Lol, you guys don’t get enough credit. You guys have perhaps the most physical job in the band. You guys literally run around and toss and twirl stuff for the whole show. There’s no way it’s easy.
If he didn't catch any of those high rifle tosses, there would be broken bones. My aunt and I are in color guard and she broke her thumb by using her rifle. This stuff isn't a joke. This is really hard when you're really a beginner or advanced. No rude feeling's
The_Ghost _Phantom Yep. Threw a high one last week (it was near a quad I didn’t really count), and the rifle started twisting in the air and my hardheaded self tried to still catch it, missed and near broke my finger in the process.
i’m a small high school boy on color guard and i’m aspiring to be apart of DCI, and watching this shows me that i’ve got so much left to learn, but i’m so inspired and moved by the performance that i can’t wait to push myself as hard as i can to be like this one day !! :-) amazing performance ! absolutely fell in love with your skill !
our band doesn’t have a color guard, so the flutes (that’s what i play) and the clarinets are taking it on. after trying to twirl flags i’ve gained even more respect for these amazing people! good job everyone who does this
Mrs. Normal I’m just trying to get to a triple I started rifle this year and my guard focuses mostly on flag and never does Sabre. I’m so excited since I have the opportunity to learn more in an open class drum Corp this year.
Jasmine Wang good luck!! i just started rifle last marching season, and i couldn't get my triple for the longest time haha. but now i'm on 6s with a ton of practice. you got it!
I started doing drum corps as a brass player thirty years ago and I STILL don't know how the hell color guard does their show. Great vid, thanks for the upload.
wow, this is great. Congrats on your win! Even a person like you who is in great shape is getting out of breath. What you do is so athletic - wonderful work.
Well in my marching show there were a lot of band members in guard so in the halfway point we would switch for marching to colorguard so i was a two in one
Jrotc colorguards are inherintly different from marching and colorguards I believe. There's different styles of band, and jrotc usually have a Military-Style which is very non-artistic and all together rather than spread out along different sections doing different things. This reply is DEFINITELY late but anyone who is watching this later that sees your comment might also see this :)
Guard really blows my mind. I think all sections have a very important job but guard looks the most complex imo. I’m my experience with marching band the woodwinds/brass have visuals where we take a knee or fall down but we’d stop sometimes and hold a formation and the guard would most of the time still be moving; they look like they’re having so much fun with it too. I really appreciate guard because without y’all the show wouldn’t be complete.
I wanted to try out for dci when I graduate but i’m a freshman who marched 8th grade as well bc I was “capable”. Now i’m on rifle line and just got my quad, seeing these guys doing 8s? wow.
i’m not in color guard right now bc college and this video makes me miss it even more! can’t wait until i have my shit together and can do winter again.
This goes to show, for all who are going into marching band, there is no such thing as an easy spot. (Not even easier). Every spot is hard in it’s own way. -Hornline: Breathing, Marching, Volume -Drumline: Carrying a 40 Ib drum, Marching, Rudiments -Guard: Physical Activity from visuals -Pit: Memorization of chords and Electronic setup (and don’t forget, having the strength to roll things up and downhill).
When I was in band back in dino times, no boy would be caught dead doing color guard, even the gays. I thought it was kinda silly, cause boys would be able to throw so much higher. Glad to see times have changed.
Yes, yes they are...the skill you are watching took time and effort to develop. As mentioned they can cause injury and even after years of development still f#$%'n hurt. Within this context, they are called sabers, the white 2x4 looking things are rifles, and the lofty things on the end of the stick/dowel are flags. This particular unit you are watching have a long storied history of being one of the best at this.
I love how every one here sees the guards prospective and now have respect for us
lmao yeah
Exactly
I've always had respect for color guard. It seems just as difficult as every other section.
@@saltydalty7665 Always will be
Lol, you guys don’t get enough credit. You guys have perhaps the most physical job in the band. You guys literally run around and toss and twirl stuff for the whole show. There’s no way it’s easy.
1:35 was the most perfect thing I think I have ever seen
Caleb Niehoff I’m not in guard and I know that looks great
more like 3:35

This was really cool and I love color guard but I gotta say those people in the pillow cases really stole the show
I can feel the burning in my arm just from watching this oml. Throwing guard equipment is no joke.

Dammit Rey what do you play?
Madison Lawson he plays a horn

I wanna see a head cam of the guys in pillow cases in the beginning. XD

Keep with it bro! I’m currently a girl in my Junior year, and I would love to be in a DCI group or on a Guard team in College.
How you doing on that dream?
our band doesn’t have a color guard, so the flutes (that’s what i play) and the clarinets are taking it on. after trying to twirl flags i’ve gained even more respect for these amazing people! good job everyone who does this

Ikr??? Ugh I wish I could throw an 8. I'm stuck on 5s and cant get any higher. 😭😭
Mrs. Normal I’m just trying to get to a triple I started rifle this year and my guard focuses mostly on flag and never does Sabre. I’m so excited since I have the opportunity to learn more in an open class drum Corp this year.

