Father, I was hazed by a frat 5 years ago and about 7 months ago all the suppressed trauma from what happened became unmanageable. I was forced to do many things including eating disgusting foods in order to vomit over 100 times in a 3 day span, and not sleep for the 3 days as well. At the end we were drugged and I had a nervous breakdown. About a year and a half ago I came to Christ and Orthodoxy and watched most of not all of your videos. For the last 7 months my spiritual father has been visiting me at my house because I have been unable to leave my house. I have not been able to swallow solid food because of what happened and liquids are still difficult. I am in constant pain and it has been labeled as “Complex PTSD” by doctors. Please pray for me, this has been the most difficult time for me and my family who is struggling as well. I went through years of abuse that left me broken. It gets better.....strengthen your body with nutrition and excercise, do things and take in stimuli that relaxes the nervous system, walks in nature, being with a nice animal, pray. I can trace the roots of my family back to the first written sources here in Norway, so it's not at all unlikely that some of my forefather might have traveled to the deeply Christian lands of Ireland and Britain back then, to spread fear, bloodshed, pagan beliefs, slavery, rape, theft and so on... So you have no idea how much it means to me to see a monk speaking to me from across the North Sea about The Way of Christ Jesus. I had a very bad problem hating women and indulging in lust. A former adult actress was giving her conversion testimony on a show that I was showing my then girlfriend at the time who was an aspiring one as well to try to convert her. During seasons of bitter "backsliding" I never researched certain material, namely the woman giving a testimony and I later fell in love with a very similar woman later in life, and it taught me to hate the works of asmodeus. I have a very hard problem not being humble and scattering sheep more than gathering and being a hair trigger angry person. It's almost like strife comes to find me and I erupt in very horrible ways, even after trying to pray, worship, and edify others. I'm so afraid God is going to humble me morbidly. My mother died early, Iill, and alone. ... I'm begging God to rather "take me out" in i.e: a robbery or a deadly self defense encounter. It's pretty feasible for my lifestyle, occupation wherabouts, and itinerary. It seems like God won't answer my prayers. It's hard to have faith when I seen my mother pass and other things. God bless

I also worry a lot about the coming times. I’ve prayed and asked God for discernment my whole life, and He has given it to me. The hardest part for me will be seeing some people I love fall to sin, or falling into deception. You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot force it to drink.
I am a worse sinner than you, my dear one. I actually am afraid for my own salvation, because I know how difficult it will be to live without trusting my own eyes, my own logic, my own discernment. We shall have to empty ourselves of our own senses and fully abandon ourselves to Christ and His shepherds. This sounds easy, but - as one who has tried to live under obedience for the last two decades of my life - I know how painfully difficult this will be for most people (myself more than all)
@@mullmonastery I am a sinner as well. God can give anyone discernment who prays for it. But it doesn’t come easily. It takes constant awareness, and even paranoia in some instances. This modern age of darkness can do that to a God fearing person, but it is a small price to pay to remain true to God and on the way to Salvation. This went in a direction different than I expected. I hadn't considered the gossip angle. The danger from AI, as such, is the human reality, NOT the creation of Terminator-like killer robots that decide to enslave or exterminate humanity. What PEOPLE do with AI is where the danger comes from, not the machines rising up to overthrow humanity. In The Lord of the Rings, the wizard Saruman fell because he was using a magical object, a Palantir seeing stone, beyond his ability to make. Someone with deeper abilities was able to manipulate him and turn him to evil. We use social media but we are not able to create it, ourselves. We are open to the manipulation of others, and even when there's just a mistake in an algorithm, we are hit with the mistakes and we don't know what's going on.

