Hi Duca and Roberta. I have experience as a marine engineer working on (very) rusty boats and have an opinion about your diesel tanks that I hope may be helpful. The only rust you have is on the lids and at the very top of the inside of the tanks. The only reason you have rust there is the boat sat on the hard for 22 years, so condensation would have accumulated. Normally this would not happen for two reasons: 1) diesel is an oil, which prevents rust. 2) Normally a boat would be moving on the water, so the diesel will slop around in the tank, making a constant coating of oil on the inside the tanks. To deal with the situation you have, I think all you need to do is remove the rust from the tank lids, and possibly any heavy rust from the top of the inside of the tanks only. The rest of the tanks (sides and bottom) look fine and would be a waste of time, effort and money to strip and repaint them.
Thanks a lot for sharing your experience with us Mick. We actually this week found out the guy that will sandblast the lids have most of the components of a portable wet sand blasting machine. So we are putting his machine back together and will start by sand blasting this top part of the tank. Depending on how easy and how well his machine does the job we will decide if we just treat that part or if we do everything. If it turns out to be a nightmare job we will treat only the really bad spot and that is it. But if is an easy job we will treat the entire tank. At least for now that’s the plan. Thanks so much my friend!
@@OddLifeCrafting It might be worth trying a chemical paint stripper. I would assume the old paint to be some kind epoxy, but maybe try a couple of different brands
@@OddLifeCrafting Those lids look like they are just plain steel plate. It might be cheaper to just buy new steel plates in that size and drill holes in them in the correct pattern and then paint them.
@@OddLifeCrafting Guys, just make sure after all your hard work that you FLUSH the lines very well and add a second fuel filter so you can trap and remove the rust and metal particles that are no doubt left behind. I agree with Mick, remove the bad rust but don't waste more time painting, that tank sat on the hard for 20 years, that's why you have rust, no other reason...
Hi guys, just want to say, ‘Do you even notice how good your English is’? Just sitting here when it suddenly struck me that your making less mistakes and less stopping to think of the right words, much more fluent congratulations 🇦🇺💖💖💖💖
I also noticed the progress !! Good job guys and happy anniversary. Seeing the way you look at each other it's obvious the love is still here and strong. Lucky you!
How rust forms in a diesel tank: a diesel has two fuel lines one goes to the pump on the engine and one returns excess fuel from the pump. The return line returns fuel that is hotter than the fuel in the tank so the fuel eventually heats up in the tank. When you stop running the engine the fuel in the tank cools down and shrinks. Hot fuel takes up more space than cool fuel so as the fuel cools down the vent on the fuel tank lets air into the fuel tank. The air is humid and carries water that condensates as it cools and forms a layer over the parts of the tank that are exposed because the fuel level is lower after running engine. After years of this happening over and over the fuel tank if it is not painted well or galvanized it will start rusting. Sand blasting the tank covers and painting with epoxy paint should make your tank rust proof for many, many years but make sure you vacuum up all the paint dust and get an extra fuel filter to run if the first filter clogs. You mount it right beside the first filter and use valves to shut off the clogged filter and turn on the new filter. I put this on every boat because if you are running the motor you could be docking or near rocks so every minute counts. So if the engine stops because of a clogged filter you can just switch the valves and the motor will restart in seconds to keep you safe.
Roberta and Duca, your enthusiasm and positivity are totally uplifting. For you guys nothing is a problem, just an adventure. (sometimes difficult but rewarding) Good luck with the tanks.
Absolutely as Jerry says. Also it never ceases to amaze me from watching sailing cruising vlogs how many times people have fuel line problems and are not even carrying spare filters, never mind fuel line fittings that they know will fit their fuel lines. Considering you will be often using diesel from unknown sources, are much more than a road vehicle, vulnerable to water in your diesel and also an engine failure from this common cause at a critical moment may have catastrophic consequences . As I say I find it amazing if not downright foolhardy. . . One learns to avoid a lot of difficulties when driving especially diesel vehicles internationaly to have more than one set of diesel filters on board plus fuel line fittings - and that is just for road vehicles where it pretty much never life or death.
No matter what you decide to do with the treatment on the tanks, make sure you invest in a super high quality filtration system for the fuel. This way if there is an issue with things come loose, you won't have an issue with your engine in the middle if the ocean. 😍
You two are putting a tremendous amount of work into your boat. You can see it is a labor of Love for you and your beautiful wife. If you payed to have this done it would never been done this well. Great Job !

