There was a question about uncertainty in paper 1 it goes like:
A ruler with 1 mm as smallest graduation mark is used to measure something, and then it says what would be the percentage uncertainty to measure a 4mm reading. Something like that,
I got like 25 percent as my answer.
Does anyone get the same answer?

At 10.01, working out uncertainty with only value.. why do you not divide the 10mg by 2 or divide the 1mg by 2 like the rest of the calculations?

one judgement but there is uncertainty on both measurements you take

Isn't uncertainty half the smallest possible unit you can measure. so you have to divide it by two?
when taking a reading, yes. But for a measurement it isn't

in chemistry we learn it a different way and much easier way but essentially the same principle. so essentially if if you are taking one reading or as miss estruch said one judgement you do the smallest incriment divided by two= uncertainty for that equipment , if your taking 2 readings/2 judgements you do (the smallest incriment divided by 2) x2, which is just doubling the uncertainty
