Lord commissioner I believe you should claim Alexandria and make it your capital for thr sole purpose of breaking away from the empire, to claim independence will be a arduous journey but I believe it will be the best choise for your lineage and subjects. Hey Surreal, I've been wondering if the game is worth getting. I have a few opinions from my brief glimpses of the game, but I want your opinion. Goods: Roleplay has been fleshed out somewhat, giving wider options of how to re-act to certain events. And focus's work just like in CK2. But the ability to gain/loose traits seem's to either be very low, not implemented. Or just very hard to do. Easier mechanics. Explained somewhat and allows newer players to CK series to get into the game more easily. Counciler's matter!: Finally. Chancellor ship isn't the most useless and most useful thing. Instead of a chance of getting a random chance of a claim. Depending heavily on the skillmanship of diplomacy. It's a time based, very nice. Spouses have a role in your life, which is very wonderful and helpful. Amazing all around. Expanded buildings/building mechanics. Allows you a much greater ability to run your lands how you want, rather then every land acting like a carbon copy of each other with some places having special/unique buildings exclusively. Instead allowing you to build an area dedicated to recruitment of men. To full on economy based town's. Intrigue means something. Aside from just attempting to be a murderer, and hoping that people in the courts across the lands hate their lieges. And would maybe help you in your scheme to murder or fabricate a claim. It was utterly useless in ck2. Now you can kidnap, run multiple schemes. Blackmail and extort people, be a real shadow man. A real spymaster, which is really cool. And maybe seemingly overpowered, especially in the very beginning of the game. Fear/Dread. A nice implementation, allowing people to be fearful of your characters actions in a way. The more sadistic and menancing you are, the less willing people will be confrontational with you. Allowing you to be forceful and people will grovel and fear you, as well as people seemingly not wanting to declare war or mess with you. Expanded religious/spiritual stuff. Awesome! Allowing you to conform faith's, bring faiths back from the dead. Install religious institutions. Create your own faith. (But as well as removing religious societies from ck2. Which was underwhelming greatly, but still. It did allow a sense of this is a cult, hiding away beneath the shadows of the dominate faith. I feel CK3 will be adding this in expansions which will be fucking expensive, like in ck2.) Culture technology base? Interesting, allowing your people to develop certain kinds of technology and go down different paths. Allowing for you to develop and invovate at a much slower scale, but overall means something for the entire people who are that culture. ~~~~~~~~~~~ Cons: Culture means pretty much nothing, culture developement of technology? Okay.. Interesting. But it's a two edge sword/snowball affect. The more people, the faster technology develops. The less, the slower. Pretty much how I assume it works, based on the limited viewings I've seen. Diplomacy: Sucks. It's just a port of ck2 but dumb down. No non-aggression pacts. No forced tributary options from states. No vassal subjugation, none of that. It's back to the ol' fight, don't fight. Truce mechanic. AI is bound to honor peaces, ai never attacks, more then likely just judging manpower and alliances of how many men can fight. Not taking into account troop varieties. Warfare: Just another port from ck2. It's just as crappy as it was in ck2. Heavy troops, heavy cav, ranged troops. Pikes. Siege weapon's. Those dominate the battlefields, but when in doubt. Use overwhelming number's and whittle down the enemy. Terrain is just another port. Setting up a somewhat smaller force against the AI's overwhelming number's, have a decent/good commander. And they will break and run away. And keep hitting your force. If you have equal or more forces, the AI will still go out of it's way to attack your lands, or weak ally lands. No matter how far away. Even if they could jump a weak force, the ai seem's rather.. Stupid for warfare. Much more, these are just my personal thoughts and right now, cannot be bothered to writing out every little thing of mine. Rather just interested in seeing any view points or people giving proof to what is right and wrong.

Lord commissioner I believe you should claim Alexandria and make it your capital for thr sole purpose of breaking away from the empire, to claim independence will be a arduous journey but I believe it will be the best choise for your lineage and subjects. You can always keep close ties with them but not be subjected to their whims. Furthermore you can reform orthodoxy into a more beneficial and proper religion for the people.

Hey Surreal, I've been wondering if the game is worth getting.
I have a few opinions from my brief glimpses of the game, but I want your opinion.
Goods:
Roleplay has been fleshed out somewhat, giving wider options of how to re-act to certain events. And focus's work just like in CK2. But the ability to gain/loose traits seem's to either be very low, not implemented. Or just very hard to do.
Easier mechanics. Explained somewhat and allows newer players to CK series to get into the game more easily.
Counciler's matter!: Finally. Chancellor ship isn't the most useless and most useful thing. Instead of a chance of getting a random chance of a claim. Depending heavily on the skillmanship of diplomacy. It's a time based, very nice.
Spouses have a role in your life, which is very wonderful and helpful. Amazing all around.
Expanded buildings/building mechanics. Allows you a much greater ability to run your lands how you want, rather then every land acting like a carbon copy of each other with some places having special/unique buildings exclusively. Instead allowing you to build an area dedicated to recruitment of men. To full on economy based town's.
Intrigue means something. Aside from just attempting to be a murderer, and hoping that people in the courts across the lands hate their lieges. And would maybe help you in your scheme to murder or fabricate a claim. It was utterly useless in ck2. Now you can kidnap, run multiple schemes. Blackmail and extort people, be a real shadow man. A real spymaster, which is really cool. And maybe seemingly overpowered, especially in the very beginning of the game.
Fear/Dread. A nice implementation, allowing people to be fearful of your characters actions in a way. The more sadistic and menancing you are, the less willing people will be confrontational with you. Allowing you to be forceful and people will grovel and fear you, as well as people seemingly not wanting to declare war or mess with you.
Expanded religious/spiritual stuff. Awesome! Allowing you to conform faith's, bring faiths back from the dead. Install religious institutions. Create your own faith. (But as well as removing religious societies from ck2. Which was underwhelming greatly, but still. It did allow a sense of this is a cult, hiding away beneath the shadows of the dominate faith. I feel CK3 will be adding this in expansions which will be fucking expensive, like in ck2.)
Culture technology base? Interesting, allowing your people to develop certain kinds of technology and go down different paths. Allowing for you to develop and invovate at a much slower scale, but overall means something for the entire people who are that culture.

Cons: Culture means pretty much nothing, culture developement of technology? Okay.. Interesting. But it's a two edge sword/snowball affect. The more people, the faster technology develops. The less, the slower. Pretty much how I assume it works, based on the limited viewings I've seen.
Diplomacy: Sucks. It's just a port of ck2 but dumb down. No non-aggression pacts. No forced tributary options from states. No vassal subjugation, none of that. It's back to the ol' fight, don't fight. Truce mechanic. AI is bound to honor peaces, ai never attacks, more then likely just judging manpower and alliances of how many men can fight. Not taking into account troop varieties.
Warfare: Just another port from ck2. It's just as crappy as it was in ck2. Heavy troops, heavy cav, ranged troops. Pikes. Siege weapon's. Those dominate the battlefields, but when in doubt. Use overwhelming number's and whittle down the enemy. Terrain is just another port. Setting up a somewhat smaller force against the AI's overwhelming number's, have a decent/good commander. And they will break and run away. And keep hitting your force. If you have equal or more forces, the AI will still go out of it's way to attack your lands, or weak ally lands. No matter how far away. Even if they could jump a weak force, the ai seem's rather.. Stupid for warfare.
Much more, these are just my personal thoughts and right now, cannot be bothered to writing out every little thing of mine. Rather just interested in seeing any view points or people giving proof to what is right and wrong.
