I'm 76, and I used to work at the R&D Dept at Aurora in NY in the early 70's where all their products including AFX and HO slots were designed and created. My genius older brother, and another genius guy designed the mechanics, and prototypes of tracks, chassis, all of it. I worked there for a year and a half as an artist, designing mass produced paint jobs, building models for promotional photos, and displays etc. it was a pure fun job!!
Awesome love AFX & TYCO. had a huge setup my dad made me like a train set with landscape and homes and buildings great time to be a kid probably the last good time to be a kid. My kids had it okay my youngest is 29 but I feel horrible for my grandkids they don't play with toys like this it's all fake crap that's on the television screen
Great fun like you said all of this hobby is fun l am working on getting my set up going working on putting down sound base like you have but brown . Like you rocks real is great thanks for answering my questions l appreciate have good Ho Ho Ho to your family 😊🎄🎁🎄🎄
Always enjoy your Videos! You've got the Best Slot Car Room Ever!!! For layouts like ours with lots of turns and elevation changes I'll take an SRT All day long 👍👍👍
When I was a kid dad had a 4 lane HO size track in 2 sections hoisted into the rafters of the garage... He gave it to his friend up the road so I got to see it connected, but never saw it running. It had working streetlights and everything... (This would have been circa 1970. I had the GT40, my brother had the Corvette split screen and there were a couple of porches...
@@Blueridgeracing859 They had a similar setup at a local department store, 4 track was a thing in the late 60's I guess, I grew up in the next decade so missed that. I have a feeling most of the racks were hand built too... Dad's generation built their toys. He made planes, built go-karts then raced speedboats (back when a plymouth 8 was 'Light enough' for a boat.
Hi Chris, I've got the same set and did the same thing, I changed out the cross overs to squeeze tracks, also added about 20 extra running feet of track with banked curves, my grandson and I love it. Looks like your having a great day running cars 👍. Great video 👍. Have a Merry Christmas and lots of fun with the family 🌲⛄🌲😎. Al

Looking good over there love the track man slot car building and racing is so much been doing this since I was about 8 years old loving every minute of it I can see that you do too
Love all the AFX cars, enjoyed seeing them run around your track. Your Tjet runs way better than mine does...lol I should probably turn my voltage down a bit when running them, I run at 18.5 volts. I think the Super G Plus was the best chassis AFX ever made, I prefer the endbell system to the brush barrel of the Mega G. The Super G Plus is what the Vipers are designed from. Happy Holidays Chris!
We finished homework after school in 63,64,65 and raced our Aurora cars listening to the Beatles' newly released A Hard Day's Night album, all the while using using 3M oil/mini screwdrivers and resurrecting dead car parts to make others go faster, or at least chug along competitively. Those were & still remain "...the good Ole Days" as Carly Simon once proclaimed. th-cam.com/video/5en2JMLA8Z0/w-d-xo.html
Hi ,Tory from Hartridge Race Track in Wisconsin. Love the layout. Wish you lived here as it looks like you need some friends to race too. I just combined my Giant Raceway with my new International Raceway.(yes, my wife is a saint, a very patient saint). It's awesome and enormous. Did you have to remove one lanes connections under your each of your terminal tracks to seperate the power or did they work the way you have them set up? I'm going to use Autoworlds variable voltage transformes like you did. Will need 4 of them I think. Keep posting. I really enjoy it. I want to show off my tracks and will probably follow your format. I'm not great with posting and dislike trolls though. Any suggestions appreciated.
Hey Tory from Wisconsin, I spent a ton of time up there working in the late 80’s. The separate terminal tracks work fine just as they are, no modifications needed. My video setup is not fancy. It’s just an IPhone with a tripod. Easy to upload to TH-cam.

Hey Hondaboy, that layout will fit on a 4x8 piece of plywood. Mine is on a ping pong table top which is 5x9 feet. I like the extra space along the sides and ends.