Oh god I posted this comment two years ago.. it’s insane to think what I thought was so out of reach back then.. god I feel old now
I started doing drum corps as a brass player thirty years ago and I STILL don't know how the hell color guard does their show. Great vid, thanks for the upload.
muscle memory
We're magic. It takes water, muscle, squeezing, practice, and lots of arm and wrist strength.
@@naegabyeongjunhae831 There is no such thing as water in marching band at my highschool. Would you care to explain what it is? 🙃
earth bending
That rifle work tho😍😍😍😍. Everything about this show is just perfection.
Ohhh This is very cool. The sound of the rifle hitting your hands after a good throw....man so satisfying haha. I love seeing this view point.
Thanks for sharing. Never seen guard from this perspective. You all were amazing!
joephs to get
wow, this is great. Congrats on your win! Even a person like you who is in great shape is getting out of breath. What you do is so athletic - wonderful work.

I LOVE THIS SO MUCH, I WAS TELLING MY FRIEND A FEW YEARS AGO THAT I WANTED TO SEE A GUARD BODY CAM IM SCREAMINGGGGGGGG
That rifle line gives me chills... ❤️
Man, as these guys are throwing 8s im in my senior year of highschool still struggling to get a good 5 :/
Same but I'm a freshman and still cant get solid ones
With only about a year and a half of experience, I’m just now getting out a decent 3. I’m also just starting Sabre. I just wish I started earlier.
I’m currently a freshman and I’m struggling on doing a sit roll under a 6🥲🔫 but I do be tossing really good 6s
i feel yall im 5 years old and I still can't get my triple turn under my 23 😩🤧
@@alyssaallen470 same here 😭
Respect man. I’m in the band (flute) and I’ve always admired colour guard. This gave me a whole new level of appreciation!
6:51 ONWARD, THAT FLAG FEATURE THOUGH all the counts, bEAUTIFUL- absolutely stunning! Everyone is in sync, it's gorgeous!
my favorite thing about watching head cams on guard is the funniest vocals they have for each other
Yay! Never seen a guard head cam! It was sooooo good! He caught tape so perfectly on that big sabre toss! Glorious!
damn i would've already hit myself in the face about 96,000 times. you guys are gods
do i spy a musical reference?
All those catches are solid and its so satisfying
The intentional exhales with the flag work... I felt that
I should show this to our jrotc colorguard cause they b saying we guards dont do that much cause we in a band.. like have u seen us? Lol..

dangggggggg you make it look easy hahahaaaaa
I watch this show religiously and I think it's bordering on unhealthy
The 8s 😍 I’m a sophomore and just got my 6!!! I hope to be on DCI one day oh my gosh that would be amazing
Now that people can hear the heavy breathing of the person doing all of this can we finally consider guard a sport please?!
i wish i could do DCI, but alas i am a woodwind player, and hate to learn new things.
emmalee b. Do winter guard and try to do color guard in dci maybe? Maybe take one year of marching color guard too so you can get used to wind?
Or just play brass. The woodwind players I knew in corps did well in upper baritone (or even contra).
emmalee b. Come on man you got it! I think it’s fun learning new I strumenta
I'm a tuba and flute player, trying guard this year. All about stepping out of your comfort zone!
update: after this years marching season, i'll be joining colorguard in the winter.
THIS SHOW IS SO POWERFUL I CAN FEEL ITT
This made me so dizzy yet I watched the whole thing
IVE BEEN LOOKING FOR ONE OF THESE VIDEOS FOR SO LONG!!! 😩😩👏🏾 thank you for this
I love being in color guard but now I'm doing winterguard for this season until marching band starts again❤️❤️❤️
real question is how the hell did u manage to film this without the cam falling off lmfao
This makes me nervous and a bit anxious lol. Unlike any of the other cams. Incredible job
wow. applause. interesting perspective!
3:34 Whoa...
This makes me so nostalgic for my marching and guard days... getting to see this from this perspective really made me happy!
THAT'S MY F-KING BOI! ILYSM ANTHONY
3:40 I don't know why but this make me laugh really hard. I'm in guard and you guys make it look easy. Great job :)
This was amazing, hope to be this good one day
I've seen this in so many perspectives
Every time I see this I always ask my self will I ever be that good 😂
this is an amazing performance and your rifle work is amazing
as somebody who has never actually seen a color guard head cam, holy hell these people puttin in the work

Wow quisiera pertenecer a ese grupo de Color Guard
Im still confused at how you guys can march and throw/spin those things so well
Repetition, muscle memory, and people yelling at us.
I’m curious about what was said that had to be censored out
Probably him swearing
Okay but the guy at 5:17 tho🥵
Love that little moment they're having at 8:54
