    for listening to Laraque for a few of his takes, i have not heard a single one that would make sense in either draft or trade... For me it's in order of who is available Demidov, Lindstrom & Iginla. No need to move up moving down if we know Tij will be available sounds good to my ears . Besides all these guys have years before we can say who was stolen at what rank and who was a bust.

  • @DneilB007
    @DneilB007 24 วันที่ผ่านมา +1

    Columbus would probably do the trade; not so much for Roy (Columbus doesn’t need another middle-6 F), but mostly because they’re 99% likely to take a D at #4 anyway, and if they can add another asset and then draft the player they were going to take anyway, of course you do it.
    Or maybe you take the guy for future considerations, where the future considerations are not taking the guy Montreal wants.
    EDIT: either way, it’s the wrong move to make. You would want to approach either Anaheim or Chicago with an offer for their picks; and I’m pretty sure that Chicago would be open to trading their 2nd overall for a pair of first round picks. They’re not close enough to competing that it wouldn’t make sense to stockpile first rounders whenever possible.

    Laraque is about as reliable as a wet noodle being used as a tow strap. Take anything he says with a big truck sized grain of salt.
    Demidov won't be there at 5. I don't think he will even be there at 4. If Chicago doesn't take him (doubtful), then Anaheim or Columbus would.
    I am not adding Roy to my 5th pick in any trade. It wouldn't take that much. I don't even think it would take the Habs pick and the WPG pick. Could probably do it with the 5th and 2nd. They have two seconds in 2025
    I think you would have to move up to 3 to guarantee either Demidov or Lindstrom.
    If neither is available, even at 4, then you go with Iginla, Catton, or Eiserman. Personally I think you wait it out, and keep your 5th take whomever is available as a forward at 5, then you trade the 2024 WPG pick, the 2025 Calgary pick and a player, to get you back into the top 10 in 2024, and take one of the other forwards.

      Only if you want to guarantee Demidov. Only need to get to 3 to guarantee you will get either Demidov or Lindstrom. Arguments can be made for both, but I will take the 6'4" 216lb power forward center over a 5'11" 168lb winger. We have enough small guys, lets starting bringing in size. Demidov’s game doesn’t look like it suits what MTL is looking for in their forward core. Sure it looks flashy and impressive but Iginla’s game looks more translatable to the NHL and what the Habs are looking for. He plays bigger than he is and really the only downside in his highlights is his skating (Paul Byron can help with that). That’s assuming Lindstom is taken within the top 4 (if not, either of the two are the safer, more full proof pick). Missing on this pick kinda ruins the rebuild and forces MTL to trade futures for an already established NHL’er.

      I look at the Habs after 2+ years of the new management team and I see very little progress. Yes Slav, Roy, and Rienbacker may be good players later on but, this team is way too soft. I am watching the playoffs right now and our team would'nt make it through one round even if they had a lot more talent! Dach, Ghule, Newhook, Caufield, Harris, RHP, Baron, and Hutson are too soft, fragile, and small, to compete in a physical playoff series. We need a GM and VP who have actually played hockey at the NHL level. After 2 1/2 years, I'm not confident with MSL as coach either. People keep saying the habs have a promising defence but, they can't get the puck out of the D zone when under pressure. In the playoffs, if we ever get there, there will be constant pressure on the D zone. We need better defence and coaching just to maybe make it to the playoffs. Right now we have no sand, no drive, no exit strategy, and no coaching. Get an experienced NHL management and coaching team, or, 5 years from now we still will not make the playoffs or get past the 1st round.
