I used to throw the V3 also but it would do me about this bad as well, and so I stopped. I like dice-setting but believe there's ideal sets for throwing from certain parts of the table. V3 was never that good from the far end unless I was in a corner.

I need to know the relative humidity level of the casino I’m in and wether I am above or below sea level and by how much, obviously, before I can determine the dice set and release point when the shooter. Much like a gun range, there are a variety of factors to account for when sighting in a weapon

he is not a dice controller, just a shooter. the hard way set would help him a lot but... he is using the V-3 set which is good to use IF YOUR ON POINT which he is not.