I built a steel sail boat 25 years ago and never painted the inside of my steel fuel tanks. Never had any rust problems. Mickwick73 is correct. Keep the boat in use and everything will be ok.
The diesel sloshing around in the tank will protect it. The fuel is also filtered and I imagine the fuel pickup isn't right on the bottom of the tank so it doesn't pick up sediment. Just be sure to carry extra filters and inspect them from periodically. Don't exhaust your energy making it clean enough to perform medical procedures. Congratulations on your anniversary!
I love how you both are always smiling and have a great attitude with everything you do. Keep up the great work, I have no doubt you two will succeed at anything you do.
I think the reason it rusted was that your diesel was not getting sloched around as it was on hard stand for 20 years so the diesel was not coating the surfaces and dryed the tanks areas dried out.
Peter Attfield diesel will condensate rapidly in temp inversion conditions adding water that’s why you use water separator filters, that water will allow an algae to grow and that causes the rust to form.
M Watkins a little research goes a long way. Algae has been an issue in diesel fuel all along. “What is diesel fuel algae ? There are actually different types of diesel algae, aka diesel bacteria. The most common species happily nest right in the space between water and the diesel fuel in your diesel tank. ... Diesel algae reproduce by multiplying themselves, so they can rapidly grow in numbers”
Circular grinder is definitely the wrong tool. This man is right, use a needle gun at 100 psi and then use muriatic acid with a water rinse. airgun dry. If there is a water trap clean those up too. Then paint the water traps and tops only.
Thanks for the tip. We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
Have you thought of a stripping compound? In the states we have something called naval jelly that is suppose to remove rust and paint. It would create a lot of fumes but it might be less labor intense. Love the channel. Your energy is amazing.
Well, like you said you did your best. Sometimes with all things considered “ the best is all we have available to us and so we use it.” You also said you can open it up and check on it in about 2 years to see how it is. That sounds like a logical plan to me. BTW , HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! 🎊🎉🎈🎈💖💐🌟 ( I am very happy for you that you have been together for this length of time; I wish you both many more years together for the future.)😀
Great to see another episode and see you making some progress, however slow ! ....I really feel for you with those problems and it's always hard to know what to do for the best. I'm no expert but (for what it's worth) I'll offer my opinion and hope that it may be some help ! ....firstly, I would agree with the general consensus of the comments so far - that you are being overly concerned about this problem and it's not as bad as you may imagine. I assume that the boat already has a Racor fuel polishing system , or that you will be fitting one as a matter of course anyway ?. I have seen people use two Racor's on the fuel line - utilising first a 10 micron then a 2 micron filter (both with glass bowls for easy visual inspection) this will really prevent any fuel contamination however small. You could also install some screw down inspection discs into the tank lids at this point - then you will be able to insert a gloved hand and swab the inside of the tanks at any point in the future, without unbolting and de-sealing the entire lid. Having said that though - you're being very diligent in the work that you're doing and I am very much of the same mindset, so if it was my boat and I was in your situation ....I have to say, with even the hint of avoiding a future problem - I WOULD continue and paint the damn tanks regardless ! 😂 ...because - if it's hard, dirty, time consuming work to do just now - you can imagine how hard, dirty, time consuming (and expensive) it will be to do it in the future, once you're on the water and the tanks are full of diesel...... plus, as a general thought - It is simply not possible that you will find yourself in the future, sitting with very clean diesel and a sweet running engine - but regretting the time and effort you spent making sure that is the case. Regret will only work in the opposite direction. If you do decide to strip and paint the rest of them just now, I would strongly advise that you get some 80 grit 3M flap discs for the angle grinder, and some flap wheels / drums for the cordless drill - that will be far quicker and more effective than what you're using at the moment 😉 Hope you had a Happy Anniversary and the cold is better ! .....I'm sure the boat is going to turn out great, whatever you do.
Thanks a lot for your support! We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
I do some blasting myself. Works great but that’s some really difficult and time consuming mess to clean up 😞 ..... might be worth looking into acid etching before you commit to blasting !
