I always found it difficult to hear randy well in the album mix. This sounds awesome and it's very clear. Watching your videos kind of gives me a better appreciation for those riffs. They are very creative.
@matthew7511 I use a Line 6 Tone Port UX1 for all of the guitar tones. It's connected to my computer via usb. The music is all recorded in Garage Band, and I often film the recording process with my computer and then sync it up.
Thank you! It's courtesy of my Line 6 TonePort UX1. I blended Soldanos and Marshalls on this one, I believe. To me, the trick to getting it to sound good is layering; there's three or four rhythm tracks and the leads are tripled.
@NoobletXiii It was part of a 10 piece custom shop order. Some of the specs had to be changed from the original so that Charvel would make it. They won't do "artist similar" guitars that aren't already a signature series.I made the pickguard. :)
@guithero11 The mint green strat with the white guard is a Warmoth body with an old Chandler strathead neck on it. The white/black strat is a Charvel, as is the blue pointy strat.
@kakan147 I don't know (see what I did there?) that I'd say that the guitar tone itself is Randyesque, as it's a Combination of Marshall and Soldano models. The recording style is what probably gives it the similarity; There are multiple rhythm tracks, and the solo is triple tracked. The triple tracking is, to me, what makes the difference.
One of the best covers on youtube..Fun to add some humor with the acoustic guitar. It was prerecorded but I still know that you actually played it so it's the same.
It absolutely should remind you of it! It was modeled after Jake's guitar. It was part of a custom shop limited run (but came with a standard h/s/s pickguard - I made the one on the guitar now). I got it from matts music in massachusetts 2 years ago.
His name is Aslan, and he's a 9 year old retired racing Greyhound. He's a huge spaz. The slanted singles are a nod to Jake E. Lee; I always thought they looked cool as hell. Apparently, there's some sound benefit, but really, though a high gain amp, etc, there's not really a noticeable difference.
@adidas331 Oh! That's my strat that I had built for me as a 16th bday present to myself. It's in the GBTR video. I've changed it over the years, but it's back to its original s/s/s configuration.
Kinda! It's a custom shop Charvel that was built to look as much like Jake's whitey as they'd allow. I made the pickguard, but other than that, it's stock and pretty awesome. :)
@SkillerGuyVids Thanks! I always expect negative comments on the covers, so it's nice to get something nice from someone who gets it. What most don't understand is that I've recorded these covers without necessarily intending to have them become videos. That said, I've been recording the recording process on most of them.
@andyrock75 thanks! I try to make them sort of entertaining; I mean, when you think about it, who really wants to watch some dork (me) playing covers in his living room? The least I can do is to try to make it mildly enjoyable! :)
Me and my buddies have started a drinking game where we watch all the videos on your channel and drink every time you say "good times". It should make for some good times...
@idolkritiq Nice! I don't have the blue one any longer, but it was a neat little guitar, for sure. Mahogany body with a trans blue finish on the back. Good times.
@jzolamine There are two Charvels in the video; the white one and the blue one. I assume you're referring to the blue one when you mention pickups. The blue one was used to record the rhythm tracks, and there are in fact, old Dimarzio PAF pros in the bridge and neck position. Sorry you didn't enjoy it.
ah, thanks man, I appreciate it!. The audio was done with the blue flamed top Charvel, and the mint green strat style (with the Jake E Lee styled pickup slants)
Haha, really gave me a smile seeing this video, it's so much passion and happiness in it, sticks out alot and makes it really entertaining to watch. You're a fenomenal guitar player and I really look forward to see your upcoming videos! Would Mr.Crowley be one of them if so? Anyways, great work!
something about the main opening guitar riff makes me smile. just a happy care free sound. and still gnarly. good job man. and did you make that backing track? Id love to have it!
@jsullysix Oh it's enjoyable for sure ! when you were switching from one electric guitar to another one I thought it was simply to show how many nice guitars you have...when you switched to the acoustic guitar, "strange" was my thought...but when you were on your phone while the solo was still going on, then "hahaha...oh my god, this guy is really cool !". Thanks for giving us some big laugh !
@jsullysix oh yea sully i was thinking of getting a randy rhoads jackson and i was wondering if their uncomfortable to play sitting down cause they look like they are
Love your dog :) saw him on your instagram too haha I follow you.. im @_KevinKhorrami_lfc Love the Sully's Guitar Garage vids... Id to hear some more Randy covers!!! Yours are amaizing. The editing, your guitars, the playing, showmanship, all of it
@minpinful very nice of you to say, thanks. I also think that multi tracking stuff with different settings and different guitars helps as well.

