How nice to know that a high level company finally takes into account that not everybody has Jeff Bezos or Bill Gates' fortune to buy a turntable. You are giving us the best of the best in design and, as seen, also in quality for a reasonable sum, even in my country, Colombia. I will buy one as soon as I can. Please keep up the good work delivering high quality audio products with Joe Average prices.

I don't think you realize that PBS is one of the least biased most unbiased Networks. I'll challenge you to turn off Fox News for 6 weeks and watch the PBS NewsHour to get your news. Turn off Rush Limbaugh and Sean Hannity and listen to NPR in your car for simple unbiased news presentation. Do that for 6 weeks. You'll get the news without weird, partisan comments and insults. 6 weeks, be a man and do it. Unbiased non-partisan news.

@@columf08 Copied from the FAQ section of the product on schiit.com:
Why isn't there an option for 230V countries?
Sol uses an AC motor, so it's designed for 60Hz AC, like we use in the USA. Unfortunately, nearly every country with 220-240VAC runs 50Hz AC, so the motor would run too slow. We'll be looking into adding a speed controller in the future as an option if Sol does well.

I own, an operate a vintage Mayware Formula 4 Uni-Pivot Tonearm on a Transcryptor Skeleton Turntable. The Mayware Tonearm Uni-Pivot implements a Viscous Gel that surrounds the contact of the arm to the vertical pivot cone point, and serves to add damping to this interface to reduce/eliminate the "swinging" of the stylus in the groove, as I can see from the video here. So from this video, the arm is clearly in 'oscillation' and 'dancing' in the groove from left to right. Can anyone comment on this, and how it affects the sound? Has anyone at Schiit looked at some damping solution of the Arm to Pin Uni-Pivot interface? I like this turntable, but as the video states, it is claimed that this is a hobbyist product so likely still under development.

i watched this carefully as i am seriously considering buying one when they get to the UK.
Now this t/t comes with a Grado cartridge , i will be using my Grado Platinum 1 should i get the Sol.
No oil is used in the bearing , so it is a dry bearing is this correct?
When fitting the bearing how do you ensure that it is accurately fitted . I see from the video that the platter moves up and down as it rotates suggesting that it is not accurately fitted into the platter.
I also observe that the belt moves up and down on the platter as the platter rotates , this could lead to a WOW as the rotational speed varies slightly as the belt moves up and down.
I also observe that the arm waggles , ie rotation slightly leading to the stylus not being correctly aligned with the groove. I presume that adjusting the adjustable Azimuth weight will counteract this.
So is this Sol in the video the latest generation which will have the Audio Technica cartridge fitted . I do not want or need a cartridge should i buy a Sol.
Also will you be selling the tone arm separately as i would be interested in a 2nd arm for my Decca London Super Gold cartridge.
So much about the Sol appeals to me , but the platter bearing relationship and the belt moving up and down the platter rim concerns me still.
I also have the Mani phono stage to go with the Sol.
I also think it looks great.

@@Destroythenavel it pivots freely in every direction. That's what the weight on the side is for, to balance it horizontally. Pretty terrible and pointless design to me because if the record isn't perfectly flat or a slight force will get that cartridge wobbling. @@jdavis234 actually, the conveniences you want create sound distortion. That is why people love their Thorens and Linns; they arent cluttered by a bunch of stuff affecting sound. This turntable basically mirrors Clear Audio and other high, high end turntables for the price of a Rega Planar 3. To be clear, most high end turntables are all manual and mirror this setup. With an 11 inch arm, the motor separate, and that low mass arm, the sound will be killer, assuming sound is what you seek.

The wire plugs into the plinth, and then connects to the RCA sockets on the back.
I thought it would make sense if Schiit added the same five pin connector on the Mani phono preamp, so you could bypass those additional connections and cable. The could even come up with a little bracket on the plinth to hold the Mani vertically next to the arm base.

  • @RasheedKhan-he6xx
    @RasheedKhan-he6xx 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

That just doesn't look very user friendly. Plonking in the bearing by hand - how do you know if its level? Hanging the skate weight it tangles with the pickup wire. Then adjusting it by eye to be level with the pivot point. Meanwhile everything wobbling around everywhere. And the motor placement? Belt tension is not an issue? Maybe I'm just not getting it. Hopefully someone here can set me right.
