    If you really want an experience just listen to Cruelty and The Beast - Re-Mistressed edition in it's entirety.

    Oh man, I haven't listened to CoF in ages. Not that I can call myself a fan, but I was obsessed with "Nymphetamine" for a couple of weeks back in 9th grade :D do check it out, as suggested by others. They also have an album based on the life of Gilles de Rais (a companion to Jeanne d'Arc and later alleged serial killer) and someone had gifted me the album for my birthday, so I also listened to that, but I was unimpressed. People have recommended to me their early album "Midian", which is apparently their best? I haven't listened to it, but I wanted to check it out soon. One thing though, most of this song sounds like symphonic-power metal, except for the vocals. I remember them being way heavier.
    As for black metal... Well I did succumb to peer pressure back when I was around 17-18 and gave a chance to those 2nd wave Norwegian bands. I really tried. Tremolo picking, poor production and those weird screamy vocals are not for me, and when I found out about the racism and all the crap that went on, I noped out. I have recently given a chance to other bands, still not for me. In all fairness, not all bands sound like that and not all have that kind of ideology, so I am really speaking about the musical elements. It's a bit like salt, a sprinkle of it on top of something else is delicious (like what Insomnium and Swallow the Sun are doing), when I try to eat it on its own I just can't :D
    My recommendation for this week is probably a repetition, but it's awesome: Nu Delhi, the new song from Bloodywood.

      I will definitely check out your Cradle of Filth and Bloodywood recommendations. A few people have mentioned Bloodywood to me. So I need to check them out. As far as black metal goes, I definitely don’t want to like the sound of a band and then find out they are racist. As of late I have been crushed by As I Lay Dying. I had just found them and loved what I had heard, then found out about the lead singer. I assumed he did his time and I got past his past. They were one of the best shows that I went to this year. I have been really excited for their new album in Nov. then last week all of the band members pretty much quit. It seems like the lead singer still has issues. I don’t want to love a black metal band and find out they are racist. Hopefully people can suggest some non racist black metal, to see what it’s all about.

      @@MattsMoshPit1 Rotting Christ started out as black metal but as far as I know they've never expressed that kind of thought. So maybe early RC albums? I think there are good US bands, too, I can think of Blackbraid and Wolves in the throne room.
      As I Lay Dying I disliked even before Tim did what he did, but my husband, who was big on 2000s metalcore, was so disappointed to learn the whole story literally last week. I sent him Tank's video. Maybe I should get him into Bloodywood to fill the void, they're great dudes

      I do love what I have heard from Rotting Christ ( the last 3 albums). I might need to do a deeper dive. I will look into Blackbraid and Wolves in the thrown room. I have heard their names, but never listened. Be sure to tell your husband he is not alone. I still plan on getting the new album when it comes out, assuming we don’t find out something beyond crazy. It’s just sad Tim appears to be quite destructive. I was really rooting for him to be a changed person.

      @nuclear.musicaddict 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I don't know if he's destructive, so far we don't know a lot about why the others quit. Maybe he's difficult to work with, and he'll be far from the only one in the music industry if this is the case. But my husband didn't know about the "tried to hire someone to kill the ex wife" thing. I'm still waiting to see if the remaining guitarist will quit, too. This is almost as fascinating as Stratovarius in the mid-00s. You know I love them, but they almost fell apart back in 2008.

      That’s wild, as long as you husband didn’t say “ oh, that’s all he did, what’s wrong with that” 🤣. I am still hopeful they can get things back on track but it’s not looking good.

    Calling Cradle of Filth black metal is an effective way to piss off black metal elitist. Don’t try it on Reddit 🤣. Their sound has changed a bit over the years and you won’t necessarily like the early albums just because you like this song. Don’t pay to much attention to the lyrics.
    Found this fun quote on Wikipedia when I was looking for information about Nifelheim 😆: “While Adrian was in Cradle of Filth, due to band's poor reputation in the black metal scene, he was fired from Nifelheim, who said it was "like a very bad, bad dream" to have had "a drummer who plays in CRADLE OF WIMPS now", and that he was "a schooled drummer" but "had problems to understand the most twisted and sickest riffs".”
    Adrian refers to At the Gates/The Haunted drummer Adrian Erlandsson who was the drummer for Cradle of Filth between 1999 and 2006 (Daniel Erlandsson from Arch Enemy is Adrians younger brother).

      Yeah, I might have to stay away from black metal. It sounds like it maybe too judgmental for me. I also just found out that there is a bunch of racism. I don’t want to find band and love their sound and then find out they are racists. How do I find and authentic black metal band that isn’t racist?

    • @sadgoldfish
      @sadgoldfish 2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@MattsMoshPit1 You just found out about racism in black metal now? You have at least heard about the church burnings and the murders, right?
      Black metal have a problematic history but it’s mostly about things that happened in the 80's and 90's and the people involved where very young at the time. I don’t think there is a bigger problem with racism in black metal than in most other sub genres today as long as you stick to bands that play at mainstream festivals and stay very far away from NSBM.
      People that you don’t agree with politically can popup anywhere. Don’t know if you are familiar with power metal band Demons & Wizards? That band had two members Hansi Kürsch from Blind Guardian and Jon Schaffer (google if the name doesn’t sound familiar).

    • @MattsMoshPit1
      @MattsMoshPit1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I have heard about Mayhem and thought that also contributed to church burnings, way back in the day. I don’t really know much about anything outside of that. Even with Mayhem, I am definitely not an expert on the subject. I didn’t know there was a whole racist aspect. To your point it’s probably best to stick to festival bands. Assuming they weed out the bad apples.

    • @MattsMoshPit1
      @MattsMoshPit1  2 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I should also mention, I have no problem at all with bands I don’t agree with politically as long as the music is good. I just don’t want to support anyone that is trying to harm anyone. As far as demons and wizards go, I have not heard of them, but if Hanzi is in it. I need to. Thank you for the suggestion 🤘

      @@MattsMoshPit1 That wasn’t really a suggestion. Just an example of a band that had members with questionable political views 🤷‍♂

    Been a fan of CoF for a good 25 years or so. I do like this new stuff as well as the old. Similar style to this, both musically and visually would be the newer tracks She Is a Fire and How Many Tears To Nurture a Rose. I'd personally steer clear of Nymphetamine Fix. Probably the worst thing the band could ever offer.

    I keep losing track of who's their current keyboardist/backing vocalist. They change them way too quickly. I wouldn't call myself a fan but I know some tracks. The absolute classic for me is a Grammy nominated Nymphetamine feat. Liv Kristine. Anyway, this band is a joke to so many people. I don't even know why. If a band isn't my cup of tea, I just move on and don't shit on them all over the Internet.
