What’s one daily habit you practice to keep your home tidy + clutter free? 🤍 P.S. Have you joined the party on Instagram yet?! Be sure to follow me there for more daily inspiration and updates! 😉 Here’s the link: instagram.com/ashlynne.eaton/
when i do laundry I put my clothes up right away I also clear my desk and tidy up and put all my tech away in my tech pouches so I can use them the next day it feels good to have a cleared and clutter free desk same with clothing as well. I do enjoy your videos
Ashlynne Eaton super helpful tips! One thing that I do is to have a base level of cleanliness/tidy that my house must be at before I can leave for work or go to bed.
I wash a load of laundry every day and soon as I get it going I fold the load from the previous day and put it away. That way we never have a big pile of dirty or clean laundry to deal with, just little bits every day, it usually takes less than 10 minutes.
*Summary:* 1. Make your bed 2. Keep your counters clean 3. If it can be done in 90 seconds - do it now 4. Clean your dishes after every meal 5. Tidy your desk at the end of the day 6. Put your shoes, bag & coat away immediately 7. Put your clothes away after changing 8. Spend 10 minutes tyding up before going to bed 9. Create and stick to a cleaning schedule
When we got a new closet I designated one drawer to put clothes I wore but are clean enough to be worn again. I always hated to mix them with unworn clothes and now they don’t pile up on a chair 🙂
This seems like a smart idea. Probably wouldn't hurt to spray something nice on the bed, too. Some sort of fabric refresher. I'm a terrible that maker... So we let our bed breathe all day until my husband comes home and makes it. 😂 I spend like I swear 15 to 20 minutes making my bed and then he will come home and remake it because it doesn't look good enough for him. 😂🤷♀️ So I stopped bothering. I'm not offended I know it looks like trash when I make it. 😂
@@Megan_Truly oh wow was he in the military before lol. Maybe just fold the blacket/sheets up so at least visually it's tidy until he comes home to make it picture perfect lol
Btw don't make your bed first thing after getting up when you're allergic to dust mites but let it breath a little so the warmth doesn't stay in your bed, cause the warmth helps the dust mites become more, that's not great for you allergy! Helps me a lot if I let the bed air out 30 minutes and then make it
Hi Ashlynne Before I make my bed in the morning I let my sheets air out for about 30 minutes and I always do the dishes after every meal. Hand washed. Thank you for sharing❤
I follow the flylady systeem for cleaning. Morning and evening routine, ones a week weekly home blessing (aka power hour) daily zone cleaning. Love the system!
to HABIT 9 i use alliteration to guide me. for example, on Mondays i clean mirrors, the microwave; Tuesdays toilets, wed-windows, Th toilets/ shower, friday vacuum & mop floors saturday: shabbat💙🤍💙 sunday: sheets and towels
Great tips! 💞 My advice is also doing a little bit of cleaning everyday. I used to do a massive cleaning at the end of the week but I realized it took all my weekend even my house is a total clutter-free one with a very little furniture. So now I clean a little everyday and a tiny bit more at one weekend day if necessary.
Decluttering is one of my favorite hobbies. Yes I’m weird, albeit interesting 🧐 Even though I’m not a minimalist in the traditional sense, minimalism influences my life on a daily basis. Principles over aesthetics in my case. Have an awesome day! 🌿
I use a tidy tote. If I see something out of place I put it in the tote. I do a 5-10 minute clean up before bed and in that time I return and empty the bin nightly.
I returned to regularly watching your videos after drifting away for a while and I'm really impressed by the level of your presenting skills! Stellar job, I can see your hard work and dedication paying off :)
Hi Ashlynne :) I started to tidy every item once I'm done using when I had a place for everything. Since then, I don't even realize that I tidy little by little all day long. It just became obvious and uncounscious :) Thanks for being who you are
I have the same sort of rule-the 5 second rule. If it can be put away to the count of 5, do it right then. If it would take longer, you get to decide whether to do it now or later. It’s amazing how I suddenly look up and realize how much clutter was so close to its home.