@TheBGrogan ah, that's super nice of you, thanks so much! I think I have Bark at the Moon halfway recorded, but I'll have to look.

My favourite part of your covers is that they're are funny and you use different guitars, it's just enjoyable to watch :)
@paigeguitarplayer It was part of a limited run through Matt's Music in Massachusetts. Any Charvel dealer can do limited edition runs.
Thanks Doc! Mr Crowley is partially recorded, I Don't Know is recorded, SATO is recorded, and I recorded Diary a lonnnnnng time ago.
This is just kick A$$! Love this Sully!!!

Acoustic guitar tapping + cat = EPIC
Great vids Sully!!
@idolkritiq Back in 1983 when that was made, they didn't have models, per se. It was just a custom strat.

Man the phrasing on this solo is killer
I covered this one too and you nailed it man! Subscribed
great cover... and an awesome guitar collection!

@adidas331 Oh! That's my strat that I had built for me as a 16th bday present to myself. It's in the GBTR video. I've changed it over the years, but it's back to its original s/s/s configuration.
great video with the dog and cat and the guitar switch, also a great cover, nice playing man! :)
It's a 1983 Charvel with a flame top on it. Thanks for the kind words!
@TheBGrogan thanks man, that's super nice of you!
@101pete101 thanks! I recorded Shock Me forever ago, maybe I'll do a vid for it.
i didn't notice her while it was going on, but we named her Liz Lemon, after Tina Fey's 30 Rock character.
@TheBGrogan nah, I haven't been in a band in years. All of my spare time is building guitars. Thanks so much for the nice words, though!
@midget6mafia Thanks. It's a real deal Charvel from the custom shop.
Kinda! It's a custom shop Charvel that was built to look as much like Jake's whitey as they'd allow. I made the pickguard, but other than that, it's stock and pretty awesome. :)
Dude you have got some serious skills, and your acoustic guitar tapping technique was flawless haha!
@oneshottwodrops thanks! He definitely loves being on camera.

@paigeguitarplayer Yep! That was the plan when the guitar was ordered. :)
I need to do some sort of a "what I'm workin' on" video. I'll try to get one out soon, but it most likely won't be like the LP videos.
@gunsntulips Bridge. 9-46 strings, purple pick. :)
Ah, thanks man! There are a few more Randy covers on my page, but I figured you've watched them by now. Thanks again for the kind words.
@andyrock75 The switching has to do more with having fun editing the stuff together. I throw the acoustic silliness in to be....well, silly. :)
love your vids especialy the goodbye to romance. laughed so hard when the dog came in haha
love the classical at the end.
The blue one? It's a 1983 Charvel with a flame top and a mahogany body.
@idolkritiq Nice! I don't have the blue one any longer, but it was a neat little guitar, for sure. Mahogany body with a trans blue finish on the back. Good times.
WOW!! Awesome acoustic shredding!! :)

Sully you Rock!!!
I saw all your videos and you make some great guitars.
@paigeguitarplayer which one? I sold the blue one a few months back. It's killer, for sure, though.
Sounds AWESOME man! I love the Charvel's! 5 stars!
He really, really was. Thanks man!

i think he loves being on camera, too! :)
what a good beast!!True Randy fan...haha
Dammit Sully, you rock! Love the tone too.
loved it!! awesome cover
@adidas331 I don't own anything Fender; the white strat in the video is a Charvel in a Jake E. Lee HSS configuration.
One of the best video on youtube !

btw let me know if you ever get tired of that blue flamed-top pointy, sweet looking axe, what are specs on that?

@jsullysix "Silly" (positive / funny) was exactly my feeling at that moment. You definitely made it...Cheers!
@minpinful Line 6 tone port. Mix of Soldanos and Marshalls.
Of course you can! Get the tab, break it into segments, and keep at it. That's what I did. :)
Thanks! I know, the playing blew though, right? :)

+Tony Vincenzi Thanks!
awesome sound nice playing keep it up
@1993Revhead Aw, thanks man!
It's just a lot of practice; best I can recommend is to practice it slower, and on a clean amp until you get it.
Love your dog :) saw him on your instagram too haha I follow you.. im @_KevinKhorrami_lfc
Love the Sully's Guitar Garage vids... Id to hear some more Randy covers!!! Yours are amaizing. The editing, your guitars, the playing, showmanship, all of it

Killer video, Sully... Still rescuing the greyhounds? :)
Thanks! I do still help some groups out from time to time.
Excellent. After seeing this video I remembered talking to you about it several years ago.
Nice, this is really off topic but I have to decide between a 1958 epiphone korina flying v or the explorer.... Which do u think is better
