I made a silly mistake on the slope the first time through which was picked up by one of the viewers. I was able to make a simple edit and re-upload. Sorry for the confusion.
hi, sorry, can someone explain why 13 was added to the data set? i thought the median was 5.5 because 2 appeared twice so you took out one of them. so then it becomes 2, 3, 5, 6, 8, 9. idk why you’d add 13, so i ended up getting the wrong answer for range (7 instead of 11).
I'm curious. You state that in HS kids can really start to evaluate the data and decide how good it is. But using box plots, students can start that level of scrutiny of their data starting in 6th grade (CCSS-m places box plots in grade 6). Is there any reason why you might not engage middle school students in the evaluation of their data? Or is this based purely upon the coherence as described in the Framework for Science Education? Thanks! These videos are REALLY helpful!
