    Wow what a few tiring days they must have been judging by the number of geets you guys had 🤙I love the the configuration of the spot without too much coral to sever lines not to mention that any place you can catch land based doggies on topwater is heaven 🔥

    Spam Island! I fished here back in 2010 and it was amazing. The GT's were chasing schools of flying fish which caused them to fly out of the water and onto the island. We would pick them off the beach and toss them back out on our line and hold on tight.

    +jimmy Badong I'm going to plan my first GT trip. Could you tell me with kind of poppers or stickbaits you guys use? In Europe it's hard to get good competent advice. Thanks a lot and tight lines!

      I fished for GTs for the first time earlier this year with no experience whatsoever. I ignorantly thought that the assortment of salmon lures that I already had would be just the thing to look appetizing to them (large Kastmasters, Mepps spinners, etc.) and I was right BUT the hooks were nowhere near up to the task as even smaller fish simply bent the hooks straight. Luckily I had also brought along a few Halco Twisty lures which saved the trip with their stout hooks. The largest one I caught was close to 100lbs which attacked a live milkfish, it was landed after nearly spooling 300 yards of 80lb braid but I found that it had bent the Gamakatsu size 6/0 half straight in the process. The moral of the story - they will bite just about anything you throw at them but bring enough hook!

      +Jimmy Badong How do you get there? From Guam?

    • @jimmybadong943
      @jimmybadong943  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +Mark White Guam to Manila then Sydney then Samoa then it's a 8day boat ride to canton islands.. It's very far.. And very difficult to get fishing permits coz it's a preserve.. It took our group organizer 7 yrs to get a fishing permit there.. It's an amazing place... Total of GTs landed 108.. :) I'm just slowly putting videos together I have tons lol..