Father, please bless. My dissertation topic was on Deep Learning, an adjacent of AI (specifically, my research is in Compressive Sensing). The issue is far more concerning than you think. AI has been here since the 1960s. The technology to run what we have has been here at least for one decade, probably for two. What have these programs been doing "privately?" What fake images and videos have we ALREADY believed in years past? That's what scares me, Father. Now that this problem has (oddly) been foisted upon all of us, I worry about when we will ABSOLVE accountable people for REAL photographic evidence. For instance, let's say a murderer is caught on tape doing his killing but his defensive team highlights where AI had a chance to have been applied to frame his defendant in the chain of evidential handling, letting a murderer go on the streets. However, experts may be able to run programs and other analyses on the more crude forms of these images and determine their reality or unreality, but that means we need to trust the experts and their methodology - a trust that has been recently broken in the deepest way in the history of science. But most of all, I am worried about **how we are all worried.** This is why this has suddenly been unleashed on us by mysterious companies without solutions. We are going to accept many state controls, Father, state controls we would not have accepted otherwise. These laws will establish ministries of truth that "examine" photo and video evidence, leaving their methods internal. These departments will be accepted to assuage our fears just as the fake Anthrax attacks in 2001 caused us to accept the Patriot Act, DHS and Iraqi War without question. Where has that led us? To millions of deaths overseas and to a Department of Homeland Security that has now turned on its own people for political "crimes." Imagine what such a new "Department of AI and Deepfakes" can do! The damage is incalculable.
I just saw a short film where they put Bluetooth in paralyzed patient and connected it to his brain and spine. He can now walk . But , like you said , this same technology could be used for terrible things also . The line can be blurred depending on how it's used . Their is no getting rid of AI . We kust have to work on ourselves at this point and keep Faith .

We shall no longer be able to trust our own eyes, our own logical thinking. Father Seraphim, I just wanted to thank you for all that you do! One of your videos came up on my feed about a year ago in the midst of my newfound zeal for our sweetest Lord Jesus Christ. In that same time frame, i had come to the realization that i, a cradle Orthodox, truly knew little about our beautiful Orthodox faith. Thus, I began to do research and dive deep into Orthodoxy. That research caused me to have many questions. I did not have a spirital Father at the time, and as of the writing of this comment, I still have not found one. But our amazing Lord always finds a way to nurture us when we seek Him. I am applying to the Diaconte. A couple of the canonical requirements are concerning to me. I do not have a perfectly squeaky clean record. Nothing serious but I am worried that I may be judged. Also my wife was previously married and through no fault of her own got thrown into a difficult circumstance. I’m currently a sub deacon at my church. God has put it in my heart to pursue the Diaconate. We attend church every Sunday. I’m the first one there and the last one to leave. I donate and help our church as much as I possibly can. About a year and a half ago it was made very clear to me by the Holy Spirit that there has never been such a time that prayer is needed so urgently as it is in the current times. I was told to pray and pray hard. It startled me, because at the time, my life was going along very nicely and without upheaval. It still is today. But something wicked this way comes. Global events and the information presented in this video make this very clear.
I think paralyzing evil is waiting on the other side of these technological "advances". The state of our world is determined by the state of our consciousness. What will human consciousness be like when it is attached to a computer? We already have great challenges concerning our connection to the divine and our inner self.

Peace be with you Fr Seraphim. Since September last year I have embarked on the journey from Protestantism (of 49yrs) to the Orthodox way, needless to say it's been a very turbulent repentance. Since watching discrediting footage of Holy fire foul play it's like the demon assigned to my testing has been given extra large hammer & chisel to chip away at the new faith God has blessed me with. I accept I'm yet still a little dog scrambling for crumbs from the Master's table but if the Elect shall be deceived (if possible) then to whom (on earth) to I cling for guidance in this time of necessary delusion? My prayers ring if blasphemy to my ears, I'm even ashamed to address the blessed Mother the Holy Theotokos, for protection as I know what I am. My heart is as dry as my eyes even though the weight of my sin suffocates me constantly. Even my beautiful wife pushes her (formally 'our') ecumenistic idealism when I refer to the authority of the church concerning my need to total surrender lest I suffer dissipation from the true Incarnate Word. At nearly 50, with a life of running from truth through substance abuse, of what value is this old dog of no tricks to the blessed Bride of Christ? I'm tormented by the love for truth, and I gravely fear that deception will grip those around me through & because of my lack of faith. How can an outsider (me) navigate to Christ amidst all this crazy, why the harder I seek Him lands me further than ever? I am worse than St Moses, more depraved than St Mary, more sins to confess than words in the entire English language, what do I do when even my repentance seems to insult the Holy Bridegroom Jesus? First off nice to see you here, saw you in the comments on Fr. Mikhail's videos. I think all one can really say to your question is that if it's hard and painful then you're likely on the right path. I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with love for truth but don't try to chase it at any cost. As you pray and gain discernment it will be easier to spot what is wrong. From experience I can recommend taking Holy Communion as often as possible with the same humility you have shown in that comment, always reading the prayers before and after, at least 2-3 times a week. Remember, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you, it's really that simple. Blind trust only belongs to One, you don't need to worry about blindly trusting anyone else. Also if you feel like your prayers are unclean, simply cling to the prayers of the saints. The wealth and safety of the church is in its tradition.

