    Wow! Thank you so much for making this video. I absolutely adore pearls and I have wanted to learn how to make them for the longest time. You’re so patient and clear on your instructions that even I got it. Oh, I almost forgot about my niece! She’s just a baby so I have a little while to learn how to do this properly. I believe all little girls should have a piece of jewelry that is classic and timeless. So, we’ll both have a beautiful piece of jewelry. I’m going to give her a pearl necklace, bracelet, and earrings for her sweet 16 birthday. I want hers to have the perfectly round pearls and I’ll make mine out of potato pearls. I’m probably gonna watch this video many times so I really get it!!

I really wanted to make two long strands without clasps in addition to fixing the multi strand necklaces which did have clasps. The Griffin silk beading cords with the needles attached have been great but can you recommend a spool of beading silk for longer necklaces? Thanks again!!

    I do realize this is a four year older video but I was wondering if you don't have that cement glue can you use super glue like Gorilla super glue to secure it at the ends. You can never go wrong with pearls, it will always be a classic. I made a strand for my daughter for her wedding and I used Czech pearls. So beautiful just like the bride lol. toodles debs from Texas

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      Super glue could be a good substitute here. We recommend the GS Hypo cement for securing knots because it has such a fine applicator tip that you can hide small dots of cement in plain sight. These knots will be hidden from view so you won't have to worry as much about excess glue or about the super glue frosting over and becoming noticeable. Just make sure to test whichever glue you use on a small sample of the silk thread so you know what to expect when you're finishing your piece.

  • @fancythatcookies

    can I use this thread for long glass pearls? or should I use beading wires? thanks

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  10 ปีที่แล้ว

      It depends on the hole size of the glass pearls. I think you will be okay but since I can't see what you have, I can't say for certain.

    thank you so much for this video.. i have a question. I have a total of 97 jade beads most between 7-9mm in size a few slightly bigger. I also have a total of 96 silver beads all measuring 7mm. my plan was to create this necklace using your technique here. I also have a cute owl pendant that i was going to place in it. I was thinking of putting those little crimp silver pieces on each side of the pendant to seperate it from the rest of the beads. Will the nylon string you linked in this video work for this? I've never made anything like, so i'm a complete n00b but i know my girlfriend will love this once i have it completed. :)

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Just to note, the cord mentioned in this video is silk cord. Silk cord will work, but other materials, such as nylon, may be a bit stronger. You can potentially even use plastic beading threads. We have a video on how to choose beading cord or thread here: th-cam.com/video/_rSB_6QywwA/w-d-xo.html
      Thanks for watching!

  • @tbkk100

    can you still do the project without tweezers and can you use a different kind of thread or string

    • @beadaholique
      @beadaholique  9 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      tbkk100 I find it easier to do the project with tweezers but I know it is possible to do this type of pearl knotting without them - it just takes lots and lots of practice. If you use a different type of thread or string, you will have to place a needle on it which will make it more difficult to pass through the pearls. Also, just make sure that it is strong enough to hold your pearls and hold a good knot.

    Can you make a knotted pearl necklace without a clasp using the traditional Japanese method... I don't mean make a video about it, but can it be done? I need to restring my mother's akoya pearl necklace that I bought her... my son broke it. But it doesn't have a clasp and so I need to fix it without a clasp.

    A better way is to put all the pearls on the silk, and then knot them. Takes much less time the one at a time as shown here. ;)

    aren't pearls and corals supposed to be banned in USA and Canada?

      These materials are not banned for sale, but their production is heavily regulated so that it does not cause harm to the species these materials come from. We currently do not sell any coral, but we have plenty of freshwater pearls in the following link: www.beadaholique.com/beads-pendants-charms/beads/pearls
      Thanks for watching!

    Therpaeutic grade natural stone bead necklaces DO NOT traditionally use metal anywhere (no clasp) as it interferes with the natural healing frequency. There are plastic clasps available now from China, which can remedy this, if you don’t want to hand knot all the way.

      Hi Taha, we do have a customer service team that you can call, 9am-5pm Pacific Time: 1-866-834-4618. They're be happy to answer any question, but unfortunately they're not able to place orders for customers over the phone, we're a small web-based business and we're only set-up for online orders. They will be able to tell you more about the pearls we offer though. The ones in the video are cultured freshwater pearls. So, real pearls made by real oysters in a pearl farm. You can see more of our cultured pearl selection here: beadaholique.com/collections/pearls?_=pf&pf_t_material=0-Materials%3ACultured%20Pearl
