  • Good morning, our subscribers and guests of the channel.
At the beginning of September 2024, we had the opportunity, the request and the opportunity to visit one of the oldest Kyiv necropolises - the Zvyrynetsky cemetery. The photo was taken in memory of the Kyivans of past generations, who were a part of the history of our city and received eternal peace on this right-bank hill. Burials differ by time, you can see tombstones from the end of the 19th - beginning of the 20th century and even later. Names, surnames, faces in photographs, the style of crosses and monuments preserve the peculiarities of the history of Kyiv.
The video shows the first part of the shooting. Leave in the comments if you would like a video from the older part of the cemetery, from the alley of white crosses, where monastic burials are located, etc.
Zviryntsky cemetery is a small necropolis in Kyiv, located on Zviryntsy, on the heights between Nevodnytskyi (Navodnytskyi) Ravine and Mykola Mikhnovsky Boulevard. The area of the cemetery is 5.6 hectares (of which 3.3 hectares are free of burials).
History: The Zvirinets cemetery originates from the cemetery of the Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist (founded between 1715 and 1729, existed until the 1930s) - the parish church of Zvirinets. For a long time, only residents of this Kyiv suburb were buried here. The cemetery gained city-wide importance in the 1930s, when some burials from the destroyed "Askoldova Mogila" necropolis were moved here.
