Plays the major chords on himself and the minor chords on his shadow. Says alot. This is special talent. Keep dancing your human dance. More Killswitch!!!!!!!!!!!
Has the light on in his face for himself and the shadow on his face for the shadow. The operatic vocal part at the start is also a mixture of major and minor.
Sadly or maybe thankfully Ren is back in the hospital. I suffer from alot of the same issues as him. Auto immune disorder from lyme disease and severe depression. Hopefully he gets better soon.
I saw this as a conversation between his ego and his shadow at the end of the video he combines the best qualities of both to be a more complete human being. He is the modern-day musical Minstrel poet!🌿💔
I have watched this so many times and it’s amazing the amount of obvious talent he has. One thing I found very impressive as well is I could easily understand every word he said.
His health issues are real, he's actually in Canada now going through treatment, he has a TH-cam channel where he updated his struggles that he is going through.
Finding Ren reminds me of when I found Bo Burnham. A self aware performance artist. I am not comparing their styles, just the talent and art as a complete performance piece.
2 things to say. At the end of December, will we be looking back on this as the moment that the biggest new star of the music World first came to our attention ? Well , if we find someone better, we can count ourselves very lucky indeed. Second... Isn't it amazing that someone so good can be hiding in plain sight for so long ? Check back on his solo work, his amazing street performances with Sam Tomkins, his band The Big Push... They're ALL next level , with millions of views, and yet most of us hadn't heard of him until a few weeks ago.
I'm not surprised it was hard to find him. The music industry truly is an industry these days...with plenty of power and money to make people like what they want them to like.😥
@@corylyonsmusic This is true. But it's just as true to say that there is actually way more music out there today than ever before. We have the ability to record and mix at home without paying for studios and engineers. Thank you for reacting to this video. I’m a 54 year old woman. I can’t get enough of this song. I too struggle with those inner demons and voices that crush my spirit. He’s inspirational. The courage it took to show his vulnerability is sometimes overlooked. He needs help. He’s suffering today with his illness and needs treatment. He has a Go Fund Me page and I think the link is on his channel. He was very embarrassed and ashamed to reach out for help, but he’s received incredible support. He look definitely resembles Cillian Murphy from Peaky Blinders. He too is adorable 🥰. Good luck in all you do POLO. I enjoy your energy, your love for music and talent and let’s not forget your adorable also!❤
Samuel Perry-Falvey who filmed Hi Ren, clarifies the process in the comments section of Jonathan Hiller's (Filmmaker Reacts) reaction to the song. Live yes, not a one-take but a masterful piece of art nonetheless.
Welcome to Ren he’s a genius please delve into his music you won’t be disappointed he’s also a young man that is suffering from a terrible illness he’s just amazing
Ren has a varied and great catalogue. If you want him rapping i recommend The hunger, Genesis, Sickboi, loosing it (fisher rap retake) If you want singing then Chalk outlines, or any other of his teamups with Sam or Chincilla is a good choice. If you want onetake videos with great storytelling by a fantastic troubadour then his triology "he Tale of Jenny and Screech the full version" is a good choice :) Also his rap retake of right here right now, and What you want, and dam.. basically anything he has ever made is great :)
Listen, I discovered Ren through this video, and I went to check out more of his music. You ABSOLUTELY have to react to more, this dude is incredible. The Tale of Jenny and Screech (full) is a masterpiece work of art, from the lyricism to the performance level to the camerawork. Chalk Outlines (live) made me feel like I cut 20 onions at once. And dude can RAP rap. Sick Boi, Hunger, Genesis, Money Game Pt 2, his whole catalogue is fire. This dude 1000% needs to be blowing tf up right now.
This is only the second number I have heard from him. I am completely bowled over by skills playing and poetry . Please try "the story of Jenny and Screech in full with Violets tale." It's incredible story telling.
Pls do the ‘Full version - Trilogy’ of the ‘Tale of Jenny and Screech (w Vilolet’s Tale which is the last one - the ending)!!! if do you want to hear an even more incredible live theatrical musical ‘indie movie’ performance by Ren!! Pls do more Ren - and check out another intelligent musical theatrical genius named Tom MacDonald!!!