Great message. I’m an Italian catholic. I would say that, throughout history, many saints have also not been able to be recognized and accepted because of other problems - i.e. illnesses that have now been cured, but, more importantly, all the REAL saints whom the Church never had the chance to know or to publicly recognize. I still pray that the consequences of the AI revolution will be more positive than negative. What matters is “who” controls the technology.

To be honest, dear one, I genuinely take very little interest in the topic of AI per se. I am aware that the vast majority of its applications (positive and negative) will affect our lives here, but what concerns me is the impact it will have on our spiritual life and implicitly, on our salvation.
Father Bless, You make some very good points Father about the two-edged sword that is technology, it can be very useful but also very destructive especially when linked to uncontrolled passions. The need to be watchful about ourselves is becoming even more important in these times for ourselves and our communities.
God has Control of A.I. if we Use it to Glorify Him. We must use it as a Tool of Christ and learn to Pray for everyone and learn to accept everyone regardless of opinions because we know the Truth. This is an important topic to cover. Thankyou for sharing these truths we are facing in these times. It is truly only In Christ that we are able to love others through our faith in Him, and not through the eyes of this world. I think the only way we can move forward is to repent, fast and develop our relationship by prayer in Trusting in Christ. There is nothing to fear or worry about when we cleve to Christ. He has a plan. The world offers many deceptive things that appear as a good, but what it doesn't offer is true love and our freedom which our souls desire. The bottomless pit is the digital world. The door has been open for years and as they now flood in and begin to wreak havoc, its time to abandon the digital light, the harbinger of sorrow.
It’s very much is the case of today, that if you see something on a screen, or hear it on a radio, or speaker, you can’t believe it. Only the things you see with your own eyes in real life will matter. We already live in a time where our science, media, and our authorities lie to us for their own ends. The next step in this will be digital ID’s so that we can authenticate the source of information, of course that won’t help with the content though, but it will lead to increased scrutiny and record of our lives, and therefore control over us. I tell you, the time to run into the forest is getting very close, and even then you’ll be marked as an outlaw and hunted. These are indeed dark days 😢

Father, I was hazed by a frat 5 years ago and about 7 months ago all the suppressed trauma from what happened became unmanageable. I was forced to do many things including eating disgusting foods in order to vomit over 100 times in a 3 day span, and not sleep for the 3 days as well. At the end we were drugged and I had a nervous breakdown. About a year and a half ago I came to Christ and Orthodoxy and watched most of not all of your videos. For the last 7 months my spiritual father has been visiting me at my house because I have been unable to leave my house. I have not been able to swallow solid food because of what happened and liquids are still difficult. I am in constant pain and it has been labeled as “Complex PTSD” by doctors. Please pray for me, this has been the most difficult time for me and my family who is struggling as well. Greetings from the west coast of Norway, where once my forefathers traveled to Iona and Holy Island Lindisfarne, starting the Viking Age. I can trace the roots of my family back to the first written sources here in Norway, so it's not at all unlikely that some of my forefather might have traveled to the deeply Christian lands of Ireland and Britain back then, to spread fear, bloodshed, pagan beliefs, slavery, rape, theft and so on... So you have no idea how much it means to me to see a monk speaking to me from across the North Sea about The Way of Christ Jesus. And it also say's a lot that there's no more vikings left, no more heathen religion here, but you are there. So God bless you so much. I hope this inspire you at Iona too, amen. I had a very bad problem hating women and indulging in lust. A former adult actress was giving her conversion testimony on a show that I was showing my then girlfriend at the time who was an aspiring one as well to try to convert her.
During seasons of bitter "backsliding" I never researched certain material, namely the woman giving a testimony and I later fell in love with a very similar woman later in life, and it taught me to hate the works of asmodeus.
I have a very hard problem not being humble and scattering sheep more than gathering and being a hair trigger angry person.
It's almost like strife comes to find me and I erupt in very horrible ways, even after trying to pray, worship, and edify others.
I'm so afraid God is going to humble me morbidly.
My mother died early, Iill, and alone.

I'm begging God to rather "take me out" in i.e: a robbery or a deadly self defense encounter.
It's pretty feasible for my lifestyle, occupation wherabouts, and itinerary.
It seems like God won't answer my prayers.

