Yours is much more reliable than mine. I could accept the faults if it at least shot reliably. But this is about as much fun as driving a cool car that stalls out at every stop light.
Despite all the negative press, I bought one of these carbines (polymer model). Mounted a red dot sight in place of the rear peep. Feeds Remington 115 gr. FMC very reliably, and is satisfactorily accurate - about 1.5" @ 25 metres. Completely satisfied with its performance.
I have purchased several firearms that I saw on You Tube having FTF and FTE problems. When I have a new acquisition I immediately take it down and thoroughly clean and then lube. Just might be my luck but all of those with problems functioned flawlessly. One of those was the GSG 1911 in 22LR. Cleaned and lubed and then ran 900 rounds without any problems.
Generally cheap firearms need a little tlc that that factory didn’t give them. After that they work. If you don’t know how to work on firearms or how to figure why the failures happen then uou need to buy more expensive firearms that have had someone else make sure they are in tip top shape.
I bought one of these and was on the fence about it cuz of the reviews but I love shooting it and mine never gives me many issues. Jamming is minimal from what I've seen. The ammo is cheap and people love shooting it. Just a fun toy for playing or pistol range.
Yeah... I see what you meant. Bummer. Unless I were to come across this one for an absolute steal, I think I might avoid it. For the cost, I think a Ruger PC carbine would be better bang for my buck. I like their "sporterized" AR style models with the handguard & adjustable stock, but I think I like the traditional style stock much much more, even if it's polymer. Something about a 9mm rifle with a traditional style stock, just seems like a lot of fun. Like a jacked up 22 or something. Great video, thanks for sharing it.
Because it’s a blowback design. Not gas operated. To help tame recoil and function “most” of the time The designer had to increase the mass of the bolt. So that’s the main reason why it had to look a little chunky. Plus keep cost down. Of course. So in my opinion knowing what they had to deal with I can live with the oversized bolt and charging Handel. Thank for your video. Cool to see people using the rifle.
i have my suspicion that the charging handle is thick because it needs to be heavy enough for proper timing of the action since it is direct blowback operated.
I have the same gun not one issue since the day I bought (2 years ago) it never a jam or loose screws or the 20 round falling out just use quality high grain ammo and Barretta mags.
I run PMC bronze through mine and I have had zero jams. I got it on sale for $400. Actually used my change jar to buy it! Great gun for the price, in my opinion. And it looks great too!
Just sold mine, was kinda fun but cleaning with no slide lockback really ruined the fun. My rear sight fell off multiple times you could wiggle the front sight on the barrel list goes on
If you shim the bigger mags with a match book cover it'll hold and feed. You've gotta watch the peep sight as it likes to come off. Oh yea, the barrel shroud comes off about every 4-500 rounds and the screw holding it together comes out. Other than these minor things, it's a pretty good gun...
I own one. Lots of comments on other sites. One video made sense. "The m9 magazine is to strong. " I disassembled one. Cut the of one of the bottom coils near the feeder plate. Assembled all and tested with Wheeler Spring Scale. Measured 3.5 pounds. OE magazine was 4.1 pounds. Took modified magazine to the range. Fired 15 rounds of Sig Sauer 9mm Elite FMJ through it . No jams!!I'll modify my other magazines.Online gunsmith named Bill Springfield adjusted my trigger for $55. Made it very crisp.
For anyone wanting to buy a Carbine go for this variant because although .30 carbine is commonly sold they're expensive and in some cases hard to find but the M1-9 execpts Glock mags which are sold at almost any gun shop
So i have had mine since 2016, after the first box, i started reloading 125 grain. It has cleared up any feeding issues. Only thing now is the odd glock brass that sneaks in there causes issues. Great gun. My buddy bought one as well. Same loads, no issues for him either. We reload for $0.06 a piece. Why would we not?