Late to the party but I'm so glad you reacted to this. Ren is a GENIUS. He’s unequalled and there’s nothing he can’t do. Classically trained guitarist, rapper, blues singer, R&B, reggae - phenomenal lyricist and visionary. Ren is so unique in everything, but in Hi Ren he truly takes us on a rollercoaster journey of his life, as he says, of autoimmunity, illness, and psychosis. “The voice that you hear when you loosen the noose on the rope,” among others hits me like a train. Many of us can sympathize with his pain and fighting off the darkness and the demons, and wanting to just give up. Many who suffer from Lyme Disease (so far an incurable disease) have. This hits home for me, as my son contracted Lyme Disease at the same age Ren did. Ren still suffers, as does my son. Many doctors don’t believe it exists or believe that it magically goes away. I’m grateful that he’s brought this hugely emerging and deadly disease to the forefront, and perhaps some have come upon him for insight and new scientific info. /rant This song, everything it entails, the performance, production, and direction - live, no less, is nothing short of miraculous. I remember watching and watching waiting and wondering when the hell is this masterpiece going to hit 1M. Here it is now with 26M and Ren with 1.32M followers. Everything he does is otherworldly. I’m a fan. 😉 Hopefully, one day, he'll be well enough to tour. Seeing him live would be a dream.
I've had that same conversation with my chatter about doctors and my meds. People think it's so easy to take meds. Literally having that condescending voice attacking you belittling you over constantly taking it. It's not always as easy as just taking the meds.
Yan Hui, Confucius's most outstanding student, once asked his master to describe the rules of Rén and Confucius replied, "One should see nothing improper, hear nothing improper, say nothing improper, do nothing improper." Confucius also defined Rén in the following way: "wishing to be established himself, seeks also to establish others; wishing to be enlarged himself, he seeks also to enlarge others." Another meaning of Rén is "not to do to others as you would not wish done to yourself."
I hope that you will continue to explore the Ren rabbit hole. There are several of us who have pretty much moved in but there's a lot unique twists to discover and corners to poke about in. When you add in all the wonderful musicians that Ren's worked with, it becomes a warren! Just a reminder for Ren fans- Ren has a premiere later today 2/2/2023. Check his community page for more information on the premiere for Ren - Bittersweet symphony (The Verve retake)
I love that you made that little joke at the end of his 'talk to the camera' part, it made me giggle as I had tears in my eyes because the last section of the performance always hits me hard. Nothing wrong with injecting a bit of humor against something so heavy. The first time I saw his haircut I said to myself, "What in the Peaky Blinders is this" lol.
The variation in styles he can go to is one thing that's stunned me about Ren, the variation from songs like Sick Boi and The Hunger compared to Chalk Outlines and Life Is Funny. I can go through 5 different genres just listening to Ren, and at least 2 of them are just Rens genres.
He raps like a beast too and makes his own beats , one take videos as you can see here, hes micced up. Top top artist. Generational! Welcome to the Ren train! And .....tells a wicked tale in the Tale of Jenny and Screech. It comes in three parts but there is a full three part video on YT. Serious stuff but done so very well.
Ren was in a band called "The Big Push". You should look them up. Imagine four guys just as talented a Ren. They're super fun, like a super-talented party band.
Amazingly, he doesn't chase numbers either!FWIW, I reckon that section was a bit of a riff on the Mark Twain quote (paraphrasing Benjamin Disraeli) that "There are lies, damned lies, and statistics".
Love this kid!! And I’m a 56 year old woman lol But dang I am just addicted now lol Some of his stuff is strange but if you listen in order you start to understand better

Ren embodies this idea. He plays in the streams and creeks giving us gems that only shine for us and no one else. Cheers;)
For future reference Ren doesn't copyright strike so you don't have to worry about demonstration. His trilogy is amazing you gotta do jennys tale, screeches tale, and violets tale. There is a full version and I recommend you do them all at once.

This guy is amazing! You gotta do the Tale of Jenny and Screech (full) next!
In that order!
Ren put out a full version with all 3 in one vid!
Yes, do the trilogy
@@odunandrews thats why he wrote (FULL) that video has the three vids in order lol

You got RENED excellent. Great reaction. Love it.
I discovered this song a week ago and I can't stop listening to it!
I have had the privilege of listening and watching Ren several years. I'm a daily benefactor of his talents so I can totally relate 🌿💔
Great reaction. I have been watching Ren busking in Brighton (UK) for seven years and he is never less than captivating. Enjoy your Ren journey!
Oh just finished listening to this react as well. This is an amazing song. Thanks for expanding my horizon in music.
Just saw this video yesterday. I was captivated
Ive been waiting on you to get to this!!! Money Game 1& 2 are really good. He has alot of great music!
The Hunger too
I saw this as a conversation between his ego and his shadow at the end of the video he combines the best qualities of both to be a more complete human being. He is the modern-day musical Minstrel poet!🌿💔
YEESSSS!!! Been waiting for this one from you!
Glad you got to this one brother!

I heard this song for the first time a week ago and the the first thought that came to my mind was that I couldn’t wait to see your reaction to it.
I called it in a reaction a few weeks ago. I said I see a Ren reaction coming within 2 weeks. Jenny and Screech next!
I've been patiently waiting for Polo to react to this. I can't wait

Really struck me as a positive PSA on mental health and finding balance as the beings we are on this spinning rock...
Really enjoyed it xo

Awesome bro was waiting for this !! Thank you! Check out his latest "Sick Boi" please. He needs exposure to get him out there no big label behind him.
That’s something special. I’ve seen this a few times now and each time it affects me in a different way. Ren is a very unique special artist.
Kudos to this dude for believing in himself and figuring life out. No doubt he has a beautiful talent! He hit it with this one.
Be sure to check out "bittersweet symphony" he dropped today I think. It's incredible also.

Now do the London Tales trilogy of his (Jenny, Screech, Violet)
I hope his treatments in Canada are going well.

Fully expected you to turn around and look at 9:59
Loved this so fucking much!
Modern day bard..
The full version for the tale of Jenny and screech including Violet's tale
Very nice... Tale of Jenny and screech full next please. Ren is awesome there. Full on bard mode.
He reacted to that before this song. He was not impressed 😞
🔥❤️🔥
if you wanna check out his rap skills, checkout The Hunger!
And after the tale of jenny and screech. (Full) Then Chalk outline.
Check out Ren's track "Losing it" 💯🔥 it's hip hop on steroids
You NEED to check out Sleep Token, Summoning Song. It is right up your alley!!
Jesus loves you ❤️

Loved your Phil Collins reaction videos. Would love to see you react to Phil Collins "I wish it would rain down" music video.
The only song I’ve ever heard with such a folksy, picking style was “Black Soul Choir” by 16 Horsepower.
Always love the Tool, but for your playlist, please ck out Ted Nugent, the Nuge, Stranglehold, live, your welcome
