I'm sure Drew has good intentions but just to clarify something. Karbala is not the Mecca for Shia Muslims, Mecca is the mecca for Shia Muslims. After Mecca and Medina the shirines in Najaf and Karbala are the holiest sites in Shia Islam. Point being after Mecca and Medina. Keep up the good work Drew! Loving the Iraq content!

Iraq could have been one of the best countries in the world if we just had no wars, no bad governments (all of them for the past 50 years plus) and no western interventions.

Just to clarify some things mentioned in the video: 1. The Arbaeen Pilgrimage happens in a different time every year & not necessarily during October as Muslims follow the lunar calendar! 2. As other people said in their comments, Karbala isn't the holiest place for shia muslims (but ONE of the most holiest places); Mecca, Madina & Jerusalem are the top 3 holiest places for all different branches of islam! 3. Abbas isn't an Imam, but Hussain (his half brother) is one of the 12 Imams for shia muslims! Thank you Drew for another great video!

Iraqis are Arab, but Iranians, are much more Shi'a (as in, a greater proportion of Iran is Shi'a) and in looks and practice, Shi'a is a different religion from Sunni (the Sunnis would probably deny this, though). So the vibe is *very* different.

    • @jevandrocelo8769

@@danielgerber7422 First: Iraqis are Arabic speaking people, not Arabs, similar to levant but most of people think they are Arabs mostly due the racism and hate of westerners, I'll quote Wikipedia's page ( demographics of Iraq): "Studies indicate that the different ethno-religious groups of Iraq and Mesopotamia share significant similarities in genetics and that Iraqi Arabs, who make up the majority of Iraqis, are genetically DISTINCT from other Arab populations in the Arabs of the Arabian peninsula." in this page you can also see the references of these genealogical DNA studies.
second: Shia born in Iraq at the Rashidun caliphs and Iran adopt the Shia belief from Iraq after 5+ centuries from being a completely Sunni country, so this is the real place of Shia not Iran.
third: what the hell are you talking about, Shia and Sunni Muslims belong to the same religion but with little differences.
forth: stop the hate and ignorance Daniel boy and start to enlighten your mind with the real info's not the ones that white people wrote long ago, which are completely far from the reality.

I don't think many ethnologists will agree with you that Iraqis are not Arab. Arab is a broad group now which basically includes all Arabic-speaking people, with very different religions, skin colours, and physical environments. Iraq is a member of the Arab League, for example

BTW, for Shia Muslims Mecca, Medina and Al Quds and then Karbala are holy sites. Imam Hussein the grandson of Holy Prophet and his family and friends were killed by a criminal corrupt ruler called Yazid the son of Mawyia from the family of Ummayed. As someone who's Shia I would like to point out a few points, Shia Islam isn't different from Islam. Karbala is not "like Mecca" to us. Mecca is Mecca. Karbala is a very important site and I'm glad you had the opportunity to go there.
If I'm being honest, I wouldn't mind even if you had met me there and told me you were Jewish but I get that not everyone will share the same view and you just want to stay safe.
As far as the executive room goes, even me, who has been to Karbala had never known something like that existed. Loved this video!
You're lucky because Moharram is about to start in 20 days. You got to be there right before. You are living the life man! Wish you could be there when Moharram starts. You should definitely come back.
