You made it look easy peasy. It took me more than an hour to solder a XT60 connector 😅

I think best method I've seen so far.

I normally leave more metal wire exposed so i can push it deeper inside the xt60

Why not make the bare copper on the wire longer and solder it even deeper inside the connector? Im genuinely asking your opinion. Because after having mostly Deans connectors which are pretty straightforward to solder and easy to make a strong connection small and neat even with thicker wires. The first XT60 i did before i realized or looked at any DIYs, that no one else was putting the wire anywhere near the inside like i did lol. Just on the area like the video with not too much wire needed inside.
I had made the stripped wires the perfect length to just reach just near the end and i filled the whole thing in with solder afterwards after tinning both. I mean the connection was fine & was solid, it was for an ESC so i figured it couldn't hurt, and i wanted to see how it would come out like that and maybe be able to get alittle more power thru the connector idk..
I do it like this now too but sometimes I wonder why the made the holes so deep if theyre not meant to be soldered into idk..

They are meant to be soldered that way only where some it is pushed inside but lack of knowledge among the masses cause them to solder that way but as long as you don't face problem with your setup anyway is good

Is there a straight wire connecter that can handle the watts/amps of a xt60? Sort of, if you could cut a xt60 in half, allowing each wire to move independently. Backstory: I bought a board, has to be assembled. Can't connect the battery to the Controller Box as the xt60 is too large to make it through the cable hole connector. They told me that I need to clip off the xt60, run it through, then somehow reattach. Thanks.

You won't find them in normal XT60 you will need to buy XT60-H the ones we use for drone

Can you push the wire all the way in?

Yes it's recommended if you can

I would add a chisel tip and some flux. Take the contact time in half. Less heat is better. Nice tho! This was my biggest struggle. With 6s being so popular now I kno there are people out there who struggle soldering thicker wires to a ESC. I see it almost every day online. Lol Always someone asking why it wont work and it looks like the ESC got forge welded! LOL

Tbh I use this tip on ESC as well I'm too lazy to switch tips also this is Hakko tip and it's expensive and doesn't justify it's price so I stick with it for flux I would say the finish seems matte because of strong white light I also didn't like how my solder was shown under the light but I'll have to stick with it until I get Macro camera

would a male xt60-h connector like the one here work with a female normal xt-60 and vice versa?

Yes H here denotes plastic quality rest dimensions are same

I can't seem to find a video where you solder the other end onto a board like maybe a ebike controller board
