You literally put into words everything I felt after watching this movie. Glad I’m not the only one who was underwhelmed after watching it. I wanted to like it, I really did, but it was so anticlimactic and dare I say kind of pretentious. Pity, because it’s such a beautiful movie and Nicolas Cage as Longlegs is amazing.

obviously you don’t have to, but i would suggest looking at some video analysis of the movie, because there is actually a lot more going on and subtly in the way things are shown and told you probably wouldn’t gather from the first viewing…like a lot of shots with the devil in the background, literally in this video idk if you knew it but when she’s looking out at the woods and sees the silhouette of longlegs there a few moments of the devil lingering in the fog behind him, and stuff like that…as well as actual plot stuff with the dialogue and then other bits of info from the website that reinforce things or explain things further that are in the movie
I appreciate the suggestion. Given that I see a lot of potential in this film, it's definitely one I wanna revisit in the future. My opinions tend to change pretty heavily as I rewatch movies and relisten to albums, so this film could definitely get better for me.
at first I don't agree with and it ok but I wanted you understand the point of view of someone who dislikes it .. but as soon as I heard you saying cheap Jump scare that did not build up .. I got the whole picture.. see its amazing how people see things differently.. the poloride picture part came after more than a 6 min of building up to it .. but that's what make things spacial.. the depth of things and how the individual explore it in details not by hearing about or getting hyped up .. I'm jot saying you are one but most who disliked it that I know because it didn't turn as they Wang it to be ans completely shift .. some feel angry misled it's amazing 😅
yeah i definitely wasn’t expecting jump scares going into it but the only one i feel like was truly a jump scare was the doll opening its eyes, because for lee she did get a vision from looking at the Polaroid, so for her that’s what it felt like