I also worry a lot about the coming times. I’ve prayed and asked God for discernment my whole life, and He has given it to me. The hardest part for me will be seeing some people I love fall to sin, or falling into deception. You can lead a horse to water, but you cannot force it to drink.
I am a worse sinner than you, my dear one. I actually am afraid for my own salvation, because I know how difficult it will be to live without trusting my own eyes, my own logic, my own discernment. We shall have to empty ourselves of our own senses and fully abandon ourselves to Christ and His shepherds. This sounds easy, but - as one who has tried to live under obedience for the last two decades of my life - I know how painfully difficult this will be for most people (myself more than all)

The danger from AI, as such, is the human reality, NOT the creation of Terminator-like killer robots that decide to enslave or exterminate humanity. What PEOPLE do with AI is where the danger comes from, not the machines rising up to overthrow humanity.
In The Lord of the Rings, the wizard Saruman fell because he was using a magical object, a Palantir seeing stone, beyond his ability to make. Someone with deeper abilities was able to manipulate him and turn him to evil. We use social media but we are not able to create it, ourselves. We are open to the manipulation of others, and even when there's just a mistake in an algorithm, we are hit with the mistakes and we don't know what's going on.

Father, please bless. My dissertation topic was on Deep Learning, an adjacent of AI (specifically, my research is in Compressive Sensing). The issue is far more concerning than you think. AI has been here since the 1960s. The technology to run what we have has been here at least for one decade, probably for two. What have these programs been doing "privately?" What fake images and videos have we ALREADY believed in years past? That's what scares me, Father.
Now that this problem has (oddly) been foisted upon all of us, I worry about when we will ABSOLVE accountable people for REAL photographic evidence. For instance, let's say a murderer is caught on tape doing his killing but his defensive team highlights where AI had a chance to have been applied to frame his defendant in the chain of evidential handling, letting a murderer go on the streets. However, experts may be able to run programs and other analyses on the more crude forms of these images and determine their reality or unreality, but that means we need to trust the experts and their methodology - a trust that has been recently broken in the deepest way in the history of science.
But most of all, I am worried about **how we are all worried.** This is why this has suddenly been unleashed on us by mysterious companies without solutions. We are going to accept many state controls, Father, state controls we would not have accepted otherwise. These laws will establish ministries of truth that "examine" photo and video evidence, leaving their methods internal. These departments will be accepted to assuage our fears just as the fake Anthrax attacks in 2001 caused us to accept the Patriot Act, DHS and Iraqi War without question. Where has that led us? To millions of deaths overseas and to a Department of Homeland Security that has now turned on its own people for political "crimes." Imagine what such a new "Department of AI and Deepfakes" can do! The damage is incalculable.
I just saw a short film where they put Bluetooth in paralyzed patient and connected it to his brain and spine. He can now walk . But , like you said , this same technology could be used for terrible things also . The line can be blurred depending on how it's used . Their is no getting rid of AI . We kust have to work on ourselves at this point and keep Faith .

It feels as if the only way to survive this coming age, dear Anju, is to make ourselves blind not only to what the world throws at us, but also to our own senses. We shall no longer be able to trust our own eyes, our own logical thinking. It is frightening and the only way to move forward is to behave like a terrified child walking through a haunted house: we need to keep our eyes closed and hold the hand of our bishops.

Father Seraphim, I just wanted to thank you for all that you do! One of your videos came up on my feed about a year ago in the midst of my newfound zeal for our sweetest Lord Jesus Christ.
In that same time frame, i had come to the realization that i, a cradle Orthodox, truly knew little about our beautiful Orthodox faith. Thus, I began to do research and dive deep into Orthodoxy. That research caused me to have many questions. I did not have a spirital Father at the time, and as of the writing of this comment, I still have not found one.

I am applying to the Diaconte. A couple of the canonical requirements are concerning to me. I do not have a perfectly squeaky clean record. Nothing serious but I am worried that I may be judged. Also my wife was previously married and through no fault of her own got thrown into a difficult circumstance. I’m currently a sub deacon at my church. About a year and a half ago it was made very clear to me by the Holy Spirit that there has never been such a time that prayer is needed so urgently as it is in the current times. I was told to pray and pray hard.
It startled me, because at the time, my life was going along very nicely and without upheaval. It still is today.
But something wicked this way comes. Global events and the information presented in this video make this very clear.
I think paralyzing evil is waiting on the other side of these technological "advances". The state of our world is determined by the state of our consciousness. What will human consciousness be like when it is attached to a computer? We already have great challenges concerning our connection to the divine and our inner self.