Thanks for the tip. We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
Install a second inline fuel filter, that will catch any flaking paint, besides what doesn't come off now with all the elbow grease you have put into it, will very likely never budge. Cheers
Not just the cover, but the inside is rusted too! No reason to worry, diesel is anti rust! The rust just happened because the boat was sit for 20 years, and condensation had occured!
We are actually trying to put together a wet sandblasting machine, so we can use it with garnet and water. That's gonna be our next try. So, fingers crossed.
@@glynnmorris2117 Very true. The wire will get into the corroded spots better than the disc, but media blasting or a chemical dip would likely be required unless you're using a paint or primer product that can be applied over corroded metal.
You guys are doing a perfect job, growing up in a shipyard I can tell you that you are doing more to treat the tanks than most people would think necessary. Most important is the new seal and you have the perfect product. Congrats on your anniversary from us all...❤
I thought of that too - it's kind of similar in action to the nailbrush but maybe faster at angle grinder speeds. I used one to take rust of a very corroded old vice and it went well. Congrats on your anniversary Roberta and Duca, you really deserve each other in the best way.
Thanks for the tip. We actually tried this method, but it didn't go well with the coal tar. We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
I had to smile when Duca said “its good its not vibrating too much” I have worked in an open areas with a needle gun, and wished I could use something-someone else to do it. Have you thought about a rust converter? Paint on, leave, paint over. As you say its really think steel its been sat for 20+ years to get the small amount of rust. When the diesel starts sloshing around the steel will be covered more and keeping the tanks topped up will help. 👍👍👍
Never underestimate the power of ingenious improvising. Where there is a desire, there is a way. You guys are awesome. não é tão ruim, não perca a esperança
Congratulations on 13 years together you both look so happy doing what your doing, I've been watching your videos for the past few weeks and I'm hooked!! I cant wait to see this boat sail around the Caribbean. Keep at it and I hope the diesel tank holds out looks like a good job done so far 👍
happy 13 years guys so love the way roberta watches duca with so much love as he is exspalining re the boat project one can feel the love.....love the way boat is progressing...a inside tour of boat at this point would be cool
Congratulations on your anniversary! It is always enjoyable to watch your videos. I like how kind you are to each other and to the people around you. As far as the painting goes, I agree with what you tried. The proof will be in how well it holds up over the years. As long as the paint has no small pinholes that would allow air to get in behind the paint, then you should be good.
Good call on painting the tanks with the specialty coating yall! If it’s one thing that boats do more than moving is sit around most of the time(!). You all continue to impress with your attention to detail. One of the best, smartest restoration videos on TH-cam.
13 years!!! This is totally amazing you look as if you just felt in love just 6 months ago! You two are truly amazing people! I hope you will make a full video sometimes and share your secrets and life philosophy!
Congratulations on thirteen years together , hope you have many many more. . Keep going your doing excellent work . It will be well worth all your efforts on completion . .
The first one is always the hardest and takes the longest. When the needle gun came out I smiled because those are such a pain. The way you contained the sanding was very creative. Thanks for sharing and remember it’s your boat. You’ll figure out the way the works for you and gives you confidence in the finished product.
Thanks for your support. We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
Excelente trabajo chicos!!! Descansad y seguid!! Ánimo desde Valencia, España!
Happy Anniversary ! Sending you positive thoughts and energy from Tn, USA. Years from now you’ll remember all your hard work to make your dream a reality ! With moderation comes celebration.
Hi Duca and Roberta, Congratulations on your anniversary. You two make a great team! As for your tank painting project, I would agree with the majority that as seen in your videos the diesel tanks look to be in fairly good condition for setting so long. I would refinish the covers and hold off on the other sections of the tank. One tool that is out there that works very well is called the “Bristle Blaster”. If you cannot abrasive blast or for small jobs like this they work great. The last comment is on the coating application. You should always coat the weld seams and edges first. This is called “Stripe Coating” and it makes sure you have to roper coating thickness on the edges and joints. Good luck and I love watching you two make progress. Hope you are sailing soon…
Thanks for your best wishes. The problem is that the tank is part of the hull, so we need to treat the rust of it anyways. We actually tried it, but it didn't go well with the coal tar. . We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
You guys are doing a grand job. You will find that many things in maintence of any vehicle is a lesson in alternatives. Do what is right for you. I have also seen many sailing videos and the best ones always show that matianence is a constant even when sailing. So what you do now getting your boat ready figure you will need to do it all over again bit by bit as the voyage continues. Bless you both and have a grand time on your grand boat in many grand places.
