... Consider this: The other performers, who had no knowledge of Dimash, are sitting backstage waiting to perform and watching this. Ultimately they end up chasing after him for the remainder of the season! Can you imagine? And this was just his opening performance! Not to mention that in the 7 1/2 years since this performance which propelled him onto the global stage he has continuously worked to perfect his craft. And this song, while a beautiful showcase of his range, isn't the top nor the bottom of his vocal range.
Definitely keep diving into his body of work; there's no end to his talent and the ways in which he can surprise you! Love from Oregon!

Dimash was 22 when he wowed China and the world with this performance.
This was his first performance in the sing off there. He did not know Mandarin or English and was as lost as he could be language wise.
Now age 30, having completed his doctoral studies before turning 29, he has studied classically/operatically since just before turning 5 and still training, He is also trained in contemporary and pop vocals plus he is trained and plays several instruments.
Dimash has perfect pitch and is an entertainer extraordinaire as he is also a dancer and adds other moves which wow the crowds.
He is tall at 6'3", an athlete, philanthropist, and travels the world in concerts.

I am SURE you've gotten a ton of support from the 'DEARS', by now!!!!! They are a strong bunch of folks that are super dedicated to Dimash. I have watched Dimash for over 7 years, now, starting with the song that followed this one, as the 2nd installment of the 'Singer ' competition that kick started the International scene for Dimash. He had been singing in a few near by countries, by Kazakhstan. He was this show's youngest, and 'wild card pick' to appear on the show... he wasn't yet quite 23. I can't imagine when new people see him for the first time, now, 7 years later, with the songs that he has been doing, in recent times. Although, he's been on a steady , uphill trip!!! His amazing training, instructors, and mentors , let alone natural ability, have been his basic history. You've got alot to listen to, and be amazed, now that you've gotten started!! have fun!!! This song is one of the most difficult songs to sing and made Dimash a mega-star overnight in 2017 (The Singer).
The song comes from the famous Canadian-French rock opera 'Starmania' (1978) and is known in the English-speaking world as Tycoon (1995). Music: Michel Berger and Luc Plamondon (French original text). The English adaptation is by Tim Rice.
That's how it all started: In 2017 Dimash received a wildcard for the “The Singer” competition in China. He was the youngest participant ever (22 years old). Foreign participants were actually forbidden at that time. The director ignored the ban, believing Dimash would only stay 1 or 2 episodes and then go home.
This competition is not a talent show. Only professional, award-winning singers participate. Nobody knew or heard Dimash before and he had to start first ... and after his first song "SOS" Dimash captured the hearts of over 600 million viewers and a mega-star was born overnight. The next day bodyguards were at his door and now he is a superstar but without airs... just our Dimash.
The competition consisted of 14 rounds over 4 months. The jury consisted of 500 spectators who knew music, not just your average "Joe". They were well screened to be sure they would be able to judge the musicians fairly and competently. With up to 1 billion people watching this TV program and international interest was aroused. The performances were uploaded to TH-cam ... and so we became Dimash's Dears.
The Chinese organizers planned... but Dimash came, sang and stayed ... for the next 3 years in China ... but he only finished second in the competition because he is not Chinese (conditions have changed: 2018, Jessie J. Won).

Dimash is not about range, as incredible as it is, he is about storytelling and emotions and serving the song. He is perfect in every register, even when the entire song is just in his mid range, and is great in every style and technique, but most of all he is a soul healer.
Well said and I agree. My world has changed since finding Dimash. I struggle with depression and often hoped I wouldn’t wake up the next morning. Made huge decision to not only leave my home (rarely do) but to go from US to Prague and Düsseldorf for Nov concerts. Trip of a lifetime if I stay brave until then. I value the emotions he conveys deeply. We are fortunate to be here to witness Dimash.

This was from a Chinnese song contest titled "The Singer". It was his first performance and everyone's mind in the audience was melted.
SOS is part of the French/Canadian musical/rock opera Starmania. The hero finds his girlfriend dead and sings this song over her dead body. The last words are a goodbye cry: 'Sleep now baby, sleep...'.
What you witnessed is just the tip of the iceberg! You will see that Dimash IS the best singer/performer in this universe !!! Every one of his songs is unique and will leave you speachless...

Wow! Thank you for your honest reaction to our beloved Dimash. Welcome to the amazing wonderful world of Dimash. This performance was back in 2017, when he was just 22 years old. He went to China to participate in this singing competition as a wildcard contestant. He was the youngest singer among all other well established Chinese singers on this reality show. He went, only with a translator, not knowing Chinese and very little English. But you can see and feel his talent and skills and his total control over his many voices and most of all, he completely embodies the song and makes everyone who heard it feels the emotions of the song. Hence the goosebumps and chills and people crying. I am considered a recent Dear (Dimash fan), because I only discovered him last summer (2023), but I was instantly impressed and instantly hooked and can’t go a day without listening to his voice. It’s that powerful and that amazing and that magical. Listen to ALL his songs. He is not one to give in to music industry commercialism. He stays independent and creates music that he wants to make and spread his message of love and peace to the world. He came from a very musically talented family, but he also worked extremely hard to get to this level. He is classically trained. He just turned 30, and probably already finished his PhD in musicology. Dimash IS MUSIC 🎶. Besides his otherworldly talent, he is also a kind, humble and respectful human being. That’s what make all of us Dears love him even more. ❤😊
