  • This week, we put the finishing touches on our London flat to make this space truly feel like home. We are running out of time to get it all done before we head back to the US so forgive the delirious late night filming!! We also picked up some pieces from local artists to finish the space so we took you on a little tour of our new neighborhood in Greenwich while we were at it! Hope you enjoy seeing this space come together!!! Make sure to tune in next week for our and full apartment tour of the finished space!!

Even stranger than no dryer is why the washer &/or dryer are in the kitchen! I was aware of this but I’ve never seen that here in 🇨🇦 We have laundry Rooms, thank goodness lol

A shelf with some minimal decorative objects on it and a trailing plant would add dimension to the decor and feel more homely. It could also function to store useful items, you could put a nice storage box up there for tv remotes or anything you want to hide!
It's looking great, fair play to you guys!

This is so true with the washing on the radiators. I’d be lost without my tumble dryer. But the average kitchen in the UK is quite small. I keep mine in the shed 😂 it’s all good as long as it’s not minus degree weather as the drawer that collects the water freezes up 🥶

Looks amazing! O I know if you want something different, there's this creative called Blacklist Studio who creates all kinds of prints and old skateboard decks that have been painted with really neat handwriting on it. He also has cool wall flags, my fav is the black flag with the word love in white. Also there's this cute throw with the words "this love is forever" on it. I think you guys would love his style.

I have dryer but I don't use it to dry my clothes straight out of the washer. I usually dry them outside of by a radiator first. Then pop them in the dryer to soften up .......very cost effective.
    The flat looks beautiful :-)

You can have the kids make some textured canvases (spackle in whatever pattern the kids want use the spatula that comes with it let it try totally and then you can paint it if you want it a certain color) it’s something the kids will love seeing hanging on the wall and it’s still somewhat modern.

I’m in the uk and do have a dryer but don’t use it much - a lot of our clothes are not meant to be put in the dryer. I use radiators but like to hang out in the garden when it’s dry and warmer. Also using a tumble dryer is expensive on the electricity.

As someone who is British, I have always had a tumble drier in my house since I was a kid and so have like, family and friends, I didn't know it was a thing people didn't do? We always have clothes drying all over our house cause not everything can be dried that way, and we hang our clothes outside in the summer but I was completely baffled when you said that xD

This might not be what you need but Amazon has this product called gorilla line which is a tiny box that has a clothes line built into it. It is retractable and great for energy savers. We use it to hang up delicates, and the line can run across the room when you need it and go back to the box when your done. It might help dry things quicker or overnight.

I’m from England and we have a drier as do some of my family members, but it’s definitely not commonplace. We got one a few years ago just before my eldest was born because we knew we’d be doing way more laundry. I don’t think I could be without one now.

I don't think there's a big dryer culture here, as you said they take some place and they also use a lot of energy. + I think the UK like most European-ish countries have a big line drying culture (when it does not rain haha) The place is coming out nice and lovely :)

We've got a tumble dryer for the first time recently but only use it for certain things, mainly due to cost!! It's expensive to run 😭 also it shrinks some things so we only use it for larger items that don't dry as quickly on clothes horses/airers/radiators/banisters 🤣🙈

I currently have an integrated version washer/dryer combo which is a great option and would have worked well with your space. I am British. And I never put batteries in wall clocks so I can also set them to 11.11 to.

This is so funny! We definitely do have dryers in the UK and most use them, but in London flats are small and don't have the space so a lot of people just don't put them in.. it makes doing laundry 1000% slower! 😅🤣

  • @KarlaJeannieDoddy
    @KarlaJeannieDoddy ปีที่แล้ว +1

you can buy a washing machine that has a dryer option too, in my old house we rented it was that type of washing machine, and in my old share house i lived in we had a dryer but that was purely because in a share house you dont want to just be leaving your stuff lying about and have your clothes on display to the other residence of the house, but where i live now in my flat i dont have one because there was no space for it and it was a choice between a dryer and a dishwasher and we went for a dishwasher instead as we hate handwashing dishes - i live in london too

I live in the North West of England, and we own and use a dryer, but mainly for towels and bedding. Other than that, it always seems a waste of power to use a dryer to dry EVERYTHING! Most of the people I know have the same approach, and it's actually abnormal to most to dry clothes with a dryer. Some even store their dryer in at external building/garage for space saving. xxx

I'm English and I would say that a tumble dryer is considered a little more of a luxury here. A dryer is often (but not exclusively) owned by someone who has a garage or a utility room (to store/use it). A LOT of UK homes don't have a utility and, as you know, the washing machine lives in the kitchen. They're not cheap to buy and an additional cosy to run 🤷🏼‍♀️

Another trick is to fold small pieces of that tape inside out and stick to corners on the back of your artwork so it doesn't shift on the wall. Maybe OCD on my part but I grew up with an artistic father who painted and he always did that. My only critique - sorry guys - is that it looks like you're hanging stuff high on the wall and in my opinion (for what it's worth) some of them need to be hung lower. Rule of thumb is the artwork's centre should be hung 57" from the floor to match average eye level

I think having a dryer is seen as something that posh people have. Most of the UK have small kitchens that barely have room for a sink, fridge, cooker and obvs we need room for the kettle (utility room - what is that). Hanging the washing is in our DNA and culture. At the moment, could not afford a dryer!