Peace be with you Fr Seraphim. Since September last year I have embarked on the journey from Protestantism (of 49yrs) to the Orthodox way, needless to say it's been a very turbulent repentance. Since watching discrediting footage of Holy fire foul play it's like the demon assigned to my testing has been given extra large hammer & chisel to chip away at the new faith God has blessed me with. I accept I'm yet still a little dog scrambling for crumbs from the Master's table but if the Elect shall be deceived (if possible) then to whom (on earth) to I cling for guidance in this time of necessary delusion? My prayers ring if blasphemy to my ears, I'm even ashamed to address the blessed Mother the Holy Theotokos, for protection as I know what I am. My heart is as dry as my eyes even though the weight of my sin suffocates me constantly. Even my beautiful wife pushes her (formally 'our') ecumenistic idealism when I refer to the authority of the church concerning my need to total surrender lest I suffer dissipation from the true Incarnate Word. At nearly 50, with a life of running from truth through substance abuse, of what value is this old dog of no tricks to the blessed Bride of Christ? I'm tormented by the love for truth, and I gravely fear that deception will grip those around me through & because of my lack of faith. How can an outsider (me) navigate to Christ amidst all this crazy, why the harder I seek Him lands me further than ever? I am worse than St Moses, more depraved than St Mary, more sins to confess than words in the entire English language, what do I do when even my repentance seems to insult the Holy Bridegroom Jesus? First off nice to see you here, saw you in the comments on Fr. Mikhail's videos. I think all one can really say to your question is that if it's hard and painful then you're likely on the right path.
I don't think there's anything inherently wrong with love for truth but don't try to chase it at any cost. As you pray and gain discernment it will be easier to spot what is wrong. From experience I can recommend taking Holy Communion as often as possible with the same humility you have shown in that comment, always reading the prayers before and after, at least 2-3 times a week. Remember, seek and you will find, knock and the door will be opened for you, it's really that simple. Blind trust only belongs to One, you don't need to worry about blindly trusting anyone else.
Also if you feel like your prayers are unclean, simply cling to the prayers of the saints. The wealth and safety of the church is in its tradition.

Great message. I’m an Italian catholic. I would say that, throughout history, many saints have also not been able to be recognized and accepted because of other problems - i.e. illnesses that have now been cured, but, more importantly, all the REAL saints whom the Church never had the chance to know or to publicly recognize. Without a human spark, although it can trick many superficially. I believe that tools are being developed to counteract this like a new arms race. That being said of course, I understand the point of this beautiful video to inspire us to humility and caution in all things. To be honest, dear one, I genuinely take very little interest in the topic of AI per se. I am aware that the vast majority of its applications (positive and negative) will affect our lives here, but what concerns me is the impact it will have on our spiritual life and implicitly, on our salvation.

You make some very good points Father about the two-edged sword that is technology, it can be very useful but also very destructive especially when linked to uncontrolled passions. The need to be watchful about ourselves is becoming even more important in these times for ourselves and our communities.
God has Control of A.I. if we Use it to Glorify Him. We must use it as a Tool of Christ and learn to Pray for everyone and learn to accept everyone regardless of opinions because we know the Truth. Even our Passions and opinions can become tools to witness. Love the Maker not the tools, Love The People like Christ did. Sacrifice oneself to achieve God's personal duty and calling for you. Let not Your Heart Be Troubled but Stand Steadfast in The Faith of His Promise! Amen!

It is truly only In Christ that we are able to love others through our faith in Him, and not through the eyes of this world. I think the only way we can move forward is to repent, fast and develop our relationship by prayer in Trusting in Christ. There is nothing to fear or worry about when we cleve to Christ. He has a plan. The world offers many deceptive things that appear as a good, but what it doesn't offer is true love and our freedom which our souls desire. It’s very much is the case of today, that if you see something on a screen, or hear it on a radio, or speaker, you can’t believe it.
Only the things you see with your own eyes in real life will matter.
We already live in a time where our science, media, and our authorities lie to us for their own ends.
The next step in this will be digital ID’s so that we can authenticate the source of information, of course that won’t help with the content though, but it will lead to increased scrutiny and record of our lives, and therefore control over us.
I tell you, the time to run into the forest is getting very close, and even then you’ll be marked as an outlaw and hunted.
These are indeed dark days 😢
