You have a well thought out and designed rotary axis that functions great! Really enjoyed your video. I've owned a CNCRP 4824 Pro for 4 years and would like to add a rotary axis however I can't justify the $2700 + that Avid (CNCRP) charges for the kit. If your willing to share your setup, I would appreciate any info you would provide.
Matt Reidy absolutely. I'm having difficulty with the way Fusion 360 handles the transition speeds at the end of parallel paths. It's not controlled by lead in/out. It's bothersome jerky for us router guys.
How did you set this up in Mach? And what did you have to set your dip switches to in the control box? I have the cncrp pro with everything all wired up. Just can’t figure out the tuning setup.
With parts of the bit going back and forth in mid air it seemed like the z-axis was off a bit, but as all you were doing was rounding it out, there didn't seem to be to much of an issue.
Curious if a larger dust shroud will be coming from the various manufacturers to handle 4th axis work. The existing shoes don’t seem to catch dust any where near as well as they need to when you are using the 4th axis.
Instead of Aspire I have VCarve Pro 9.5 and I'm curious as to whether you have ever tried cutting an STL file on a Tapered Piece? VCarve has the same setup as Aspire for Rotary Cuts and though I have figured the Rotary cut into a Cylindrical piece.. I haven't yet found if it is possible to make this same cut in a Tapered piece.
@Matt Reidy Awesome, I have been planning on getting a CNCRouterParts table for awhile now and it looks like it might actually be happening soon. I have been interested in doing a rotary axis for said purchase and am I glad to see that you shared a video of your setup. Are you planning on using it only in that position or do you have plans to locate it elsewhere in order to get more height?
Hi sir Can you please help me how to write the G-code for 4 axis. I would like 4 axis and y axis turn same time but different feed rate. Thank you very much for your help!
don't get me wrong, it is a great tutorial but that is exactly what I was looking for in your video was how to make sure you clear your chuck and tail stock. you sort of explained it when you added the dowel through the middle but it would me nice to have it explained in more detail.
@@MattReidy Nope. it's not the same, please never lie or shame from mistakes beause we can learn from others mistakes, i can see you crashed very hard on the chuck there it chipped off the edge of the chuck clamb...good tutorial btw
Awesosme, finally the video I was looking all the time! I’ll bring my CNC in the next coming weeks from China, And I defenetly need the 4th axel, could you send me some links of the 4th axel you’ve bought? Thanks a lot in advance By the way I used to live in China for 12 years and now I live in Frankfurt Germany.
I have CNCRP 48x96 pro. Was thinking of adding rotary as well. Few questions if you don't mind. Did the kit come with instructions for setting up in Mach3? Did you get additional controller from CNCRP? Thanks!
Cordial saludo.
Excelente trabajo.
Gracias por compartir.
Aunque fue hace varios años para otros apenas es un ayer.
Bendiciones de salud.
this is great im waiting on my 4x8 from them now! glad i addes a 5th axis on plug and play electronics cause im doing this.

How bad was the crash when you hit the chuck?
Nice. I just recently got my CNCRP 48x96 assembled this year. LOVE IT. I am also planning on doing a 4th axis add on. (already got the electronics)
Happy to share my build details with you when you're ready.

after 29:12, u use another stock, what happens with first stock u were working on it?
If you look at the jaw closest to the camera in the last shot, you should know what happened. I seen it coming!
Hi Matt I am setting up my unit and was wanting to know what Post processor are you using and your setting in mach 3. Have you posted that anywhere.
A pity that you machined chunks out of your new tail stock running centre...! I'll bet that made a bit of a racket...!

How did you get a scanned image of your head?
Using an old XBox Connect device with Skanect software.
Nice!

Describe more about what you're trying to do please...
Dude, you forgot to turn on the vacuum cleaner

I've got it rigged to be able to raise and lower into the table. See for details: drive.google.com/open?id=0B23R36bDW2nzTlo5aV95ckdSVUU
Next up: Simultaneous 4 axis
Which software did you use to generate g code
Vectric Aspire
@@MattReidy thank you so much , is t friendly software to use / learn ?
there is a link to download this software sir?
I like to cut aluminum and am looking at the desktop pro from AvidCNC would you recommend getting this or a mini mill cnc for cutting aluminum?
trialnterror aluminum sheet would be fine
hey man, how do you like the cncrouter parts machine? any problems or pointers? I just ordered the 4x8 version
Great machines - no problems at all. Easy to build and maintain. Great support too.

did you change the part theres two different parts in this video 29:10 29:16
Nope. It’s the same one.
You had to have changed something. The parts aren't the same. Your tool did not have enough stick out to clear the chuck.

I didnt know you can use mac for mach 3 or did you install windows virtual on your mac?
Windows is running on the iMac hardware
Got questions--Tried to get in touch, talk faster than I type.Where did you get the stl of your head
I made the STL using an XBox Kinect

How has the CNC from China worked? I am very tempted to buy one but I am concerned with wiring money anywhere out of the country.
buenas dias cuanto cuezta la maquina y donde puedo conseguirlo soy de trujullo peru
Si te refieres al CNC lo puedes conseguir aqui: www.cncrouterparts.com

No instructions but I have it all documented and glad to help. Yes - you need a 4th axis controller - I got mine from CNCRP to match the rest.
I need it. Please
It was a good job.But was the bit big for finishing the job?I really enjoyed.thanks
Thanks - I could have use a smaller bit on the finish pass, sure, but I was happy with the results.

Vetric's which version is this?
Shibin Krishnadas version 8.x I believe
That chuck certainly doesn't center very well.
How did you connect your rotary to your electronics?I am using all 4 axis now.
James Chira it requires its own motor controller just like every other axis.

are you working in Parallels on that iMac?
Marino Gallo No, just running Windows natively...
Matt Reidy got it, you set up a partition and installed Windows ... 7 or 8?
I’m new to this so please excuse the newb questions ...
Marino Gallo yes. Use Apple drivers w Win10.
Only use for a imac in a machine shop is to use it as parallels.
This iMac runs Windows 10 natively... no need for Parallels etc. ;)
Why aren't you using a fixed camera or at least hold it without a lot of shake? I get dizzy watching your video.
4th axis sorry typing to fast.
