  • We hosted Mohsen El-Sayed, Head of Community and Education Ledger, and his partner, for a My QT Experience at Pura Tirta Empul, Bali’s sacred water temple.
We arrived early in the morning so we could have the place all to ourselves. The sun’s gentle rays filtered through the towering trees, the air was crisp. Our local guide, Tunic, met us at the gate and welcomed us with a warm smile and the sarongs Mo and his partner would change into for the Melukat Ceremony.
A Melukat ceremony is a sacred Balinese Hindu ritual aimed at purifying the body and soul. Balinese Hindus believe that participating in this ritual helps to maintain a harmonious connection between the physical and spiritual worlds, promoting overall well-being and balance.
Mo and his partner were deeply moved by this immersive encounter. Engaging in cultural tourism activities like this is an opportunity to connect directly with local communities, to learn from them, and to support their invaluable traditions. It’s a reminder that travel goes beyond seeing places; it’s about experiencing the heart and soul of a destination.
