I start at Full Sail University October 28th 2024, Bachelors degree in Computer Science / Game Development. That MSI Raider is looking amazing and I can not wait to start this new education journey.
It is definitely worth the work. I just graduated on Halloween of 2024. Several days back. I'm currently looking to get into a career. My new GF has been super supportive, and I learned so much in school that TH-cam videos and google searches could not have pointed me in the right direction. Although with game dev, Google searches are important, but when you don't know what to search it becomes a bit of a headache trying to find the solutions. This program will help a lot with that. You will do amazing, and it is totally worth is. You got this!!
The best advice I can give is to always take your classes serious. If you have a class coming up that you don't know much about, do some research on it and try to get an idea of what you will be learning. This will help you stay on top and be able to get your assignments done in time. If you ever need any help, I'm willing to lend a hand. I have been blessed enought to keep my gpa up pretty high.
I honestly have no idea, I'm doing the online course. But I would say to definitely take a dictionary, plenty of notebooks and pencils. Tons to write down and try to remember.
Im wondering on how the online classes were and if it’s better to do online learning or campus learning. Also what program are you actually doing because there is both computer science and game development separate. But how are you taking both courses
The online courses were pretty demanding, I would spend anywhere between 5-15 hours a day doing schoolwork, depending on the class and assignment. And the degree is BS in computer science with a focus on Game Development. They recently changed it though, so now would be the best time to start since I had to take additional classes when they changed the degree programs 3 months before I was supposed to graduate, and tacked on an addition 9 months to graduate.
@ so would you even recommend doing online classes for full sail Ik it’s gonna be hard work to complete but is the information and knowledge worth all that effort
hi I'm on working on my 4th and 5th classes starting today, I was wondering when you got yours. I was told when i finish my 4th class but just wanted to make sure. I'm going in for computer science. Thanks in advance!
If I'm correct, you should be getting it withing the next few weeks. I'm pretty sure you will need it for your 6th month. I'm in computer science as well, what is your degree focused on? Game dev, cyber security...?
My degree is focus on cyber security! I'm on my third week of my 4th and 5th classes this week next week i am thinking that I will get my tracking numbers. I really hope so bc the MSI I am currently working on is very old lol She needs s few upgrades and I can't do that unless I have a backup. @@Gregomon
Greetings Gregomon, I'm just enrolling this week for Game Design, super excited but nervous since I'm new to the industry. Much appreciate your videos. How has your laptop and programs (unity? Unreal? What are you using?) worked for you? Good luck!
Hello Ometony. Everything is going great, the laptop is a beast, which is the one you will get, as well as the Ipad, but you'll be getting an hp reverb as well. I know this because I just switched to Game Design last month. Lol. So far, I haven't really been using any software other than Visual Studio, but it has been pretty helpful with the programming aspect. If I can lend any help in any way, feel free to reach out and I would be happy to help you out. I'm still riding a pretty high GPA at the moment.
about 2-3 weeks out from getting mine im excited to get going. Have to pass this calculus class next month first tho lol. I noticed u said you switched from game dev to game design, may i ask why?
Calculus is very fun if you like working with numbers. And the reason I switched from game dev to game design was because I had some health issues come up while taking programming 2, I failed the class twice in a row and it is a 2 strike class. I had one of 2 options, switch to another program, or be dropped from the degree program completely. I decided to switch. It's going good though. The classes aren't as difficult as they make them out to be. If you just pay attention and get your work done on time, you will be fine buddy. Thank you for watching. Much love and peace.
I honestly have no idea, the launch boxes are all different depending on the degree field you are going into. I'm so sorry I could not be of more help.
I am just finishing my first month (Creative Presentation). I am going for Game Art. Got out of Psychology of Play and English. Next month is TEM and I will get my Launch Box then, it will be the same as yours.
Oh, I just remembered, game art is Ipad, and macbook. I don't know which versions, but I heard the specs are... Whew. Lol. Should be able to handle whatever you will need them for.
Hey! I'm considering going back to school for a second BS degree in game development (I have a BS in poli sci, a law degree, and an MA in poli sci). I'm just trying to figure out to what degree returning is worth it and if it is, is Full Sail a good place. Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
I feel like full sail has been a great place. The workload increases the further you get into the degree, but it's manageable. The staff are great, as well as the classmates and support system.
It's an amazing program. It was a lot more challenging than I had anticipated, so I switched over to game design. You got this. Best of luck to you buddy.
Yes. First, I would say to brush up on your math skills as much as possible. Everything from algebra to calculus. Plus, look into discrete mathematics and physics as well. Then I would say to learn as much as possible about C# (C Sharp) console programming. Plus, look into learning a little about PHP, SQL, Java, and JavaScript. As you will be using all of them in one way or another. Plus, learn how to make videos and how to make presentations. There is a lot to the course, but if I can help you be prepared for it, hopefully, you will be more prepared than I was when jumping into the course. Plus, look into scholarships and grants. They will help you a lot. Also, if you do well, you can get into an honor society early in your education. Plus, I would also recommend looking into internships as soon as you reach your 4th month. I haven't gotten one yet, but it doesn't heart to practice applying early on. If you need any more information, please reach out to me at any time. I'm halfway to graduation now. Much love and peace and I congratulate you on taking that leap buddy.
Every other month you will get a box. The first box will be a starter kit depending on what your studying so it might be a tablet. Then the 4th month you will get the heavy hitter box like this laptop
@@fenixx9711 it has gone by pretty quickly for me . I applied September 26 and I got everything approved and now going through Orientation since Monday .

I believe game art comes with a MacBook pro and a different tablet, but I'm not sure.
Why do they send an iPad and a galaxy tab I just got my iPad I'm doing game development.
I'm not 100% sure why, but I think it has to do with testing when you get further into the degree, but I can't confirm that just yet.
How long did it take before you got your project lunchbox if i may ask
I got it at the beginning of my fourth month.