As always, you two have done some great work this week. I really admire the fact that no matter how dirty, nasty, hard or sweaty or long a job is, you just plow through it and get it done with 😁. Though the diesel tanks look and seem “OK“ and serviceable, you will Never regret doing the excellent job you are doing. In my opinion, going above and beyond is never a waste of time. With any paint work, the prep work is the most important and you have done an excellent job with that. Now we just have to hope the product you used lives up to it’s sales brochure. It sure looks awesome, probably better than new. Hope you have a great week, looking forward to next episode 👍🏽
I've never met anyone with the attention to detail as u two. You are an inspiration! Your boat is going to be brand new! Gosh those sand blasting tool are amazing ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
Hey Duca and Roberta, Once again thanks for the video. I understand your worries. But there is no need to worry. Don't sand, an don't paint. I've sailed lots of big boats that were very old. And yes, I have experienced clogged filters. Your dieseltanks still look amazingly clean. All you need to do is add an extra big particle filter in the fuel supply to the engine. And make sure to have spare filters on stock. Change filters after the first month of sailing. And then after six months again. Please stop trying making a boat better then new. There is no need. The paint job outside is perfect. Start building the boat back together again please. You are on the verge of drowning in a project. Please don't let that happen. Lots of love from holland.
Whatever decision you make about the tanks, don't worry too much about it. You have both already made the most important decisions. You picked the right partner and the right boat. Congratulations!!
You two are doing a wonderful job. And as you said PLANS CHANGE, you have to do what YOU two think is the best course of action based on your observations and consideration of the overwhelming amount of "expert" advise you are receiving. Remember in two years it is you that will be on the boat and not the "experts". I read in one of the comments where they say "Youre redefining the phrase „going the extra mile“. I have noticed in everything you do, you two do "go the extra mile". This will pay off in the future, when you are enjoying Sun Downers in the French Polynesia and knowing you did a great job on refitting the boat. Looking forward to the next episode!
I need to deal with rust on the frame of my truck this winter...that needle gun is incredible and I need to get one. I knew about them but seeing how well it worked in the corners...perfect for my project. Keep up the great work.
We were amazed with the gun. It’s really good. A friend of ours use to sharpening the tip of the needles and he gets a good result doing this. We didn’t do it because the gun wasn’t ours. Make sure to have a good compressor. Good luck on your project
I think you’re doing an awesome job with the tanks!!! I recommend a really good diesel fuel filter system. You need to do it right now so you’ll never have to worry about it again. Imagine being out at sea and having dirty/rusty fuel problems. Keep up the good work!!!
Hi Duca and Roberta. Thank you for your great Monday treat to us all. There appears to be a lot of advice regarding your tank(s). Whether or not you go ahead and paint the tanks, you must seriously consider rigging up a temporary ventilation extraction system from inside the boat, in order that you do not cause any more damage to your lungs. Your health has got to be the most important thing in your lives.
You guys are amazing. I am confident that the scraping, and removing rust and loose paint, plus adding the layers of new epoxy paint will last for decades to come. Petroleum products like diesel don't cause rust, water does, probably from the condensation over the years of just sitting on land. So in an enclosed diesel tank system on a boat that is being used, I'm sure all will be well after your work is done. You are a wonderful couple and I want to wish you both a very Happy Anniversary. May God bless you with at least 60 more happy years together. :-)
You did a close to perfect job on the one part you did! Do the rest that way and keep adding diesel and using your boat it will last a very very long time! Keep up the good work ❤️
Roberta and Duca, Congratulations on your 13th anniversary, which would be today, October 21, 2019. :-) You were so lucky to find one another! I've read some of the comments from people who know a lot more about rust in diesel fuel tanks than I do. It sounds like you're on the right track in treating that particular problem. Tom
Merci pour ce moment de bonne humeur, même vos questionnements philosophiques sur la rouille sont touchants ! Bon anniversaire, il n'est jamais trop tard... Sourire

Some engines have a cooler for the returning fuel. A excellent explanation Yonatan.
Amen to the dual filter system!

Thanks a lot, Captain!!
