    I think talent is like ABV in wine. It's only 15% or so but without it you won't have wine. Sometimes you can't help but feel sorry for those kids who are willing to put in all the 80%, but just a bit short on the 20%, and then frustrated at those that may have the 20% but we never really know because they never put in the 80%.

      Agreed, for me I think some higher level of eye hand coordination is a must, some people just don't have that.

      I agree, although in certain situations (where you know the opponent is far superior, and a heavy loss is expected), it's a little easier to be good natured about it. That said, Winston seems like a super nice guy, and I'm glad that his videos seem to be bringing him some success (he got all that Solinco stuff, right?)

    Winston your footwork has improved a lot....especially the quick steps preparing to hit the ball. There's a lot less lunging. Well done. When I play someone drastically better than me I just rip the ball on returns and go for big serves. You just cannot win games if you let them get into points. Once the rally starts you're dead.

      yes making some decent serves that day but i feel you could go more in front with the toss - seems like you are jammed. Try tossing in a way you can lean more into the court naturally and you can hit more in front - i have a feeling it should give you more power and margin as well and could maybe also be a quick fix. Try aiming first in a dry run without the ball just to see where the ball hitting zone for the toss may be - anyways good stuff - keep it up!@@WinstonDu

    Great match, both you guys. First, Neils, out there with nothing to gain, and even winning 8-1 would have been a total loss-- obviously, there's a reason you're doing so well. And Winston-- Man, that guy hits hard. And you almost gutted one out-- a real achievement just coming that close.
    And, as always, super entertaining. And interesting to actually see the difference between two players who look pretty close in isolation.

    You may or may not be aware but rewatch ur split steps when receiving. For example at 9:29, you are split stepping multiple times, which actually causes you to get aced. You do a second split step and the balls already by you. Focus on one split step at the point of contact. I know it is good to be light on your toes, but when facing fast servers like Niels, mistiming your split step can cause delayed reactions like this one. One split step that allows you to spring towards the direction of the serve is better.

    Great match! Niels was really effective at keeping his shots deep and penetrating and he stepped into every ball you hit at him. You played well considering that he took time away from you and often put you in a spot that was difficult to setup a good return. When you had time to set up, your shots looked really good. I'm sure there was a lot of mental pressure during the match. I was rooting for you when you guys got into that long deuce shoot out! :) Love your content!

    Great video Winston, good to see Niels again, very high level from both of you. Solid serving Winston. My coach keeps telling me to keep both feet on the ground and push through the ball, sometimes especially on backhand I move backwards. I think Niels’ balls came at u really fast and sometimes it pushed you back which might give less accuracy / power as you were saying that pressure to hit deep is easier if u move forward

    I think natural talent is the biggest in serving. Arm talent is a real thing. Like in baseball, hard work won’t get you to throw 95mph. If it did, a lot more guys would be pitchers in the big leagues.

    • @hsy2448
      @hsy2448 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      I think it is when you try to hit 140 mph serves, like equiv to 95+ fastball, but getting to 120 is technique and strength, but not so much talent is needed.

    • @TenisAmador
      @TenisAmador 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

      Everybody can serve 120. If you leanred young and have the mechanics down, basically everybody can serve 120-125. Now, obviously, if you learned tennis as an adult and is not the best coordinated person, you won't be serving like that.

    Niels is much more calm when needed, especially when he has to brake and turning backward for a defensive slice or lob. You still got a bit rush when trying to finish the point, especially the penalty forehand close to the net, I guessed that you wanted to get a point from him so bad that it has affected your style. Just stay calm and stick to your style, don't afraid of long rallies, maybe lower your power a bit and go for some more spin crosscourt like Niels did, your power is good but the placement just not there.

    6-7 or 8 deuces.. the score looked bad but I think Winston played way better than the score indicated. The kid as good as he is, made too many unforced errors especially from the back hand side. His balls are flat and barely clear the net. He might want to work on getting more net clearance with more spin. Winston mentioned training regiments. He plays down his abilities and fitness, but he must be in excellent shape to be able to go the distance especially after that long game.
