Viikate is an amazing and unique band combining Finnish 60's style iron wire rock with metal. Their every music video is also like this with great deadpan humour. They have made a tribute album to Motörhead with songs translated to Finnish. It's pretty great.
The fence was an electric fence meant for keeping cattle from escaping. Hence when the first guy peed on it he had these weird expressions when the electric current shocked him. The second guy who drank the gasoline ended up blowing himself up for the same reason. Finnish humour at it's best I suppose.

Kouvostoliitto, also known as Kouvola, is a sister Soviet city of a another city known as Chernobyl/Pripyat. Just look at their comparison and you will notice, it is hard to tell each other apart. Also if you know bit of Finnish, you might notice that Kouvostoliitto is combination of Kouvola and Neuvostoliitto (Soviet Union).
Have to add that the transition in video from bikers to "hikers" is because in Kouvostoliitto everything is like anywhere else but a little bit worse. Thats why bikes turn to mopeds and girls turn to men... Band is from Kouvola which came Kouvostoliitto i guess when surrounding "cities" joined to city of Kouvola few years back. I'm not sure about that sistercity theory but they have some similarities. At least they both have areas where normal people wouln't live on...

Think you guys could get a new view on the songs, if you would google up the lyrical translation after watching the video and hearing a song on a foreign language. Could be kinda cool to see you have the first impressions and then see how they differ after seeing whan the song was about.

You mean bikes get better? Because those bikes in last part are legendary Finnish Tunturi "Pappa" bikes. One in minth conditions will cost you several thousand euros. Pappa means old man or granpa in Finnish. I used to have one those when I was teen. And they keep running with almoust anything, like alchohol, oil based paints etc...

Just as in any other place with stories of Death the scythe is his attribute, so the name of the band is ominous - and while the music might sound kind of upbeat the lyrics are often pretty dark if you stop to think about them. Viina, terva ja hauta - that's almost but not quite an old Finnish saying (hauta should be sauna). "Jos ei viina, terva ja sauna auta tauti on kuolemaksi", my translation "if strong alcohol, tar and sauna doesn't help the sickness will result in death". Old folk medicine, that is. Alcohol is pure, tar was thought to have healing properties and the sauna was both a place for cleaning yourself and the place where you'd practice medicine.
There are so many Finnish cultural references in that video and in the lyrics of that song.. It's interesting or impossible to know how that comes across :)

You pronounced Viikate wrong. ;) Note that even if I know how to pronounce them, I usually don't know what they mean. I guess viina comes from the german adaptation of the latin word 'vinum' (wine). As for the rest, Viikate is really an underrated band for me.
I think "viina" probably does comes from the latin word, through german and/or swedish but "viina" doesn't actually mean "wine", it means "booze". Kind of a general term for alcohol stronger than wine.