Been thinking about buying one of these myself. The reason I've been putting it off for a while is because I've heard good stories about them and I've heard bad stories about them as well. From what I've seen in a lot of other videos on TH-cam this carbine certainly has a few flaws such as the trigger pull, big charging handle and also the absence of a slide lock etc. Other than that you have a good video here on this carbine. Some claim to have a lot of problems with theirs and some claim to have little problems when firing this gun. I guess one should count theirself lucky if they have a Chiappa M1-9 that gives them little or no issues, but I may still purchase one someday.
love mine in synthetic but mag release & spring present a problem when returning back in. had to get replacement springs & button. have you had such a problem?
For $ 1,500 to 2,500 you can buy a military m1 30 cal.. 500,00 not so bad all autos screw up sooner or later mags ammo dirt etc. drop of locktite on screws works good
You keep tcomplaining about the "clunky" bolt carrier and charging handle. This is what it is, BECAUSE it is a blowback operated firearm and as such requires mass in the bolt to cancel the recoil energy... the alternative is a MUCH heavier recoil spring. I am planning to buy one of these, next month. Thanks for an otherwise excellent review!
Great quality editing and footage. I think a lot of the things about the M1-9 are acceptable... except for those plastic parts. It gives me doubts about the little gun holding up over time.
Well the the barrel band and bayonet lug can be replaced by original parts. The trigger looks like it could too but not 100% sure. So if you want to spend the money the plastic can be replaced. I am more interested in a better looking charging handle
The first 200 to 300 rounds through mine were a little rough but firing 147grain FMJ fixed that for a bit. Now after well over 1000 through it it will fire anything no problem. More so a fun gun than anything else. Mine is my bump fire toy. Only reason I dont get rid of it
Mine is doing well. I have no issues other than rear sight needed blue lock tight. Blow back design is is beefy. It's accurate enough at 50 yards but if you want to increase accuracy try a red dot.
The way I see it the jamming (look at 4min07) the round get stuck just at the height of the extractor, I think if the bold woud have an extractor situated at the top of the bold it woud solve the jamming problem
4:50 this gun shoots 9mm. The fact that you have a 12" group at 100 yards speaks to how accurate it is. The fact that you don't know that reveals how little you know about guns.
@@iloveshootingshit That doesn't surprise me. But some guns won't even hit the target at 50 yards with 9mm, so I would consider the accuracy of this gun to be between decent and pretty good.
k80clay good point. Speaking as a Canadian-& SKS owner-our SKS magazines are ‘pinned' to 5 rounds. They’re very affordable, about 1/2 of what they cost in the states, but our Government is trying to ban them-(& the 5 round maximum capacity rule is a bit of a drag)-so a 10 round pistol caliber rifle in a wooden stock looks great to me. The reviews, however are alarming.
It's not reliable. It doesn't use the same action. It uses a lot of plastic. It's accuracy isn't great. It can rattle itself apart enough to cause accuracy issues. This is not a good rifle. P.S. It's also going to be over $800 after taxes and fees. So in addition to the above it's really expensive for it is. That's going to be a hard pass for me.
It's practical but I'll stick with my Sub 2000 in 9 mm Glock mag. As you say, it is somewhat ugly and not really a .30 carbine. I'd rather have an original since it has already served everywhere with distinction. And, my Wife can handle an original .30 like a pro. I post as The Virus is upon us. Be safe, stay home and wash your hands. Best wishes all my fellows.
The Chiappa is a simple blowback action, which isn't going to cut it for 30 Carbine. If you want a 30 caliber, shell out $1,000 for a copy, or a decent original (if you can find one).

Going from a gas operated rotating bolt to a blow back operation requires that extra mass. I know it’s unsightly but it is also practical.
Well the original M1 Carbine wasn't known as a super reliable gun either (by modern standards). Not a bad gun.

Did they not put a slide lock on it? And if that is the accuracy at 100 yards.....then it is right in particular with the original .30 Cal!

nice music!
