November 1918. In western Europe, the four-year slaughter of World War One was drawing to an end.But across the former Russian Empire, a new conflict had broken out… a civil war that raged from central Europe to the Pacific, claiming an estimated nine million lives. Lenin, the Bolsheviks and their new Soviet Republic battled for survival against their many enemies - collectively known as the ‘Whites’.
The Whites’ great hope: their newly-appointed ‘Supreme Ruler of Russia’, Admiral Alexander Kolchak. Kolchak was a war hero, a man of duty and discipline, who believed above all in service to ‘the motherland’. Millions looked to him to crush the Bolsheviks, avenge the murdered Tsar, and save Russia from chaos and collapse.
This is the extraordinary tale of the life and death of Admiral Kolchak - Russia’s only ‘Supreme Ruler’.

What did you learn about Kolchak? And what are you looking forward to in part two? Let us know in the comments!
One small correction - in June 1916, Kolchak was promoted to Vice-Admiral, not full Admiral, as implied in the video. He was only promoted to full Admiral in November 1918, after he became Supreme Ruler of Russia.

Trans-Siberian railway on the Baikal-Chita section and before crossing the Chinese Eastern railway (КВЖД), connecting woth Port-Arthur, were built before 1904. Only one famous diffucult section of Circum-Baikal railway was unfinished, which is why cargo & people had to be melted on ferries across Lake Baikal.

Kolchak and Czech legion are still famous in Russia’s folk songs due to their terror and brutality to local population.
Song of the Altai partisans (1919).
"My father was a natural plowman,
    And I worked with him.
We were attacked by evil Czechs,
My native village was set on fire.
My father was killed in the first battle,
And the mother was burned alive in a fire.
My own sister was taken prisoner,
And I was left an orphan.
I tried for three days and three nights,
    Rescued his sister from captivity.
And on the fourth I tried,
I stole my sister from captivity.
My sister and I got into the boat,
And they floated quietly along the river.
But suddenly the bushes began to move,
    The fatal shot rang out.
The villain fired a villainous bullet,
    He killed my beautiful sister.
The sister fell from the boat,
    I was left completely alone.
    I'll climb a steep mountain,
And I’ll look at my native land -
The village is burning, the native is burning,
    My whole homeland is burning!"

@@jangrosek4334 Alexander Kolchak ancestor was a Moldavian mercenary by the name of Ilias Colceag, born in modern day Besserabia in the late 17th century. He employed himself in the service of the Ottomans and recieved a post in Bosnia, where he converted to Islam and gradually ascended the ranks to be appointed as pasha by Sultan Ahmed III himself. Afterwards he was stationed as governor of Chotyn fortress in Moldavia as was a native and could speak the local language, sometime in the 1730s.
After the Battle of Stavuchany in 1739 during the Russo-Turkish War of 1735-1739, he surrendered the city to the Russian Army led by Fieldmarshal Burkhard Christoph von Muennich and was taken to St. Petersburg as a prisoner of war, together with his son. He was later released during the reign of Empress Anna and was planning on returning to the Ottoman service when he discovered the Sultan Mahmud I had issued a warrant of execution for him on charges of treason for surrndering Chotyn fortress.
This led to him remain in Russia, opting to settle in Zytomir, Ukraine , and his son would revert to Orthodox Christianity and enter service in the Russian Army and was later raised to status of landowner and aristocrat during the reign of Empress Elisabeth.
I hope this clarified things for you.

In September 2001, the Military Collegium of the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation left the ruling of the military court of the Trans-Baikal Military District of January 26, 1999 unchanged, fully agreeing with the conclusions of the district court. The Supreme Court of Russia recognized that Kolchak was a war criminal, and therefore not subject to rehabilitation, and the essence of his crime was that he, having significant powers of power, did not stop the terror of the civilian population in the eastern part of Russia, which was under the regime of the White movement.

Czechoslovak legion and its leader Syrovoy were in fact the traitors. They hung between Bolsheviks and Whites and ran over from one side to another. The biggest crime of the Czechoslovaks was criminal seizure of Kolchak and his extradition to the Bolshevik terrorists. They also gradually stole gold from the Russian imperial Gold reserve and tried to take it out.