At such a young age u r so clear in ur thoughts that is a very big thing to achieve❤️... definitely want to become like u one day...also I love ur voice❤️
What list app are you using for that weekly routine? My favourite tip is "never leave a room empty-handed" so that cups, plates, items that belong in other rooms get taken out throughout the day as I'm going to another room anyway :)
I always tidy up the kitchen counter and the coffee table in the living room before bed. When these things are clear, I feel more calm. And I like waking up to a clean and refreshed space.
Thank you for helping us. I am making changes also. I have been making my bed as soon as I get up since I was a little girl. Part of our morning routine ! Now I m putting away electronics I use once a day, thanks to you!
Thanks for this video, Ashlynne! One of the most impactful habits I have adopted over the last few years, is a nightly reset. As you said, it only takes a few minutes. It makes the world of difference to wake up to a space that is neat! ❤️❤️
Randomly I’ll call out “clean sweep” and my kids will know to do a quick tidy of the house putting random things in their homes (I help too). “Shoe patrol” is another one that I’ll call out so they know to put all the shoes on the shoe shelf in the garage.
Oh I loved that! We used to play the laundry game when my kids were small. They all ran their clothes to their drawers and towels away while I folded quickly. It was so fun, and useful.. then they grow up and laugh that they I had convinced them it was a game.
i go to bed with a clean kitchen and picked up playroom as a working mom - refreshing to wake up to start coffee and have kids begin open play time in organized playroom!
this is a great reminder to do the little things now. and i would like to add one habit: everytime i get up and leave the room, i take something with that doesn't belong in there (e. g. the coffee cup from the couch table to the kitchen). this saves you one way and you don't forget about that coffee cup, snack bowl ...
My golden habit is: cook only once a day (several dishes if needed be, several portions so I have leftovers to freeze or for lunch) and clean the kitchen right afterwards. Putting everything in the dishwasher and then wiping all the surfaces and shining the sink takes me 8 minutes (I timed it once :) and the house looks totally different with a clean kitchen.
I cook almost all of our meals at home, so I'm cooking 2-3 times daily. I do cook some veggies ahead for meal prep, but I've never gotten into a routine of cooking our full day of meals at once. You're a flipping genius!
Chastety Cooper Thank you! You are very kind! It is easy as Spaniards don’t cook breakfast (we usually have milk and coffee and toast or similar). We have to pack lunch for my husband anyway as he takes a tupperware to work. And I get home rather late to start cooking lunch so it is easier to just heat a tupperware too. And keeps my kitchen pristine until dinner! Our first step was: cook twice as much as you need each night and freeze the leftovers for another day. It worked fine for a long time. Now I made a weekly schedule so we know what to eat and what to have for dinner every day, so I make sure we eat the right amount of vegetables and fish. Both systems work great!
I run the dishwasher every evening and unload in the morning while the kids have breakfast. This allows for an open dishwasher to put items in throughout the day - after meals and snacks.
I definitely struggle with keeping my counters clear. No matter what, I make sure to clear my desk at the end of the day...even if that means staying a few extra minutes at work. It's so mentally refreshing to come to work and not see a cluttered desk. Now that I'm only in the office once a week though, I've had to make sure people know where to place things in my absence to avoid seeing piles of paper in my chair or placed haphazardly on my desk. Great list.
I love cleaning in general but the kitchen sometimes gets a bit messy and I LOVE a clean sleek kitchen! I love putting appliances away and always wiping my counters down.
I have a weekly chore list and try to check each chore off before the weekend. I had a similar cleaning schedule to Ashlynne's and personally, it just didn't work out for me as I find days vary a lot. All I want to know is that everything's been done 👍
OMG I love your couch! I particularly like the pull out part of it. Can you let us know where you got it? My daily tidying habit I've been trying to implement is putting away all of my work stuff at the end of the day.l
Clean My Space here on TH-cam helped me creating and sticking to my cleaning routine. Melissa has all the answers to any kind of cleaning question 😊 Loved the video ❤️
Good Video. So, I never leave any clothes on the flour, or chairs or anywhere else. I just can't do that. I always put them away, after I change. I always tidy up, after I did something, it is just how I am 😄 I admire the people, who don't care that much of having everything tidy. I get very uncomfortable around messy space. 😁
Skyler Adriel, I have made a spot in my closet for my bag. I also have a hook with my car keys right above it. That way, as I leave the house, my bag and keys are always in the same spot so I don’t ever waste time looking for either. Works well for me!😄
Hey Ashlynne, I really enjoyed these easy yet brilliant tips. For me, I want to do better at putting coats and shoes away as I come in the door. I also had a question about where your couch was from, and if you remember what the model is called? Thanks for taking the time to put this type of content together.
