How incredible that you are sharing your amazing story, Sarah. You are so articulate about your journey and you will be an inspiration to others facing bipolar and other mental illnesses.
Thank you for sharing Sarah Funny what you say about sunlight We are going into winter here in Austraila I’m in a mad rush to convert a bus and head north for winter My son has had a rough time with his bi polar With change of diet sunlight and exercise we’re hoping to avoid a hospital admission this spring
So inspiring to hear your story Sarah. Indeed, all these podcasts are fantastic. I’m bipolar II and have been taking 200mg lamotrigine pd for 10 years (having tried many other meds/treatments alongside). After having my first post-pandemic blood test last week, and told that my A1c had gone from 5.7 to 11.8(!), I’ve since adopted a ketogenic diet and feel better already. I’ve been doing daily ‘prick’ tests and my blood sugar has gradually gone down from 12.6 to 5.8 after just one week! Of course it’s very early days, but feeling positive. Thanks for producing these very informative talks.
Congratulations James, on the health improvements you are noticing! Are you receiving support from a psychiatrist/dietician? Let us know if you are looking for help, we may be able to connect you clinicians working in this area. Perhaps you might consider coming on the podcast as a guest at some point to share your experience?
I'm thrilled to find Bipolarcast! I live near Stanford; I'd love to participate in the trial but it seems like it ended on August 11th. Does anyone know if another trial is in the works? Dyane Harwood, Author, "Birth of a New Brain--Healing from Postpartum Bipolar Disorder" Foreword by Dr. Carol Henshaw, Endorsed by Kay Redfield Jamison, Dr. Linda Gask et al.
Thanks for getting in touch Dyane! There are several trials underway funded by the Baszucki Brain Research Fund. I would be glad to connect you to someone in the BBRF Metabolic Psychiatry group who can help! Feel free to drop me an email at iainhcampbell@gmail.com
I'd like to add one more comment; Sarah, your episode is incredible! You and I have something in common: neither of us recall our children's early days well. Due to my treatment-resistant bipolar depression, my recollections suck (for want of a better word!) and I'll always be bitter about that. There's no sugarcoating it! On a *much*brighter note, thank you from the bottom of my heart for doing this episode. I hope to join you someday as a ketogenic advocate! 👍🏼🌈 All my best to you & your family, Dyane 🌞
That's my sister! You go girl! Love you Sarah!
Thank you, Sarah!!! You have an amazing story of strength and recovery... thanks for being a beacon of light to others!

If you haven’t already, it would be great if you could have the author of the book, “Anatomy of an Epidemic.”
