Not a long answer. We are viewing this as the audience watching the video. I'm pretty sure this video was targeted to us and not to the inhabitants of the fictional world of Teyvat.
So, if you look closely Arle's friend (Clervie) actually wears a pendant with a Lumidouce Bell design, which is the flower that the old Knave is holding as well as the flower Arle sees during the fight. In other words, the flowers definitely represent Clervie, which makes the line about pruning the flowers even more brutal
In the original Chinese, Clervie is said to be the previous knave’s biological daughter! This fact didn't translate in the English version for some reason
That's a shame to miss out on that

As for the flower, 1: The lumidouce bell in the "language of flowers" of Fontaine represents "Farewell", and 2: was the charm that Clervie (Arlecchino's orphanage sister) wore on her necklace. it's a double entendre to saying goodbye to both her friend and her past, I believe, as she embraces the curse and becomes what she has to in order to defeat her 'mother'.

Interpretation of the flower:
They're Lumidouce Bells. The same as the Pendant Clervie had, so the wilting flower = Clervie.
Somehow when dealing with death, Peruere's curse grows? The two times we see the curse growing its when death is involved - burying a spider, and the dying lumidouce bells in the ground wilting/dying.
Is she absorbing something off it? Who knows.
The sad thing is that Arlecchino has become the oppressor herself. And just like she faced her last master so will Lyney and Lynette. I don't think there is redemption for her this could be the saddest story Genshin has told so far.
I guess that's true, because the Blood Debt Directive that she applies to enemies in combat also in turns buffs her bond of life (her curse, in a way, cause she can't be healed in it), and the Blood Debt Directive does DoT which can drain the life of enemies (basically death making her stronger, reflected in her kit I suppose)
@@kismeteors I think she was supposed to be something else not a human. Possibly an angel. This is 100 percent tied to Khaenri'ah. Instead she became the harbinger of death. I know when I see the name of her story quest, if it does not match her constellation be prepared for some turns regarding Arlecchino. I don't think she will reach redemption but she might find out why she was cursed.
Still have a creepy feeling that it's tied to the story Cater tells Lanoire about a girl that stole a flower in a garden. Which would make her Lilith or something close to it. As far as I understand Arlecchino was an orphanage herself so "Mother" is not her birth parents. Cater is seen confronting Arlecchino so they have a connection possibly her real child which would be ironic because it would mean that she can't face what he became, only pretend to be a loving parent.
@@alexanderericson8628 I really don't think she's become the oppressor at all. Challenging her own kids to a fight is not necessarily being done with the intent to kill. If Peruere is not making the kids fight one another, then she's taking it upon herself to test them, and thus I don't see any real oppression.
@@effortlessfury It depends if Lynette was set up to be rescued or of it was genuine. Myself believe he was set up by her and that is what they are arguing about. Arlecchino has changed since that time it's possible that she cared about the orphanage once. Its also the trailer were lyney and lynette are clearly symbolised as pawns in a larger scheme.
The thing about Peruere being able to use pyro without a vision. Its possible the curse she has allows her to use pyro or her starting to use pyro is a sign that her vision is manifesting itself as she's reaching the height of her ambition. There have been cases where vision users are able to use their vision powers as it starts to manifest itself. Prime example is ayaka's vision story and the animated version of it where her opponent was actually ayato.
A reminder that this is the first proper short 2D animation by Hoyoverse themselves without coworking with any other animation studio.
That dismissive comment about "grotesque wilted flowers" was about Clervie and the other kids who didn't make the cut. Good riddance to that false "mother."

About the flowers, in the JP dub, the mother more specifically says that she should've pruned the flower that *didn't grow well* earlier instead of waiting. So it seems like the two flowers represent arle and clervie. That's why the mother also says later that a bird tied down cannot fly, implying that arle has been tied down by clervie. The idea is i guess if the bad flower had been pruned earlier, the other better one could've gotten all the nutrients.
Arle's last line to her mother also differs a bit in the JP and EN. She says "That's impossible for you" in JP. I guess the idea is more that the mother is not good enough or strong enough to guide arle into being a king. Arle's still refusing, but i would say it's closer to rejecting the whole viewpoint of the mother rather than just refusing to be king.
Idk if the JP matches with the CN in these two lines, but thought it was still something that could add context/ideas.
Feel like her curse is connected to emotions somehow. When she was burying her spider the black parts showed up but when she was with the kid during the montage her hands were normal.
And when she got knocked back by Crucabena, her curse spread farther up her arms before she then beats Crucabena up and then kills her.

i guess, the flower represents the children. mother saw it as pruning them, but Arlecchino saw that she can protect those flowers instead. hence the little smirk. that's also when she accepts being the new king kinda
It's interesting how Clervie (Arlecchino's close friend/'roommate' 😊) does have peach/pink coloured hair similar to fhe child seen with Lyney, Lynette and Freminet in the art we've seen recently. I wonder if Arlecchino's feelings for Clervine will impact how she views that new character (whoever she is).