Here's my question: how do you have the energy to do anything after doing so many tiny tasks all day long? It sounds so simple but i find it so draining to be constantly picking up and straigtening and tidying all day x.x Edit: love the video btw, I am just a very low-energy human :(
Personally I find it to be a lot less work doing them as I go throughout the day, then having a giant mess to pick up at night! 🤍 Tidying up is just a part of life, but I think that overall doing it bit by bit throughout the day makes the burden a lot lighter in the long run
I would suggest you figure out why you’ve got such low energy first. And if you have that low of energy perhaps you don’t make as much of a mess as you might think 😉 I’ve o my been very low energy when I’m in a state of bad mental health, but that may not be your reason at all- just a suggestion to look into it! I have to say though, tiny little steps do make a huge difference 💕 take care!
@@cinthiaham1517 thanks! Been trying to figure it out for years. No luck yet :/ i dont make too much of a mess, but my beloved cats sure do xD and husband... lol
I like to pick out my outfits for work on Sunday night. It's kind of fun. It's stress-free and I have more time to experiment with the wardrobe I already own. That way I can sleep in an extra 15 minutes everyday 😇
I used to use my blender on a daily basis so I kept it out on the countertop. Now I realize that my habits changed and currently I am rarely making smoothies . So I will put it back into the drawer. Hence my tip is to adapt those little things to your current habits, everything flows...;)
my apologies if you have answered this question several times to other, but could you please tell me where is your couch from....Love it.....i enjoy your videos.
I clean my house and then the next day I dive into small jobs, like organising an area, or a task I haven't done yet. This way means it's easier to do these tasks as my home is clean and organised. Two daily tasks I do is clean the bathroom basin and the kitchen surfaces.
I've been binge watching these in the hopes that my little bit of work each day will eventually leave me half as "together" as you 😅 Love the content and idea of it all, but i truly have an issue with having and wanting too many material things!
Would you consider doing a video or blog post sometime delving a bit more into your cleaning schedule and how you divide it up over the course of the week? (looking at 8:07 in the video) Curious how long it takes you each day? This is something I've struggled with; the idea of doing one chunk each day sounds like a great idea, but sometimes I have a little difficulty with implementation. :) (usually due to busy days so I don't feel like doing even the little chunk) If this is already in another video or a blog post, apologies! If so, could you please direct me to the appropriate spot? Thank you!! Love your videos - I've already implemented a few habits that you've mentioned to help me have a more relaxing, minimalist lifestyle! I do try to keep things picked up in my own home as well, and I totally agree with you about cleaning the dishes after every meal - it's *so* easy to let them pile up (believe me, I know)! (oh and making the bed too - every day, first thing!)
I feel like even before I became a minimalist, I was a pretty clean and organized person. Nowadays, I realize that cleaning and organizing really doesn't take much time once you get started, and minimalism has definitely made it less stressful 😊
A one more quick habit/tip works wonders for me is brushing my hair at the balcony and put away the fallen hair as soon as I get home so there will be so much less fallen hair on the floor. 😅
What’s one daily habit you practice to keep your home tidy + clutter free? 🤍

Nowadays, I realize that cleaning and organizing really doesn't take much time once you get started, and minimalism has definitely made it less stressful 😊
yes I feel this way too! :)
amazing so satisfying to watch
A one more quick habit/tip works wonders for me is brushing my hair at the balcony and put away the fallen hair as soon as I get home so there will be so much less fallen hair on the floor. 😅
You are living my ideal life 💡
