  • Hello Guys !
In this video I attempt to explain about cable tray sizing and its calculation.
They are 4 steps to calculate cable tray size
    1. Determine diameter of cable
    2. Calculate air space between conductor
    3. Determine width and height of cable tray
    4. Consider thermal expansion
I also explain about type of cable tray but not in detail. Looking forward to upload more videos on this topic.
    Thanks for watching

Bro mostly they don’t calculate for cable tray. They just calculate how much loads are going to pass through. No one gives a damm about air space. Anyhow ur video is informative. Thanks for that.

It depends on contracting company. If they follow standards it is good for client as well as for company.
      BTW thanks for appreciation.

Your electrical designing is awsome. Is there seperate course from which we can learn.

Sir i have a question. Why we are not considering the thick ness of arnouring like materials apart from the conductor size to determine cable diameter

Same question , insulation material should also consider 👍👍

From vendor cable catalogue or specification sheet directly we can get dia of the cable. No need to do calculation@@syedmohammadsaif8344

Please also include the thickness of the GI sheet i.e. the cable tray u have shown how to calculate the width, Depth and thermal expansion gaps but how do u select the thickness like the weight bearing capacity of the tray and the supports needed like the tray is supported on c-shaped channels hanging from threaded rods suspended in the ceiling or simply supported by steel channels on ground . As you done the calculation , you should also include the weight of the cable per meter multiply it with the tray length and number of runs which will give you the exact weight of the cable lying on the tray depending on the weight you have to select the thickness of the cable tray(like 1.5mm or 2mm depending on the weight bearing capacity of the GI sheet/ ladder rungs if it is ladder type/ perforated/ solid bottom ) and you also need to provide cable cleats or cable ties in order to protect the cable from shooting out of the tray in case of short circuits. Please feel free to correct me if anything wrong in it at the end no one is perfect ......ohhhh i almost forgot to mention the spare capacity in case you need to lay more cables on the existing tray for future expansion of the facility.😛😛
