    I miei complimenti a tutte le persone che stanno imparando l'italiano. Nonostante lei sia molto brava a spiegare, mi rendo conto guardando i suoi video di quanto sia complicata questa lingua. Siete fantastici, un applauso a tutti.

    Knowing that the structure of our mother tongue-in my case, English-informs how we understand a foreign tongue, I’ll offer my understanding of the two cases of use for the two verbs:
    SAPERE
    1) to know how to do something, to whatever degree. “I know how to cook (well),” or ”I don’t know how to cook at all.”
    2) to be aware of something (or not) or of the existence of something. “I didn’t know that she could sing,” or “I know that the store sells cheese.”
    CONOSCERE
    1) to know a person
    2) to be *familiar* with something or some concept (or not) through depthy engagement (or lack thereof), be it observation, study, etc., to whatever degree. “I know Puccini’s operas well because I studied music in college,” or “I don’t know the history of Croatia at all.”

    Very helpful. I think a helpful way to work out whether conoscere is the right verb to use rather than sapere is to decide whether you could translate it as "to be familiar with" in English. E.g Conosco bene le opere di Shakespeare = I'm familiar with Shakespeare's work.

    Ho due anni cui studiare la lingua italiana... its still hard, and i blame it on my teacher... i mean i love the language but he makes it seem the hardest! I already am fluent in two languages, and i want to learn italian. Thank you this is soo helpful you have no idea!

    • @lucreziaoddone
      @lucreziaoddone  7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Try to study a bit on your own and follow a different path then the one your teacher follows. I know it can be hard to learn a language when you don't really like your teacher or how they teach, I've been there, at University I was studied Spanish and I didn't have the best time with it because my professors were hideous, not as people, but surely as teachers!!

    • @MI-yr6rz
      @MI-yr6rz 7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      In your first sentence, were you trying to say that you have two years in which to study Italian, or that you've studied/been studying italian for two years? If the first, I think you need to at an 'in' before 'cui'. but if the second, then what you wanted to write was: "Ho studiato la lingua italiana per due anni".

      Ha-ha, man, I studied English at school for like 6 or 7 years, and by the end of the course all I got to remember was the alphabet and that nasty 's' ending in 3d person singular in Simple Present. No vocabulary, no verbal phrases, no tenses. It took me a couple more years with a different teacher to cover everything and beyond all types of conditional clauses.