You will be fine. That's what fuel filters are for, pack in a few spares.
👍
When the boat is on the water the fuel will slosh around and it should not rust.
Yeah, so much work :O
That's what the previous owner thought would prevent the issue as well.
I agree with Salmon Hunter, it rusted because it was sitting motionless for so many years!!!!
Yep that is exactly what I said in last weeks video comments.
Corrosion will still occur as diesel fuel doesn't create a static protective coating.
I think the reason it rusted was that your diesel was not getting sloched around as it was on hard stand for 20 years so the diesel was not coating the surfaces and dryed the tanks areas dried out.
Could be. But at the same time this is still the original paint that was painted 28 years ago. Hehehe or a combination of all of that. Hehehehe
99% of the fleet sits it's life in the marina or on the hard. Not sloshing about.
Peter Attfield diesel will condensate rapidly in temp inversion conditions adding water that’s why you use water separator filters, that water will allow an algae to grow and that causes the rust to form.
TuneAFish Garage I don’t think algae can grow in diesel it’s to oily

Well, like you said you did your best. Sometimes with all things considered “ the best is all we have available to us and so we use it.” You also said you can open it up and check on it in about 2 years to see how it is. That sounds like a logical plan to me. BTW , HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!!! 🎊🎉🎈🎈💖💐🌟 ( I am very happy for you that you have been together for this length of time; I wish you both many more years together for the future.)😀
Thanks a lot for your support and lovely wishes! 👫💕
You both are such an encouragement! I love the advice to 'think about it' long enough to make a good decision.
Thanks for the kind words. 💕
Congratulations on being together for 13 years, Thanks for sharing, peace out.
Thanks a lot
Water sand blaster , normal high pressure waterjet with a sand nozzle
Even better, dry ice.
Soda blasting
Thanks for the tip. We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
I'm an old sailor, the needle gun work is second best to sand blasting.
Thanks for sharing your experience with us
Install a second inline fuel filter, that will catch any flaking paint, besides what doesn't come off now with all the elbow grease you have put into it, will very likely never budge. Cheers
Thanks for the tip, we are working on that already
Y’all are amazing together! Congratulations on 13 years and many!! Great video 👍🏻
Thakns a lot, Joe
Congratulations on 13 years together, you are both lucky to have found each other.
Thanks a lot! 👫💕
Dude, turn the covers over and use the un-pitted side!
Assumes the bolts are symmetrical.
Haha that would be too easy. Seriously if that worked it's genius.
Probably cheaper to get new covers than to paint
Flip or get new ones, either way don't put the pitted side back in
Not just the cover, but the inside is rusted too! No reason to worry, diesel is anti rust! The rust just happened because the boat was sit for 20 years, and condensation had occured!
You could sandblast the small remaining spots... easy enough... and don’t use sand, use beads.
We are actually trying to put together a wet sandblasting machine, so we can use it with garnet and water. That's gonna be our next try. So, fingers crossed.
@@OddLifeCrafting Good idea. Still a bit messy, but less dusty!
Try a twisted wire "cup brush" on the grinder instead of the disc you used
produto.mercadolivre.com.br/MLB-1202784894-escova-de-aco-tipo-copo-trancada-p-esmerilhadeira-65mm-m14-_JM
I don't think a wire brush will leave a good surface for the paint to key to.
@@glynnmorris2117 Very true. The wire will get into the corroded spots better than the disc, but media blasting or a chemical dip would likely be required unless you're using a paint or primer product that can be applied over corroded metal.
We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
@@OddLifeCrafting Can the tank be removed? Media/sand blasting in place would be so so messy.
"Fragile" - you said it perfect. Relax. Great (and hard) work! Love your channel!!
Hehe. Thanks, Chris
You guys are doing a perfect job, growing up in a shipyard I can tell you that you are doing more to treat the tanks than most people would think necessary. Most important is the new seal and you have the perfect product. Congrats on your anniversary from us all...❤
Thanks a lot for your support and best wishes for your anniversary
Have you thought about using a wirebrush disk on the anglegrinder?
or a flappy sanding disk
Steel doesn't think.
@@manolisgledsodakis873 Thats why its thick.👍
😬 There are parts of the paint coming off and we need to take them off anyways. The problem is that the rust is under the coal tar
@@OddLifeCrafting yep, its a real messy job
There might be some kind of acid product that can etch out the tanks for you.
