This combat patrol really surprised me! I'll be working on the AoS Vanguard videos soon & I am going to review all of the White Dwarf combat patrols and AoS Spearhead boxes (once 4th edition releases) so subscribe for that! Also, the White Dwarf cards for the combat patros are really useful, so if you are considering playing one of the WD combat patrols, buying the magazine actually makes sense IMO. Thanks for watching and supporting the channel!
I swooped up 18 Leapers as soon as Leviathan released. I was going to run a stealth list for fun regardless of rules. But I'll definitely try this combat patrol.
Solid review, thanks once more! This feels like "good" marketing from GW to me: highlight an interesting theme without the need for a complete army of it, but still tempting you enough to buy more of something you otherwise might not. I guess most people have enough Tyranid Warriors as proxies for the VRL, and two different Lictor models should also be in a lot of collections - so at least the "let's just try this out" is easy enough. I just wish we would not have to wait for the free PDF version for long. As for the Hachette series: unless they start this ON TOP of the currently running "Stormbringer" one (AoS), that CP magazine will not start here in Germany before late 2025 or early 2026. We have 73 issues of "Stormbringer" left, and the following series might not be coming directly afterwards. This has some interesting implications for collecting AoS/40K, but you would wait A LONG time just to try this CP with Hachette models.
@OurCognitiveSurplus Rules as written yes. Whenever we have someone play this Combat Patrol, we just re-roll the mission if we get Display of might, or we house rule that the Neurolictor has the Character keyword.
I just played combat patrol against them with my sisters and got wiped out first round. Not a fun game. They have a ton of ap on their hits, tons of attacks, decent saves, fight first, super fast, and the list goes on and on. Sisters armor doesn’t matter when there is ap to the extent the Nids have. If the other person playing Nids gets good roles you’re dying quick. I have played sisters for 5 games before and never have I had an army completely wipe them out like these tyranids did. I don’t see how any combat patrol army could win against them honestly.

Amazing review dude. Subbed.
I snagged some Leapers on eBay and am looking forward to trying this out.
I love that White Dwarf is providing the data cards on cardstock. (I wish they'd do that for their new Cursed City rules, too.)
Does this team auto lose the Display of Might mission because it doesn’t have anyone with the Character keyword to claim the sacred sites?

Is it bad that I see this more as a potential Night Lords CP? Seriously all that battle shock just sounds really nice.
this should have been a value box.
Stuff like this might be part of a Christmas box, agreed.
