  • The best food to cook during snowy days - Yakut pancakes or Alaaji!
    This dish is also used in our rituals - we always leave some pancakes for spirits.
    Ingredients:
    1 cup of milk
    1,5 cup of water
    2,5 cups of flour
    1 egg
    1 tbsp of sugar
    1 tsp of salt
    Mix milk, water, egg, salt and sugar. Little by little add wheat flour and stir well. Heat up vegetable oil in a pan and fry pancakes.
    If you want to do it 100% Yakut way, leave first 3, 5, 7 or any other odd number of pancakes on a separate plate. Then after you finish frying, leave the pancakes on the ground near your house to please spirits.
    Enjoy pancakes with heavy cream and any jam.
    Voila!

    Maria has a beautiful, unspoiled soul. This is a rare thing these days. Most people are either malicious or callous as a result of external malice. Thanks for sharing your open soul with the Internet and making it a tiny bit better

      Most people? I feel sorry for you if most people in your life are malicious or callous. Most people I know of are good honest people. And only a few people are malicious. And I’m sure this is the same worldwide. Just reading the comments on these videos, you can see that. I think your views are cynical.

    I love how every culture has a pancake of sorts. I'm going to try these. They seem to remind me of a yorkshire pudding. But yorkshire puddings are cooked in the oven and use more egg and we don't add sugar. Here in Scotland our pancakes are a bit different, they have a raising agent and we cook in less oil. But I am going to try these , they look really good and I look forward to sharing with my family. Hello from North Scotland!

      Aye I was going to compare it to a Yorkshire pudding. My gran told me as a child they make extra when they had a roast and her favourite pudding at the time was a Yorkshire pudding with butter and jam.
      Amazing to see essentially the same dish here prepared a little differently. Must try cooking this for my family some time soon what a treat.

    I love how share your Yakutia with us …. I live in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. It was a very cold winter here. Many days it was only 7 or 8 degrees Fahrenheit. I think it even went below zero a couple of times. … Then one evening I opened TH-cam and saw “How We Heat our House in Rural Siberia -44 degrees”. … I have been watching with awe and respect. I think it is more like Fışfış we made in Turkey. It is also very smilar to Lokma Tatlısı. Pişi (pishi) is with less oil and has more baking soda and pops up more I think still kinda smilar. But this is nearly same with Fışfış (Fishfish) except fışfış is soaked into lemon water sugar mix for a few hours before eaten.

    • @joshmcgregor4839

      @@ivandinsmore6217 Scotland isn't a Republic of the UK, Yakutia is governed by Russia, all decisions go back to moscow as it is a centralised government. Decisions such as funding and other things go back to Moscow. They have very limited power. Even Kazan doesn't even have proper autonomy anymore and that was given special status a while back, Moscow slowly reduced it step by step. Each region of Russia can decide one or two things with regards to education and maybe a law here and there but I wouldn't say different parts of Russia are their own country.

      @ivandinsmore6217 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@joshmcgregor4839 Even when Scotland was directly ruled from London and could decide nothing for themselves, it was still considered a country. Perhaps Yakutia doesn't think of themselves as a country. Maybe that's the difference.

    • @joshmcgregor4839
      @joshmcgregor4839 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ivandinsmore6217 completely wrong, Scotland gets to decide on funding, school systems own laws (much more freedom than any of the Russian Republics get to decide) even given referendums if they would like to leave the UK. Which they voted against. (I could never see Putin allowing such a thing) in fact Russia literally stopped/bullied it from leaving in the 90s when nationalism and exiting Russia was sky high. (makes sense due to the HUGE amount of resources and not to mention the biggest diamond mine in the world). If you think Scotland is remotely like yakutia, you're delusional.

Whenever we have too many apples that are about to go bad she'd cut them up, toss them into a batter and make little fritters. I love the idea of feeding the birds so they will carry the food to the spirits. It shows a respect and a reverence for Nature. In the UK we are fond of scones, a light pastry baked into tall-sided cakes, which we dress with clotted cream and strawberry jam just like you do with alaaji! There is always a light-hearted argument about whether we should apply the jam first or the cream. I'm firmly a cream first guy but my brother is contrary. I really enjoy your videos and I would love to visit Yakutia one day.

    Hola mi muy estimada amiga. Gracias por la receta. 💝Es fácil y muy sabrosa. Calientitas con un té o café.
    Te e visto en varios documentales.
    Es muy interesante. Rusia y su clima tan extremo pero. Me encantaría visitar. Pero no sé si aguante el frío.
    A mí me gusta más el frío que el calor.
    Con la ropa adecuada. Pienso que si podría disfrutar de yakuts.
    Y sus hermosos paisajes blancos. Que tanto me RELAJAN.
    HERMOSA! SALUDOS DESDE GUADALAJARA JALISCO MÉXICO 🌏 ABRAZOS CALUROSOS.

    Beautiful!
    I grew up with pancakes, but here in the northeast USA it would be sacrilege not to eat them with real maple syrup!
    Thanks for your fascinating (and very nicely done) videos.

    I watched a video about -- 71C a day in the coldest village in the world and they had this pancakes for breakfast. It reminded me of something from a long long time ago i cant explain and so i found your video. Tomorrow i will make this pancakes myself, even if it is pretty warm here where i am living now.
    cheers from Thailand and THANK YOU VERY VERY MUCH ♥

    You tube recommend a video to me and I've watched like 15 of them so far 🤗 and the first one had this dish and it looked so yummy! Thanks for making this video. I gre up with something a bit similar from the carribean - we call it fry bake, and there's baking powder in it so it puffs up when fried. More like a dough instead of a batter. Can't wait to try this!
