Thank you sooo much for sharing this wonderful songs! I have been looking for beginner friendly ukulele songs and don't really like the modern pop songs that are often featured. But these songs are so beautiful! Thank you and best wishes from Switzerland
Hi Zanifer. I have been to Trinidad. I stayed in Port of Spain, but got down to San Fernando, too. I used to play pan, and directed the northernmost steel band in the world. I met Boogsie and Liam Teague. I went to so many Calypso tents and spent Carnival with Crazy. Memorable!!! I have corresponded with a ukulele player in Trinidad. He mostly plays chord melody.
Feeling Groovy is such a lovely song. Unlike all of the others thus far, whilst not difficult in itself to play, I have to really concentrate to keep the flow from verse to chorus to verse going so that I do not get either behind or ahead of myself (or behind/ahead of you!).
Love your tutorials and selections. I am learning along (chords, strumming & singing) however my need is for the actual music notation of the melody since many of the songs I am not really familiar with in their entirety. Being a pianist, I am not a confident singer with just chords unless it is a folk song I remember well from years ago. What uke song book do you recommend that supplies the chord tabs plus a melody line?
Yesterday I went to purchase a Ukulele, and unlike the guitars, there were only ten to pick from! The online music store had hundreds to choose from, and I decided that besides the price, I wanted to know what to buy. Should it be a Concreto, a soprano, or a tenor? I decided against a baritone or a Ukulele that sounds like a banjo.
I play a concert, it works really well with my hand and body size. My husband prefers the tenor, but he will play my concert from time to time with no problems. Many of the pros play a tenor size. I really recommend that you go back to the music store armed with a few chords in mind, like C F and G7 and see what feels right for you. If you are buying online I have had really good experiences with Hricane, Donner, Kmise, and Fender ukuleles. The first 3 can be purchased for under $100, Fenders are more pricey, but not too much. My favorite ukulele is a Martin - CK1 ($500) with my next favorite a Kala acoustic electric ($325?) with a cutaway body. Both are Koa wood.
@@TheUkuleleFool I shall look for the Martin CK1. Money isn’t a problem. I want the sound to be good. I am not sure I want an electric. I learned the guitar and hope some knowledge transfer. Thank you for the info.