We were afraid of not been able to take off all the acid off the tanks before painting them and have problems.
Happy anniversary to you two!! You are wonderful people and your obvious love for each other is what we all hope to find in life. 👫
Thanks a lot, Nick!👫💕
Cool vid guys! Happy thirteenth anniversary!
That's my favourite number. The day I was born!
Thankyou both for sharing.
Thanks a lot, Tony. 💕
another instance when you wish you had a sandblaster huh ever thought of using acid inside the tank?
We did think. We were afraid of not been able to take off all the acid off the tanks before painting them and have problems.
My God, 13 years together 🤔🤔🤔
How old are you guys?????
Do you start to date with 13????😅
😂😂 we are 35 and 36 years old
Never underestimate the power of ingenious improvising. Where there is a desire, there is a way. You guys are awesome.
não é tão ruim, não perca a esperança
Thanks for the support
Congrats on your happy and lucky 13 years. Good luck on the next 13 years and the boat.
Thanks a lot, Marcus
Congratulations on 13 years together you both look so happy doing what your doing, I've been watching your videos for the past few weeks and I'm hooked!! I cant wait to see this boat sail around the Caribbean. Keep at it and I hope the diesel tank holds out looks like a good job done so far 👍
Thanks for yours kind words and support, Marc
happy 13 years guys so love the way roberta watches duca with so much love as he is exspalining re the boat project one can feel the love.....love the way boat is progressing...a inside tour of boat at this point would be cool
Thanks a lot, Gary. Next week will have a tour of the boat and a Q&A
Viva el Amor!!! Felices trece primeros años. Son dos seres maravillosos. Qué belleza haberse encontrado!!
Gracias, Carlos 💕👫
Congratulations on your anniversary! It is always enjoyable to watch your videos. I like how kind you are to each other and to the people around you. As far as the painting goes, I agree with what you tried. The proof will be in how well it holds up over the years. As long as the paint has no small pinholes that would allow air to get in behind the paint, then you should be good.
Thanks a lot for your kind words and for sharing your thoughts with us
I love your blogs, and I love you guys. You guys are awesome. Hope to see you in the water soon 👍💖
Thanks 💕👫⛵️
You two are so inspiring. Your hard work and dedication shine like summer sun. Just an awesome couple. Stay true.
Thanks a lot for your kind words! ⛵️💕💕
Thanks a lot for your kind words! ⛵️💕💕
Lovely couple.........a joy to watch......
👫💕
Good call on painting the tanks with the specialty coating yall! If it’s one thing that boats do more than moving is sit around most of the time(!). You all continue to impress with your attention to detail. One of the best, smartest restoration videos on TH-cam.
Thanks for the support, Edwin!
You guys are amazing! You will know that everything is done right from the beginning. Thanks Folks!
Thanks a lot for your support
@@OddLifeCrafting Looking forward to what comes next for you guys!!
13 years!!! This is totally amazing you look as if you just felt in love just 6 months ago!
You two are truly amazing people! I hope you will make a full video sometimes and share your secrets and life philosophy!
Thanks for your kind words, Eric. 👫💕
Congratulations on thirteen years together , hope you have many many more. . Keep going your doing excellent work . It will be well worth all your efforts on completion . .
Thanks a lot 👫💕
The first one is always the hardest and takes the longest. When the needle gun came out I smiled because those are such a pain. The way you contained the sanding was very creative. Thanks for sharing and remember it’s your boat. You’ll figure out the way the works for you and gives you confidence in the finished product.
Thanks for your support. We are actually trying to put together an old sandblaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!! Fingers crossed
Excelente trabajo chicos!!! Descansad y seguid!! Ánimo desde Valencia, España!
Gracias por lo apoyo
Kudos on 13 years. Cheers to you both. Great work, as always, it's a pleasure watching your content. 🛥👁👁🌎👍🏻🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🗓🥳

Happy Anniversary ! Sending you positive thoughts and energy from Tn, USA. Years from now you’ll remember all your hard work to make your dream a reality ! With moderation comes celebration.
Thanks a lot, David!!
Enjoy your videos and the time you share with us the viewers the two of you provide a different perspective from some of the other channels.
