You entered Fayetteville via the business route which is never the heart of any city. Then stumbled into collegic cheap student housing. You sought out the trashiest area to make fun of but didn't look for the high end area. Your limited tour failed to showcase the city, but was rather a platform for your sparky attempts to be funny. And vending machines in Apts is brilliant and convinient... and was in place way before Uber type delivery apps. You're cramming for an exam and need a snack... Or an ice storm hits and you can't get out... Bentonville tour was good. You dropped the ball major on Fayetteville.

It seems they were in Fayetteville in the summer, when far fewer students are around. Also they rarely get out of their car and speak to locals. Their worldview is almost exclusively car-centric, which makes sense with their being from Florida, where nobody walks.

Tbh as an NWA native Fayetteville gets its Fame from The University football and it’s Bar strip Aka Dickson Street. At nighttime you definitely see more of a crowd. And The reason behind it being so dead is just due to the fact that it’s summer break. It’s is a college town after all so it’s just quieter around this time of year. Definitely picks up after school restarts and around Christmas time when the whole downtown square is decorated in Christmas lights.

I live there, and i love it. Born in So Calif and moved to Arkansas in 80s, was a great decision. One of the slogans around here is "Keep Fayetteville Funky" because its diverse, a lot to do, and yet you can leave the city and get out to the lakes, trails, hills and state parks in nothing flat.

There is a big, wide road from I-40 through the mountains to Fayetteville. Way back in my day as a new driver, there was only a narrow two lane state road twisting around the edges of the mountains. And the fog would roll in. Beautiful drive on a sunny day. Scary AF in any other condition.

Interesting to see my hometown from an outsider perspective. The reason it's "so laid back" in your video is because this was taken right before all the college kids came back into town. The U of A has a huge out of state student population and most of the year it's crowded and crawling with rich kids from Dallas. Lots of gentrification and luxury student housing going up here, as well as influence from Walmart.

You literally drove through the worst part of Fayettville, just like Springdale. There are some beautiful historical homes. Also some million dollar homes. Fayettville is compared to Asheville NC. You missed the whole west part of Springdale where the nicer area is.

I first came here to live in 1976. My family is from Arkansas and some of the first pioneers. And I have lived and traveled in other areas so not just here my whole life. Huntsville and Fayetteville are nothing alike. Huntsville is a very rural little place in Madison County. People are moving to Fayetteville because it is a great place to live. It is sophisticated, beautiful, with a University, award winning library and Farmer's Market, entertainment and shopping, and many other attributes. Housing is high here now but it is in most cities now. Yes, developers are doing a lot here because people want to come here and they can make a profit. But Fayetteville is a great place, my home and I love it and I am not the only one. You are not even in the main part of town. You are just driving through on 71. You need to go to th town Square. And Dickson Street. You are in the southeast part of town which is the low end area just beginning to be improved.
You should have turned right long ago. You have a totally wrong impression of Fayetteville!!

I've grown up in Fayetteville since 1982. It's a college town, located near Walmart Corporate Headquarters. Also Tyson, JB Hunt, and several big money people.
The property is overpriced in, and to the west, of NW Arkansas.
Highway 412 E leads to the Ozarks. Mostly a four lane highway gets you cheaper property in about 35-45 minute commute in mostly unpopulated area.
I live in Huntsville Arkansas. They just put in a Southerlands.
Most areas east of NW Arkansas are unincorporated. Meaning, no restrictions and no permits. The downfall of that is, it can't be properly valued if it doesn't have inspections and permits.
    👍

Doing a tiny bit of research before you tour would be helpful, if you want the tour to be at least nominally representative. You drove around randomly, which is fine but hardly representative. You missed most of the historic neighborhoods, the theatre district, most of the main shopping districts, the state of the art library, the medical complex, etc. You managed to highlight random ancient apartment complexes. And you did your tour when the campus was dead. All in all, you managed to miss most everything that makes the town worth living in other than the mountains. So....when you ask if there is something you're missing? Yes, most everything. And looking for "the hood" everywhere? Tacky, and disrespectful of the residents who live in the so-designated (by you) areas. Fayetteville has plenty of shortcomings, but you didn't really find any of them. And, yes, there are plenty of jobs other than Wal-Mart...

25:02 Southern accent on point for a Moreno. Fayetteville Arkansas' 7 Hills is not mentioned enough. I think it's what give this town its appeal. The South and East side of the town smells like Japanese Honeysuckle in the Summers & Falls. The public library is top notch. Our collegiate football program is nothing to write home about. There is water everywhere even in the driest months. Water seeping out of an asphalt parking lot is not unusual around here. Construction is booming.

Your first hint of it growing is the population sign says 73k, but the actual current population is around 95k per 2021 census estimates. It's still a University town, with 30,000 students. Literally 25% of the population of the city isn't present in June and July. But Fayetteville can completely stop growing as far as I care. It's grown too fast and too much.
