Brand identity is more than just a pretty logo! Love how Shannon emphasizes the feeling you create for customers. It's about the whole vibe, not just the visuals.
As someone who was a Brand Specialist for 25 years, before following my other passion and becoming a professional artists, I have to say I love how clearly you explain this and how important it is. Great job! And thank you for your videos. It's because of artists like you and Bethany Vere that I took the leap to full time artist. So thank you for being you and always being so authentic.
Love the depth of brand values. Many people mistakenly think it's just colors and themes, failing to understand how each design element evokes specific feelings in the audience.
It crafts a distinct identity, differentiates you from competitors, and fosters trust with your audience. It’s the key to standing out and leaving a memorable mark.
Branding is a big thing to any company that's why it is important. Love everything about this video. Also; unlimited design with 1-2 day turnaround is really awesome if Penji can really do it. Me as an artist cannot believe that it is possible since I know how hard it is!
Branding is essential for any business. It creates a unique identity, sets you apart from competitors, and builds trust with your audience. It’s the key to standing out and making a lasting impression.
Shannon, this video could not be better! Professional, understandable and extremely informative! You are a great speaker and have a knack for explaining everything in perfect detail! Excellent and outstanding! Bob😊
Hi Shannon, I bought Affinity month back thanks to you because I watch yr videos where you showed how you use it and I can't thank you enough🙏. I love it and it's a great option when we can't afford a monthly subscription with Photoshop.🙂 Another great video. For me, finding the right logo or name for a business is definitively the hardest thing. Also, being artistic and business person it's a challenge 😊. But you are doing it so well, it's very inspiring. I love the final sketch, it's brilliant and fun. Thank you so much for yr generosity and keep up with your amazing work.
Thank you for your lovely comment! I’m so glad you’re loving affinity, it’s incredible how much you save when you add up all the time you use it over the years 😊 I’m glad you enjoyed the video! I agree it’s something I spend a long time considering before making a final decision. Thank you so much I hope you continue to enjoy affinity! 🤍
That was so informative and inspiring! How do you balance maintaining a consistent brand identity while still allowing room for creativity and evolution as your business grows?

Hi Alfie! That’s amazing I’m glad to hear you’ve been doing more drawing since the class, a rainforest frog sounds super cool too ☺️ I hope you’re enjoying your new pack of pencils!! They’re the best 😄
How clearly you taught us branding. And you are soo sweet and friendly. I think the thanks for watching illustration should contain a pet drawing on your canvas or somewhere on the wall. Also I think it should contain you tube subscribe icon, it will make the hook for subscribing. So this is my addition to the illustration. Overall I like the illustration, its soo good. THANKYOU 🙂
Thank you for this video, very informative. I'd love to know about creating a website and marketing my business. If, those are things you might consider for a video :) I've been working markets and would love to grow an online presence as well.
Fab...need to get a proper logo myself....things a bit tight atm.....I have photoshop as I also do photography...should look up some tutorials on that....
Thanks Shannon, really useful information. I have a dilemma about my branding at the moment because until 4 months ago, I was predominantly painting in watercolour so my logo and branding is heavily influenced by watercolour. However, through ill health I’ve had to diversify and found a talent I never knew I had of coloured pencil drawings of pet portraits and wildlife. I’ve added some of my coloured pencil work on my website but am wondering whether to completely separate the two. I’d be interested in your thoughts 😊
Hi Sarah, that’s a really good question and I can see your dilemma! Is your original logo quite subtle or is it very obvious your offering revolves around watercolour? I think separating both mediums as two different ‘brands’ with different logos and styles would be a lot of effort to maintain, it’s hard enough growing one social media account, and updating one website without having two. Also a lot of artists experiment with a few different mediums, but as long as it’s still a representation of you and your personal brand I wouldn’t be too concerned! If you were doing watercolour paintings of animals and then started doing cartoon / manga art it might be a bit confusing and they wouldn’t make sense together, but if your work is mostly of nature whether it’s landscapes, animals or flowers in my opinion it all makes sense to go together ☺️ If you were concerned the logo doesn’t fit, I’d probably suggest simplifying the logo and making it a little more generic to fit with both art styles! I hope that helps!
@@shannonmullin Thank you so much for replying Shannon. I fully understand what you are saying and I think with a few tweaks it will fit with the rest of the branding. Thanks for your help and for explaining things so clearly in your video. I do love your videos.
Thank you for this Shannon, I wonder if it would be possible to offer some help on how to narrow down the very many options of fonts and templates places like Canva offer? I draw big cats but in gentle themes but don't want to look too soft but not fierce either 😅🤔
Good question!! I actually use a separate website most of the time for choosing fonts. It’s called dafont.com and it shows lots of different ‘styles’ of font and you can input preview text to see what each one would look like for your chosen words. You can download the fonts and import them into canva / affinity etc! ☺️ I find it so much easier to browse on there and they have more unique fonts than the basic ones that are available with the programs. I find once you start looking through them you’re naturally drawn to certain ones 😄 I hope this helps!
The Lucy & Yak shoutout is spot-on! Their branding is so fun and unique. It makes you want to be part of their world.
The "rewilding" concept is so on-trend right now. Love how Shannon highlighted a brand that embraces that connection to nature.
Brand identity is more than just a pretty logo! Love how Shannon emphasizes the feeling you create for customers. It's about the whole vibe, not just the visuals.

Shannon, you mentioned using Canva for design. Do you have any recommendations for tutorials to learn more about using it effectively?

Outsourcing is a good idea if you want to do more to your business (marketing) than sticking your nose in creating design work.
I'm not so inclined with designs, where can I get great branding that doesn't cost a fortune?
For simplicity and ease of use, I often recommend Penji.
Great Content about Branding !