💕 Thanks for your feedback
You guys are awesome. Love the teamwork, love your perseverance. Keep going strong!!
Thanks a lot, Brian
Totally agree with your decision to think about sanding the ither tank which is less rusted. The painted tank looks stunning.
👍🏻 thanks a lot, Lydie
The boat is looking beautiful. I hope your sail colour is equally stunning.
😍⛵
Congratulations on your anniversary! You make such a wonderful couple!
Thanks a lot, Kathy
You guys are doing a grand job. You will find that many things in maintence of any vehicle is a lesson in alternatives. Do what is right for you. I have also seen many sailing videos and the best ones always show that matianence is a constant even when sailing. So what you do now getting your boat ready figure you will need to do it all over again bit by bit as the voyage continues. Bless you both and have a grand time on your grand boat in many grand places.
Thanks for the support
I wish I had the energy you both have. You also work so well together, keep up the good work!
👫💕💕💕
Thanks for the support, Kenny. We are actually putting together an old sand blaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!!
congratulation on your happy marriage .love what you are doing with the boat and container house ..
Thanks a lot 👫💕
I've never met anyone with the attention to detail as u two. You are an inspiration!
Your boat is going to be brand new!
Gosh those sand blasting tool are amazing ⭐️🌟⭐️🌟⭐️
We are so happy that you considere us an inspiration couple. Thanks for your support.
Positivity is a plus! Looks good so far!
Thanks, Jeremy
Hey Duca and Roberta,
Once again thanks for the video.
We are actually putting together an old sand blaster portable machine and we might be able to sand blast the tank!!
You guys are doing a great job. Keep up the great work.
Thanks a lot, Lawrence
Whatever decision you make about the tanks, don't worry too much about it. You have both already made the most important decisions. You picked the right partner and the right boat. Congratulations!!
👫💕
Hello from Va again . You guys are very determined and have lots of patience. Great job ! see you next week.
Thanks for your support, Randy
Thanks for the support! 💕
Está ficando pronto!!!! Maravilha!!!!!
Parabéns pelos 13 anos juntos 🍾🥰
Obrigada!! 👫⛵️💕
I think you did the correct thing. Looks very good.
Thanks for the support
I think you’re doing an awesome job with the tanks!!! I recommend a really good diesel fuel filter system. You need to do it right now so you’ll never have to worry about it again. Imagine being out at sea and having dirty/rusty fuel problems. Keep up the good work!!!
Thanks for the tip
Congratulations, and bless you both and your future. We all deserve someone who brings the best out in you.
Thanks a lot, Jonathan
Happy anniversary!!! It's just the beggining, you two will get very old together, I can see it! Congratulations.
Thanks, Alejandro!
Thanks for the concern, Tony. The problem about a fan is that we could put some coal tar on our white fresh painted deck.
Menudo trabajo que estáis haciendo. Olé Por vosotros Dos.
Gracias
You guys are amazing. I am confident that the scraping, and removing rust and loose paint, plus adding the layers of new epoxy paint will last for decades to come. Petroleum products like diesel don't cause rust, water does, probably from the condensation over the years of just sitting on land. So in an enclosed diesel tank system on a boat that is being used, I'm sure all will be well after your work is done. You are a wonderful couple and I want to wish you both a very Happy Anniversary. May God bless you with at least 60 more happy years together. :-)
Thanks for the best wishes and for the tips
You did a close to perfect job on the one part you did! Do the rest that way and keep adding diesel and using your boat it will last a very very long time! Keep up the good work ❤️
Thanks for the support, Rob
Happy anniversary... great video and great pic of your younger years.. thanks for sharing.. keep it up
Thanks a lot, Jeremy
Roberta and Duca,
Congratulations on your 13th anniversary, which would be today, October 21, 2019. :-) You were so lucky to find one another!
I've read some of the comments from people who know a lot more about rust in diesel fuel tanks than I do. It sounds like you're on the right track in treating that particular problem.
Tom
Thanks a lot, Tom!
You guys are doing an amazing job on the boat. It's going to be well worth when your out sailing.
👫⛵️💕
Merci pour ce moment de bonne humeur, même vos questionnements philosophiques sur la rouille sont touchants !
Bon anniversaire, il n'est jamais trop tard... Sourire
Merci, Alain
