    For a youth orchestra, it's blown me away. I was expecting it to be flat, dull and no emphasis on key areas.
    But damnnnnn! That's movie quality. First youth orchestra I've seen play like pros. Amazing!

    Unlike the others, the drum is played per beat. It's quite disturbing.

    I can't wait to play this at my school's final concert. it's crazy how in the thick of playing it you don't realize that this song is 12 minutes long.

  • @MarkWick
    @MarkWick 3 ปีที่แล้ว +23

    Well done. This piece led off the first concert I played in after a 47 year break from playing trumpet.

    • @huangreymin6162

      What encouraged you to return to trumpet after so long?

    • @MarkWick
      @MarkWick 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@huangreymin6162 Nothing other than I really, really missed playing music. I boughtca very inexpensive pocked trumpet to see if I could still play, and if I really could play decently again. I found both answers to be yes. Eleven months and many hours of playing later, and with a regular trumpet to play, I joined a community orchestra and a city band in the same week. I have since gotten another, better, trumpet and a flugelhorn.

    • @huangreymin6162
      @huangreymin6162 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@MarkWick I'm really glad you've managed to not only rediscover your enjoyment in music, but also be able to completely return to your roots and play a marvelous, (And exhausting piece ) despite being away for so long. Now I come from a completely different generation, but I'm certain you had a blast to play this, especially at 5:28 where you can literally blast the audience right off their feet. I certainly did with my high school's Symphony Orchestra last month despite COVID-19, playing the violin and thoroughly enjoying all of its expressions, emotions and varied themes and melodies. In particular 4:41, with the Angel of Music's theme is just a gift to play. Always do what you enjoy.

    • @MarkWick
      @MarkWick 3 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@huangreymin6162 I felt it was extra special to play this music because my sin also decided to play trumpet when he reached middle school, so I gave him the one I had used in high school. When he was a junior, he was chosen to be the band Drum Major. The band's big show for the State Fair competition was a special arrangement of music from Phantom. In addition to his duties as Drum Major, he also had four trumpet solos, the first three in his Drum Major uniform, the fourth, as the Phantom, atop a float of a pipe organ, playing the final notes of "Music of the Night." He and the whole band performed flawlessly and the entire audience of thousands went absolutely wild. I later took him to two different live touring productions of the show.