Oh my god, I feel like the music in some parts are so so similar to Rubia (Fu Hua theme). After listening to it, I noticed the lyrics: "Life blooms like a flower". How absolutely IRONIC, considering this whole animated short is about death.. and flowers.. 🥲
Oh my god, and listening further. The parts that sound like Rubia are 1: when Clervie shares happy moments as kids with Arle, after the part where her spider was buried. The next... is when Arle is fighting "Mother", and she sees the flower in the grass. So god damn beautiful!
Also... Arle fight with her "Mother" at the end, I couldn't help but be reminded of HI3 Previous Era Himeko, Herrscher of Fire. Her mentor who she lost when she was killed.
So different from Fu Hua, yet the resemblance is still there. I love it!
what makes this even sadder is that after Clervie dies, you can see Arlecchino still holding her sword in the reflection of the glass, implying that Clervie killed herself.
0:17 holy shit, I didn't notice it on my multiple viewings, but I finally paid enough attention to it. THAT BAT IS FUCKING DOTTORE ISN'T IT. He has the statoscope and the coat, so literally a doctor. And his plushie is a bat. And Arle's plushie is a bat. So could this mean that Dottore is the one who manipulated Arle's curse from childhood, same as he did to Collei!?!? I CANNOT FUCKING WAIT FOR THE STORY QUEST.
Also, her plushie is a vampire bat, so it fits with the blood abilities she has.

She was too naive in her eyes unlike Arlecchino. Like she said to become a king to need to rise above all other children. Arlecchino couldn't bear this and got the curse. It also seems she didn't know Arlec was cursed. Only then she realized she's dead for good.

and the in-game book "Tales of a Snow-Winged Goose", tells a story about a princess with long pink hair named Marcotte (in game description of the flower by the same name: "Marcotte is said to represent purity and sincere care."), but Clervie is represented in the trailer by a Lumidouce Bell
I'm assuming that Marcotte and Clervie are the same person, with Arlecchino telling Freminet this story in a slightly altered way, projecting Clervie's story onto it

The lumidouce bell represents Clervie which is also "Mother's" biological daughter 1:36 . The way Mother spoke about the wilted Lumidouce bell flower at 3:10 she was mocking her own daughter's death including the rest of the children. "A bird tied down will never fly the nest" 4:10 was a taunt to get Peruer(Arle) to use her full potential i.e the curse. Mother wanted this.... sick twisted fuck... Also the blondie 0:31 her symbolism is the Bulle fruit (basically an orange), check out her hair ornament and here too 1:15 you can find blondie dead here 2:50. Oof.. the orphanage was dogshit no cap...😭😭
Who was "mother" answering to? Tsaritsa, she wanted this, she tricked Arlecchino to unleash her full power and also to owe her her life. It's how the Fatui views the price to fate Celestia. It better be worth it in the end.

I believe that clervie is not dead because of that bandages scene after, and also is was raining that day but the fighting scene wasn't in a rainy day so it's another day, maybe she died after ( and the knave couldn't rescue her) or she did disappear or something 🤔
I noticed that the old knave ("Mother") has black hands & arms too! So did she have the same curse as Arle does?!

on a different note, this a wild...obeservation....I observed that evey vision has a common "personality" type with the different type ones being related to snezhnaya/fatui/delusions/tsaritsa, eg: diluc and the rest of the pyros or zhongli and the rest of the geos.
I'm the only one who gets hurt by the fact that Arlecchino fights with his Mother with a slight lag, but after looking at the flower and receives power of motivation, she goes into the mode of a cool protagonist - dodges blades only by rotating her head and catches swords with her bare hands?
Of course, I understand that Genshin is an Anime. But was it possible without such stereotypes?
