The Forest Stand Improvement Handout that Craig is referencing in the video has been added! The only way we could figure out how to generate a link was placing it in a google drive folder and sharing that link. If anyone has trouble opening the file. The second link we posted is Craigs full and updated version on FSI. The CONTENTS section at the beginning of the publication will help you to correspond what is in the abbreviated handout Craig was using in this video. We also included Craigs new food plot publication!! Hope this helps everyone out!

Thanks! Yes it will be a 3 or 4 part series and we will probably do parts 2 and 3 next week and post the 4th part if necessary the following week! Unless y'all would like them sooner!?

Reached out to Craig to see if he still has the handout available. Hoping to hear back soon. We will post a digital copy in the description of the next video if it is available. We filmed this at QDMA Whitetail Weekend in early March 2020, so hopefully he still has a copy.

I had the pleasure to meet Dr. Craig Harper when I picked him up at the airport to bring him to our QDMA banquet at which he was our guest speaker some years ago.
From the very first moment when we shook hands I knew this man to be outstanding human being first, and VERY KNOWLEDGEABLE about habitat improvement.
He was also a lot of FUN to converse with!
His information is spot on, and he is not out there trying to sell some "product" with a big deer head on it. He is just telling you what it takes to improve your property.
If you ever get the chance to meet him, or attend one of his seminars, do it!
You will not be sorry, and will come away a much better land manager for it!
It has been some years Dr. Harper, but I want to say, "Thank you for sharing your expertise with us!".

Thank you for the kind words! You are spot on! We passed your message onto Craig and I'm sure he will appreciate them, too! Thanks for watching!

Good information but it too bad the camera didn't follow where Dr. Harper would point to for a visual to what he was emphasing

Cant wait to find the time to give this a watch!
I've got 2 stands of timber I'm thinning in NW Arkansas roughly 35 acres (probably 25 and the other patch could be more than 50 years since maintenance)
There's not enough material for my area on TH-cam so I'll probably upload for criticism.
From what I figured it will take about 300 hours running a 18in 42cc saw (and I'm just a 25yo amature habitat hobbyist) to get the dead weight lower canopy of all my cedars cut, other 'wasteful trees'
and get bare forest floor exposed and all the fallen stuff cleared as well.
It might be hard work now but it could last for decades. Without intensive maintenance.

That is awesome! A saw and a squirt bottle and you can change the world! We have more content like this planned and will try to incorporate some southern aspects.

@@Whitetail_Properties it's a pretty decent 120s acre plot. With 4 ponds a few year round springs and well at the highest point on the land that can supply all that and more/water development.
I've got planned scraping 4 spots double the size of a basketball court that feather into the woods.
As a last major feature, there's a spring that's created a marshy area perfect for a modest horshoe or boomerang shaped pond. It would also feather into the woods.
      BRINK OF THE ICEBERG.

After a control burn should I/will it help to fertilizer with a 13-13-13 ?

    • @Whitetail_Properties
      @Whitetail_Properties  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

We have not fertilized after a burn. Typically we see what the natural response is and then decide what actions to take to continue to control invasives with either herbicide or future burns.
