  • This was a day hike that I did on February 2, 2019 with my hiking club, the Greenville Natural History Association (GNHA). GNHA is the largest and most active hiking club in Upstate South Carolina. We have approximately 700 members. Our hikes are in South Carolina, North Carolina and sometimes Tennessee and Georgia.
This hike was in the Table Rock State Park area in South Carolina. Here is the GNHA hike description:
We will meet at the Pavilion in Table Rock Park, hike the Palmetto Trail to the Long Ridge connector trail, eat lunch at the Petroglyphs along the Long Ridge trail. At this point most of the climbing is behind us, then a short distance to the Foothills Trail, and take it back to the parking lot. Drivers bring a park pass!
The hike was 13.4 miles with 2789 feet of elevation gain.

That is a great video. Places along the Foothills Trail are some of the best for hiking in South Carolina. I've been to the Petroglyph Site your way and others. I like the route from Woodmere Road which is a shortcut to the Palmetto Trail because it takes a lot less time. However, I seem to have misplaced my map of the old logging roads (including Long Ridge), and it's easy to make a wrong turn and get lost on some of those roads. If you know where I can find another (online or otherwise) please let me know.

It sure is! I wish it was not closed right now due to the coronavirus. ☹️

Great video! Did you enjoy the re-route you helped build last summer?

Thanks Andrew. I did enjoy the re-routed section, but it was a little slippery! I think we may want to add some steps through that section in the future. 😁

Table rock state park is much greater and grander than stone Mt in NC. Views are amazing and the trails much more strenuous.
