As an e92 owner now after taking your advice about a year ago I’ll say e92 any day any time. Even my buddies with f8x platforms always talk about how good the e92 feels and drives
Both are my dream cars. That being said, I would say Type R. Mainly because you already have a M3 already. Yeah I know it’s different but the e9X is older and it’s been done many times already. Don’t get me wrong though, it’s my favorite M3 ever built. The Type R is newer and is continuously developing parts and it won’t break the bank (if you can find one for MSRP). It would also be interesting to see your take on a Type R. That’s me though. I’m going to replace my STI with a Type R.
Absolutely have to do the e92 M3! It’s the last of the V8 M3s and the e92/f80 are the best looking M3 generations IMO (coming from a current G80/former G82 and e92 owner).
I recently sold my FL5. It was super fun. Had the modern tech. Easy to modify/tune. It was simply just not fun to drive unless I was taking it down the backroads. FWD also wasn’t my thing. I hopped in my friends e92 for a day and it felt like I found what I was missing.
Wife has a stripper spec 08 E92 M3 she’s owned since 09. Both of us would LOVE to see you put your special touch on an E92. As always love the content and seeing your car journey 🙏🏻
Sold my G80 M3 xDrive for an E92 M3 ZCP 6 speed and no regrets. The S65 is a special engine and the car just has this great balance of analog and digital. Very happy with my purchase as I believe the E9x M3 will be a classic.
I just picked up a ‘25 fl5 and I’m extremely happy with it. There’s not a lot of quality builds for it out there on YT. So I’d be excited to see what you do if you get one. I have an e46 M3 and F80as well. 22:37
I was gonna mention would it be an option to buy a “cheaper” car instead of a g80 or gt3 while being able to keep the m3 on one of your old videos. Looks like you’ve already been there. Personally, would love to see you with a 2 door and the e92 would be perfect. You already have multiple sets of wheels you could rotate between the two and that might be key to keeping the e88’s a bit longer. I don’t think you’re a red car guy, but a red e92 with those silver e88’s would look amazing.
E92 M3! It's the "poverty GT3" but grab one in an manual and the driving experience is unmatched. Great car to bring to the track and not terrible expensive to maintain. Since you already have the F150 as the daily, the E92 will be a much more rewarding driving experience over the FL5 Type R. Love the Type R but the E92 M3 is a blast. Seriously looked at + spent some time in an F80 and the performance is amazing, but the driving experience on the E92 on the backroads was too good for me to make the swap. Get a proper exhaust and good set of suspension on the E92 and it's an amazing vehicle.
I own a '24 BB FL5 (stock) and '05 IB M3 (Ohlins + 18" wheels). I've never driven an E92 but have ridden in one and fully understand the glorious V8 sound. This is tough choice. For project car, E92 may be the winner BUT you may never want to sell it and that makes the GT3 purchase even harder. I bought the FL5 to be a fun "drive anywhere with the family" car with the idea that it may only be around for a couple years and I wouldn't really "care" about it (the E46M is the forever car) - a car that would be easy to move on from. Well, after driving the FL5 about 2000 miles it may be one of my favorite cars I've owned, out of the box. The E46M, stock, is somewhat boring so it has been a great project car. The FL5, stock, is a hoot and nails so many of my driver engagement points (seats, shifter, handling). And dare I say FWD with street-friendly power is kinda fun! I sold my F87 M2 to buy the FL5. With multiple cars, I found that they need to feel significantly different to keep me engaged. M2 + E46 was redundant so the M2 got boring. FL5 has been every bit as fun as the M2 but WAY more driver focused. TLDR: happy to see either get built!
I really do appreciate the feedback and insight! The whole multiple cars and having to feel different hit the nail on the head for me. I want the difference experiences between the ownerships. That's why I love the truck so much since it is completely different than the F80. Granted the e92 is different in terms of motor and feel, I almost feel it would be redundant having the F80 next to it.
Yes. The slab is properly pitched towards the driveway and the channels under the Swisstrax let it drain out. Floor is dry by nighttime and no issues in a decade of washing in here.
E9x m3. The driving experience that car gives is much greater than a type r imo. If it matters Dct>6mt for the s65. I daily drove 6 speed s65 for 2 years and it’s ok. Recently picked up a Dct e90 m3 and I really enjoy how the Dct and s65 work together and 95% of the cars I’ve owned were manual so I wasn’t too sure on Dct at first but I don’t regret it at all.
I've driven both manual and dct e9x's. As much as I am a diehard manual fan, I would most likely go DCT on the e92 as I feel the car was designed around the dct more-so than the manual. We will see what I come across on my hunt. It's all a matter of what is available when/if the search happens.
Hi, I have an f80 and an fl5. Both amazing cars but definitely different driving experiences. I see you’re from Jersey my family is from Ridgewood. If you wanna test drive an fl5 lmk!
Appreciate the feedback and offer! I actually drove my buddies fl5 a few months ago and love it. Really impressed with the car and made me smile a ton whipping it around.
Be careful with that wheel brush from Obsessed - the rubber cap at the tip can easily come off. This happened to me and I scratched the shit out of a couple HRE. (I wasn't inspecting the tip each time passed it in and out of each wheel opening, it's a shame that you need to with this brush)
Been using this same ez serial brush for 5+ years and the one before that I had for another 5+ years. The tip does wear off, but I throw a new rubber tip on for added protection every so often. Keeps the tip in good shape and gives the wheel even more protection. You can even see the tip pop off at 15:15 and me put it right back on. I check almost every 2-3 spokes to make sure it’s still on.
@Autofreakgarage owning a f82m4cs for the track, a g80 for events and the weekend and the type R. I would say for you the type r is the best daily. That being said you still have your truck. I honestly see you being happy with it if you drove it daily. I'm happy with it daily that's with wheels and full bolt on. The e9x with the same amount of money and mods will put a bigger smile 100%. I would say type r only if you get rid of your truck but other than that I would go e9x and sell the f80 for your dream porsche. Only way you'll truly be satisfied
The biggest thing the type r lacks is sound. I have the awe touring. Not much drone and sounds way better than stock. But would be no competition to the e9x with a good exhaust
@@Autofreakgarage I understand and I figured that would be the case so I think e9x would be the better choice for you. Type r is the best daily and reliable but imo on the weekends I eventually always crave a little more fun and sound

I have the same sentiment regarding the 991.2 GT3. It’s great but feels overpriced. Makes me lean more towards 997 GT3 or 981GT4. 200k is a 458 or V12 Ferrari 599, which I’d much prefer as a street car.
Right and don't get me wrong, it's worth every penny. I just have a hard time convincing myself to spend that kind of coin on one when there are some other wild cars in the bracket. I've looked into the 997 GT3 and honestly, it's still on my radar. However, pricing on them is just as crazy. A .2 is 991.2 pricing and a .1 is 991.1 pricing. As you mentioned, the 981 or even 718 GT4 is a better value IMO. Buckets, modern tech, manual, and some may argue better driving experience. But I know I would have that 911 envy if I went the GT4 route.
@@Autofreakgarage Yes 100%. I think the best value GT3 is 991.1(with a sorted engine). Then GT4’s are great if you desire a manual. I’m torn since my e92 m3 is DCT, and I’m debating going back to a manual for the next car. I’m not in a rush though and the DCT is great.

If you don’t have the cash to pay for the car in full, I wouldn’t recommend financing the car. Doesn’t mean you have to pay cash the day you get it.
