Thank you so much for this video! I have experience working on Japanese sport bike brands but I can't find any forum diy how to guides and it's rare to find any TH-cam videos for indian ftr models.
Thanks for the demonstration. I will make the oil weight switch. I had a service done initially to uncover what was causing some harshness in the front end and we discovered the oil volume was well outside of specifications. Dave Moss recommended 5w as well.
Great admiration for your skills. Would it not be easier to put in the bearing race and the fork seal with a piece of split PVC pipe as I worry that screwdrivers would damage both of them. Although I may well be commenting on my skills rather than yours. I have the chance to pick up a 2019 FTR S for $12999 and your videos really make me think that maintenance at home might be possible. Thanks so much
@@mostlymotorcycles. I have an FTR1200S and it runs terribly until its warmed up. I had it idling on the driveway and it walked off the side stand and fell over before I could get to it. Miraculously only the bar end was damaged and easily changed. It was a real heart sinking moment though.
Did you notice any difference with the Motul 5W? Did it soften the forks by any chance? I just fractured a vertebrae and looking at ways to soften up the suspension to take on the very rough roads where I am. I'm just getting to know my base 2019 FTR, got it used. Most fun motorcycle I've ever ridden, just wasn't tuned right and I have some wear and tear. Thanks for the video and happy riding!
@@mostlymotorcycles. Thank you!! That's great to know. I'll put in some 5W to try and soften it up. With the base model I won't be able to adjust the front but that's fine. Any improvement will help. Turns out there's no fracture but multiple herniated and bulging discs. It's healing but the rough roads + the stiff suspension are making long rides uncomfortable. In pain tonight.. Thank you for sharing this video! Very helpful.
I totally love that Indian bike of yours. But I have a Yamaha 1974 250 enduro also and clean the carburetor ran for a bit now it cutting out a making a poofing sound and no power could that be dirt in the carburetor again maybe have to clean again what do you think?
@@mostlymotorcycles. great , it means fork guards are used for a purpose , not just showoffs , gators can aslo prevent up to some limit but make the look old and odd

Great video mate - thank you.
Nothing more Occa than a bintang singlet over the airbox - gold
Thank you very much for including the bolt torque specs. Your video helped me significantly!
Screwdrivers, monkey wrenches, chisels, hammers.... the Jeremy Clarkson Starter Set.
The FTR comes with 5 weight oil.

I got mine for 12k out the door without tax and tags
Split PVC tube would work, great idea will keep it in the memory banks for next time.
@@skippynj1979 12999 Canadian then sounds like a good deal
Thank you sir👍🏻
Great video
Thank you for the how too's. I have a 2019 FTR. Just curious. How are your tuning endeavors going? Any updates?
Ok I’ll try that 👍 thanks
30:20 - ow that was close, bike almost went.
Split second later it would have been all over.

I literally raised my arm like I could catch it from falling 🤣
Same thing almost happened to me this morning

Definitely less harsh with the 5 weight. Still leaves some room to increase the dampening with the clickers when necessary.

Maybe just drain the carby and check for water or dirt. Could be contaminants in the tank. Petrol tank strainer may be blocked.
Hi. I have a question, do you know if the subframe for 2020 fits the 2022 ftr carbon?
Sorry can't help you. There's an FTR Facebook group, Some very knowledgeable guys on there.
@@mostlymotorcycles. can you let me know what's the fb group name
Why didnt u checked it in dealership , whats the reason for leak
It leaked due to a small stone or road tar stuck in the seal. It's wasn't a Warranty job so, I did it myself.

Not a manufacturers defect. Stone under the seal.
