    I'm a former US Navy sailor, served from '04 to '08, and qualled for the M-14 when I got to my command. Had you looked in our armory you would have thought we'd had a time machine it something as, other than our Berettas, everything else was old. We had the aforementioned M-14's, including one full auto version, M-60 machine guns, and M-79 grenade launchers. I shot better with the M-14 than I did the M-16 and would love to get my hands on one as a civilian.

I fired an M14 on Auto once, it really could have used a break like the one on the K model. Within 5 rounds, that M14 was vertical and it has a really fast cyclic rate of fire. Ron always had this one at the gun shows trying to gin up sale for them. But since he wanted about $3000 for one back in 94',...well that's why they didn't sell. Col North was a volunteer scapegoat for Reagan and Bush they pissed on the constitution and the law. The congress outlawed funding and supplying weapons and material support to the Contras but Reagan and the CIA didn’t stop. They had North run the operation out of the White House that included arms sales with Iran another arms sale violation, but for the end result when it was uncovered the fall out was far ranging but here we go.
      Saddam Hassan went nuts when he found out that we were supplying both sides of the Iran Iraq war with missiles and intelligence, he sent a Mirage F1 with Exocet anti ship missiles out over the Persian Gulf attacking the USS Stark with 2 Eocet missiles the first penetrated the hull but didn’t explode the second hit the ship in about the same area penetrated the ship and exploded in the crew quarters killing 37 wounding 21, but it did stop there later a gun shy USS Vincennes shoots down a Iranian commercial Airbus A33 Iran Air Flight 655 killing 290 they mistakenly took it for a Iranian F14 Tomcat, but it didn’t stop there an outraged Iran contacted Libya to bomb Pan Am 103 that exploded over Lockerbie Scotland killing 259 on the plane and 12 on the ground.
      That is the chain of events that your hero Col North unleashed by being a good little Marine following the orders of his commander and chief while crapping on the law, the constitution and the oath he swore over 600 people died including his fellow servicemen. Oh and by the way the reason congress cut off all funding to the Contras was they were brutally killing innocent civilians the last strew was killing American nuns then blaming it on the Sandinistas. They were really stupid to continue to kill civilians while being investigated by a congressional committee but then kill a group of American nuns then try and gram the enemy was just plain nuts, they threatened the villagers but that didn’t work they all ratted them out they were tired of being killed by them.
      So much for your hero worship.

      Oh and I didn’t even cover Col North’s obstruction of justice, destroying documents and lying to investigators. It was his you’ve hot secretary Fawn Hall that decided a centerfold was better than a prison cell that talked about the shredding all nighters, everyone wanted a Ollie North shredder they were the best 😂.

    I saw a similar weapon about 10 years ago. Built with a M-60 gas system on a M-1A rifle also with a 13 inch barrel, but with a modified wood butt stock. Made me want one. Apparently, most of the powder of a 7.62×51/.308 is burnt in the first 12 inches of the barrel, so muzzle blast/flash is minimal.

    Nice video. I have a LaFrance M14K Transferable machinegun. I collect transferable machineguns, but most specifically LaFrance guns. He did a lot of unique guns such a the two gas /porttube M16K and the M14K with a M60 gas system. LaFrance and SEI were the only two SOT-07s that made transferable M14k's that I am aware of.

    • @hollywoodquiet
      @hollywoodquiet ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Tim LaFrance (LaFrance Specialties) also offered both the M16K and M14K in semi auto versions. They are as rare as the full auto ones, but when you do come across one once every 3-5yrs, they are still about 7K for the MK14 and 10K for the M16K. FA equivalents are about 25K and 40K respectively.

    This thing was probably designed to be more of secondary marksman's rifle for those using short range firearms like pistols, shotguns or SMGs in CQC. For a long time, nobody had the answer for this. A lot of guys relied on a .44 or .357 as a backup pocket sniper. I personally carried an M1 Carbine, Mare's Leg and shortened 8mm Mauser for this reason.
