    Dope! Thank you for this video with the legend! Listening to the SP1200 project now. Side note: you may want to correct that in the video which stated that it is an Akai SP1200 when in fact it was made by E-Mu. Peace!

    I understand what Finesse was saying about limitations with creating music, but I feel like one thing he didn't mention was knowledge.
    Yea we might not be limited with the amount of different plugins, effects, and kits at our finger tips, but when we all start all of us lack knowledge of using those tools and using them to develop a work flow.
    Lack of knowledge & purpose is the biggest limitation when creating.

    Quick question. I've been rocking with ableton live since ver. 7, Just recently copped a MPC Ren. How the hell do I route the output of ableton to the MPC? So i can warp my wav files them re sample through the MPC.

    Man... I use a vynal record player, to record into audacity and then rip and cut into virtual dj studio where I manually key the cuts to keys on my laptop. I record the cuts live and then export and place the cuts in fl studio. And then I have to manually sync it to the beat....... I NEED AN MPC!@#!$!@#!

    • @ismellpedo
      @ismellpedo 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Carlos p dude record into slicex then chop it there. You don't need audacity or a anything else. Turntable+phono preamp (if you have one) > audio interface/ sound card > fl studio

    • @gorillabraudcast474
      @gorillabraudcast474 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      My homie uses a program called bit wig and bangs out beats insanely quick. Personally i need something with pads/keys and knobs to geg into the session. Ive tried tracking out shit on software and I found it to be boring and hard on my eyes. But if u like working with a keyboard and mouse and you like the end result keep doing it . I dont use computers at all in production i record from my mixboard to 8 track tape machine which is awesome until you need to burn a cd or email or upload your music. Then i gotta go to daw which in most cases onlh has 2 inputs which defeats the purpose of recording in 8 individual tracks. If you make you music in the computer its so much easier to send beats to your friends or post music to bandcamp . For those reasons ide say its a good idea to have both hardware and software

    • @gorillabraudcast474
      @gorillabraudcast474 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@dominicgray2187 agreed.personally i go fof machines that add their own character to the sample I.E sp1200, eps etc. It seems like the new machines lack that.. if u took the same sample on a mpc live and compared it to the native instruments machine , it would be identical.... pitching samples down no longer creates those artifacts and funk that sp1200s or mpc 60 s , eps 16 etc. Would do... that being said hes right about the importance of work flow. Its amazing how the operation systems are layed out in the new mpcs are, im intrigued by the ease of use and the displays are. ..seriously takes me hours to chop a break up right but i find that its worth every minute once i get that crunch that im after . Its not just the bit rate its the tiny bits of digital information that either gets left out or stretched (aliasing) that the older generation samplers produced... im not sure if im even making sense but bottom line is use what u got to the fullest and be original.. dont be using presets and sound banks yall. Thats cheating
