Recently I made a jouhikko and I'm having issues with tuning my instrument. I tried horsehair, viola string, fishing line and mandolin string. It sounds good when I play with the bow only, but when I touch the strings it doesn't sound alright to me. this is an very old kalevala song. a melody to which songs from kalevala are usually sung. danheim, like many others, took this melody into processing. although this tune is older than all of us here combined)
